It's a beautiful setup with separate areas divided by tall old trees making it appear to have been there forever. Amazing job on the build. Have been there 3 times trying to get a seat on the main patio. There are only about 12 tables there and each time was told it was a 2 hour wait. We ate at the bar on two of the visits and left on one. They had reserved signs in every table out there on one visit and two sat open the entire time we were there. Meaning they could have turned those tables before the reserving party showed up. It's very easy to seat a reserved table and giving the folks you are seating a heads up about the reservation. People will both appreciate and comply. On our most recent visit, the hostess, after telling us that it was a 2 hour wait, must be standard verbiage, flipped her iPad over and snapped at us "They are ALL RESERVED " with a smirk on her face as if we were not worthy of her time. Not a good first face representation. There is a beautiful Ampitheater area with limited bar and food available. You can bring chairs but they also have chairs available. There is a bourbon tasting building in back that also has a menus of drinks and food not available in the main area. It is loud in there so be prepared for that. There is a very cool area upstairs in the main area with couches and such for private events. All in all, the food is good, the atmosphere is great, and most of the staff is friendly and will answer all the questions you may have. read more

I want to point out that this place is absolutely beautiful. It's unique for the area and is much needed for residents of the area. The menu is top notch and covers a variety of cuisine. With that bring said, I was disappointed when I arrived before 4pm and almost every table on the patio was reserved. I witnessed most of them sitting empty for up to hour. I took a friend out who had been recovering from an injury and she wanted to experience the beautiful weather. Instead, we had to belly up yo the bar. Now, the new bartender was friendly and accommodating to our needs. It was simply hard to sit there and watch tables sit empty that could have easily been turned for customers like us. If we were told we had an hour, I would have made sure we were ready to move on in time. Also, I was told a specific liquor was only available in the distillery for a drink I ordered, but it was on the menu for as an ingredient for a happy hour drink in the bar. Now, I will definitely go back, but hope to enjoy the patio and not be told it will be a two hour wait. We shall see. read more

Cottle Village is a great addition to the St Charles area. The restaurant is top notch. My husband had the short ribs and mac n cheese. I loved my old fashioned and he had a martini. The price point definitely matches the portion/quality. We got the Tavern burger and chicken lettuce wraps with the side of brussel sprouts. I could eat those sprouts everyday! Cottle Village has potential but is still figuring out its identity. The food itself was great, but the overall experience left room for improvement. The indoor dining area felt dark and under-decorated, and the ambiance could use some attention. Our server wasn't able to answer some of our questions, though they were accommodating and kind. My experience with this restaurant was for a celebration for rehearsal dinner/wedding. Upstairs had a lovely separate area with a small bar and it's own restroom. They about 6 large round tables if I remember correctly and a buffet option. Things at the buffet were beef, potatoes, green beans, cookies, cakes, chicken wings, etc. They were all done well. The venue/restaurant has a great aesthetic as well. Tall ceilings, dark colors with wood, a modern aesthetic I didn't think I'd find around that area. Overall a popular and lovely place for a celebration. The staff at the bar were also good. The one thing lacking may be easy access to those with difficulty walking upstairs. read more

Went here for my dad's 61st birthday, nothing huge, just breakfast and relax with the scenery. The food was great, it could be better, as in the food could be heated while we were platting. What I don't like is having to go inside and immediately to the left is the reception. Where the food was also wasn't noticeable, in the back of the room? That's not noticeable in my opinion. We also had to wait for our tables even with it being reserved. AND EVEN WORSE, they lost our card, gave us a different one, finally got our card but our receipt was wrong. The service was very clearly either new or too young, the ones who took our plates were hesitant to remove our dirty ones. The food was pretty standard fare. I had the steak frites with a side of Brussels sprouts. The menu said the entree came with one side. Turns out, the fries were the side. My steak was well prepared and delicious. The Brussel sprouts were good. The fries were limp and not hot. My husband got the cheese steak sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes. The sandwich was mediocre with little meat. He didn't care for the mashed potatoes. Our friends also got fries and the mashed potatoes. We felt they needed to improve cooking their potatoes. Our biggest issue was the noise. We heard this from others but thought it might be exaggerated. It wasn't. If you enjoy an environment so loud you must shout to have a conversation then this is your place. You could eat outside but there is limited seating. I don't know how the staff can handle it every night. The music venue was great. Get there early for seating. The band was really good. Parking is limited. You can park at Grace church and take a shuttle. Seems they are new, extremely busy and still ironing out the kinks. We will give it another shot, but definitely not seated inside the restaurant when they are busy. read more

I made a reservation for 20 people about 3-4 weeks in advance for a birthday brunch and was told someone would contact me the week of to confirm final details. Unfortunately, no one did, and I had to follow up myself. When I called, the host initially couldn't locate my reservation and took my number for a manager to call me back. After waiting a few hours with no response, I called again and was told the manager would be in at 3 PM. My event was scheduled for Sunday, and this was already Saturday evening, so the delay was concerning. Instead of a call, I received a text confirming 20 guests. I called back again to update my party size to 30, and only then was I able to speak directly with the manager to confirm everything. On the day of the brunch, our group of 30 arrived at 11:45 AM for a 12:00 PM reservation. The restaurant was not prepared for us, and we were not seated until 12:30 PM. While delays can happen, especially on a busy day, this was disappointing given the advance notice. This was a buffet brunch, and unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. The selection was very limited--eggs, sausage, Brussels sprouts, salmon (which was overly salty), undercooked French toast, potatoes, and fruit. It felt more like a basic continental breakfast than a paid brunch experience. I was especially disappointed that waffles, which I specifically came for, were not included. Our waitress was nice and professional, and she truly did the best she could under the circumstances. However, service overall was poor--many guests did not receive their drinks, received incorrect drinks, or had to wait extended periods. This was clearly not her fault; it was a management issue. For a reservation of this size made weeks in advance, additional support should have been provided. It also took approximately 45 minutes to an hour to process payments for the group, which caused delays in our plans for the rest of the day. The most disappointing part of the experience was the interaction with one of the owners. When one of my guests expressed concerns about the service and adjusted the tip accordingly, the owner responded in a rude and disrespectful manner, stating that my guest "didn't know how to tip" and told her she could leave and not return. This was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. The service issues were a direct result of poor planning and management, not the efforts of the waitress. For context, our group included several doctors, business owners, a school principal, superintendents, and a bank vice president. Tipping is not an issue for us--however, quality service is expected. Overall, this experience reflected a lack of preparation, organization, and customer service. The waitress did her best, but she was set up to fail. As the owner mentioned, we won't be returning. This establishment would benefit greatly from improvements in customer service and group event planning. read more

The facility is beautiful as an event center, happy hour patio, or kids afternoon due to the various buildings including a distillery, picnic tables, upscale booths, and more. The buffet had 5 breakfast foods and 4 lunch type entrees. We tried a little bit of everything and it was all excellent. The food on the buffet stayed hot, which is always a plus on a buffet. The waffle bar was a great idea. Tasty waffles with a variety of toppings. The bloody Mary's were perfectly made as we requested. Our server was very sweet and attentive. Great experience!
