Went here for lunch with my sister last week for the first time! The bruschetta was AMAZING. I can honestly say I have never had better in my life. Beautifully presented and you have the option with your order (4 pieces) to have 2 of one kind and 2 of another, so we opted for the Cotta a Legna one (sooo good, it has some sort of jam on top and sliced pears...delicious) and the Bresaola, with beef & fresh arugula. I would love to go back and try the other options, because if they're anything like those two, I know I won't be disappointed. We also shared a pizza and had the Fina which has prosciutto and fresh arugula. It was delicious, and we couldn't finish it after all these carbs, but I heated them up in the oven the next day and they were still delicious, and my hubby really loved it too. The food was a little messy, so maybe not the best menu items for a couple having their first date! Our first time there. Service was very helpful and attentive. We ordered the prosciutto bruschetta for starters, it was simple and very good. The lobster ravioli was fine. My husband ordered the buffalina pizza and it was cold, not good for a restaurant with a wood fire oven in the corner. All in all it was just ok. read more

Horrible. 2 times that when my family showed up, they claimed that we did not place a reservation. They just told us to wait for 2 hours for an available table. It was my first time eating here yesterday and I really enjoyed myself. Cute atmosphere and good location. The food is made from scratch, but even still it took a super long time to get our food. We sat at the bar while we waited for a table to open up and the bartender was nice, but was pushing buying a bottle of wine on us the second we sat down. Ummm can I get a water first and maybe see a menu? Lol. I gave this place four stars because the food was excellent and we had a very nice waitress. Superb food in a vibrant atmosphere, the dishes served here are always fresh and on point, non of your chain restaurant reheated stuff here!, the menu is a well thought out and tasty, offering up a varying choice of Appetizers and Entrees with an Italian/Mediterranean style. The management and Staff are attentive and happy to help with anything, nothing is a problem here. We are usually served by a guy named James who is knowledgeable and professional, it's always good to see familiar faces which reflects well on the restaurant. Just an advisory note, it can get real busy on a Friday and Saturday night so be prepared to wait if you have not booked in advance, but the management team will always try their best to get you seated quickly. I have been lucky enough to eat at many good/highly rated restaurants and bistros in the greater Chicago area, all with their own qualities, but Cotto A Legna is always on my go-to list when I'm in need of a good atmosphere with quality food. read more

Went there on VDay. Not the best service. Waited 15min for our waitress came to greet us at our table. She apologized profusely and they gave us a round of drinks. Then I ordered soup and it never came and I never mentioned it to her. I have been here many times and I enjoy the food. This place is tricky, the bottom line is at these prices this is not a good place. The food comes nowhere near the prices they are asking. Ex. on the specials menu, like 3 or 4 raviolis, like $24, $24 for ravioli?? Its just not there for me, I don't see it. Pizzas are stil just ok, nothing here lives up to its potential. Great option for Italian food in Geneva. Comfortable atmosphere. We weren't a fan of the bruschetta. Lobster Bisque was EXCELLENT. We also ordered the pesto shrimp spaghetti and the spinach sausage pizza. Both were great. We expected leftovers and finished them both. read more

I am so pleased with the food, service and accommodations provided to us for my husband's surprise birthday dinner! Kris and Brogan waited on 35+ guests and did a super nice job! Food: the caprese, calamari, and eggplant parmesan were amazingly delicious! The grilled asparagus, pasta dishes and wine were just served perfectly!!!! My friends and I came here last year after Graham's wine and chocolate event, we real enjoy the food. Plus the bruschetta was very delicious! This year we planned on going back here after Wine and Chocolate event again. I was looking forward to having some bruschetta! It was probably 10:30pm, we walk over and it was CLOSE! Tried a new place late yesterday afternoon. Staff was very friendly, sat outside. Menu offered a very interesting selection along with an extensive wine menu. A bit pricey for lunch, but about right for dinner. For excellent Italian food this is a must go to place. I didn't give a 5* rating because kitchen service was slow, our entries didn't come out together, and the constant noise from passing trains was obtrusive. read more

Cotto A Legna is a favorite of ours. We love their pizzas. Their unique options from brick oven pizzas, pasta, to other Italian dishes to make it a new experience every time. Their pizzas are not the usual toppings you would expect, and those unique combinations Increase the variety. They have friendly servers that greet you with a smile. So we had our first visit here - wanted to sit outside and pizza drew us in - family of 6 so a kids menu was important- honestly if it weren't for the waitress we probably would have left after looking at the menu only- but she described the pizza and options to have a build your own (sausage & pepperoni) the kids were not excited about their choices but each selected Alfredo w/shrimp pasta, chicken fingers and the pizza above - my husband ordered the speciality pizza "rustica" and when the kids meals came out they were HUGE! Kids could have split and the pasta was awesome and the pizza - wow just wow, we would have never thought it would be so good!! Highly recommend - pizza was amazing! Wow! This place blew me away. The previous reviews were mostly written shortly after this restaurant opened. I had an amazing experience. We started with a cheese and meat appetizer. I had the server pick both, they were amazing. Huge selection! We had both the Farfalle with Salmon and a wood fired pizza. Both were cooked to perfection. The pasta was cooked perfectly to al dente. I finished with a deconstructed cannoli and an amazing espresso. Delicious! Please venture to this location. read more

Food is excellent. We tried two bruschetta options and I really liked the special that day which was the artichoke bruschetta. Wine was great and pizza was excellent. The only thing was it was a little loud so a bit hard to hear the person that wasn't directly next to you, but all in all, I would recommend. read more

Arguably one of my favorite places to grab a bottle of wine with friends and some delicious small plates or pizza. Servers are attentive without being overwhelming and there's a wide selection of small plates, pizza, wine and beer. Even though it's not a large space, they seat you quickly but a reservation is highly recommended. The outdoor is lovely but can be a bit loud with the train right across the street. The fig and prosciutto bruschetta is an absolute must. Also, certain bottles of wine are half priced on Wednesday's. read more

We think this is one of the best lunch places that you don't expect! Their soups are smooth, creamy and just a little different. Their focaccia sub-sandwich with Italian meats is delicious. Just the right amount of crunch, not too much dough and high quality meat and cheese. read more

We absolutely love Cotto, been there many many times! Their crab cakes, calamari, and cheese plates are to die for! However, the last 3 times we've been there, not over 1/2 capacity mind you, the wait staff have been very neglectful, getting orders wrong, very delayed on bringing drinks and appetizers, and quite frankly, running around like chickens with their heads cut off. It's unfortunate that it has this stigma to us now because we want to keep returning but we pick other places now because the service and accuracy lacks. I could understand if it was a Friday night when the restaurant is packed but these weren't the cases. Overall: GREAT place but needs to step up its game. read more

Had yet another bad experience here. Ordered my favorite margarita pizza that I enjoy very much at cotta legna... I had an older lady for our server who seemed nice enough but somewhat stressed and anxious over just a couple tables. I asked for no basil on my pizza. The pizza comes out with basil... she sees the basil and asks me if I could just pick the basil off... nice. So i pick the basil off but the whole pizza still tastes like the oil from the basil. I've had her as a server before and had less than average service from her. This was my last time coming to cotta. Gia Mia has better pizza anyway. The quotro fammagio is devine and their service is incredible at gia Mia. read more

My wife and I and another couple ate here Saturday night, 1/7. One had a salad, the other 3 had pizzas. My wife and I had also eaten here in early December, having non-pizza entrees. On both occasions, all the salads, entrees and pizzas were very good to excellent, worthy of coming back. However, the place appears to have serious problems getting the food out to diners. Saturday, the restaurant was packed and it took over an hour for one (1) salad to be served to the pizza orderers. The 3 pizzas and dinner salad for the non-pizza eater took an additional 25 to 30 minutes. The night of our December visit, it was not crowded and getting any food on the table also took a long time. Plan on a long wait. A personal annoyance is the noise level. As has become the norm, the restaurant was apparently designed/decorated by architects with zero knowledge of acoustics; not a thing to help deaden the sound level. The result is that everyone has to yell to be heard by their dinner partners and the overall decibel level had to be very high. If you actually like to talk to your dinner partners at the table instead of texting them, you might prefer a quieter venue. But again, the food really is very good; we've especially enjoyed the salads, the salmon pizza and the salmon risotto. Oh, one other comment: If you pay by credit card, the waiter swipes the card on an iPad at your table and you sign with your finger. I love technology as much, if not more, than anyone, but I do have some nervousness associated with this method. First, the waiter stands there while you have to pick the percent tip to leave, which I view as intimidating. And second, this is all wireless and I can't help but wonder how easy it is for a hacker to sit outside in a car and download the card swipes. Yeah, it's probably not much more risky than giving your card to someone who disappears out of sight to run it, but at least you know an employee stole it then. Overall, I'd give this place 5 stars if they can straighten the kitchen timing out. As is, it's only a 3 star in my opinion. read more

Cute place with really good appetizers. My husband and I ordered the same thing, Frutti del Mar, and we both had to send it back. The pasta was undercooked and it smelled very fishy. We do not believe the seafood was fresh. my mother's dish came out overcooked. My 3 year old had pasta with red sauce and was throwinging up in the middle of the night. I can't prove she had food poisoning from here, but the coincidence is overwhelming. I may come again if only to have a cocktail on the patio, but I was very disappointed with dinner. read more
