We have been to Cotton before and have always had excellent service and food. We went there yesterday for an early dinner after a show at the Palace. I am a mediocre cook, no one will starve but I'm no Julia Child. I make meatloaf quite often but wanted to try some from a real chef, also at a price of $19.95. I don't think it was fresh, reheated which I can have at home. I was served two large slices with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Those two items were excellent. So, I'll stick to my meatloaf which I now realize is quite good. My husband had steak which he said was very good. The best part of going there was our waitress Rania. She was delightful, friendly, helpful, and the best part of dinner. We had a gift card and my husband gave her the full amount as a tip. read more

My favorite restaurant. Many great food selections and the best cocktails in town. The staff is great. Many long time employees so I believe they like the place as well. Cotton is a do not miss place. One of the best places in downtown Manchester. A hidden away gem that never disappoints. I make sure I come here every time I'm in NH. I had the steak Diane and it was very good. It came with mashed Yukon gold potatoes and asparagus. Sauce over the steak was yummy. I wiped up every bit of it with my potatoes. Cotton hit the spot last night. I sat at the bar and had two glasses of Hob Nob Pino Noir. I ordered the jumbo sea scallop entree. It came with six grilled scallops and a interesting hash. The hash consisted of sweet potato, corn, and bacon bits with a chipotle aioli. Wasn't exactly what I was expecting but it was tasty. It had a spicy sort of Louisiana Creole feel to it. Overall I was satisfied (clean platlike I generally am when I visit Cotton. The bartender Dwayne I believe his name was, was very busy and still managed to keep everyone happy. Next time I'll have to try one of the many cocktails they are known for. * Had to take away a star. Went out to eat here again and my date ordered the scallop dinner that I recommended and it only came with 4 scallops! When I previously got them, there were 6 for the same price. Read reviews and staying in Manchester one night. Did not have reservations but able to get in on Friday night at the bar. The experience was great and the food was exceptional ( I would give 5+ if I could). We had the New England Sea Scallops that had a savory sauce combined with all the other ingredients that made it absolutely delicious. The bread pudding dessert was also out of this world. Some of the best food I have had, and we come south LA where the food is seasoned and world renowned. Hubby had a old fashioned (which he raved about) and I had wine. The bartender put out martinis faster than I have ever seen. And we got recommendations on sights to see in the area from the owner (helping to tend the bar that night) and our bartender-Dwayne. Two in the party had veal schnitzel- generous portion cooked nicely. Buttermilk fried chicken dish was very tasty with good sides. Lamb frites was not cooked quite enough and somewhat tough. Bottom line - the food is overpriced. We had the jambalaya and the lamb steak. The jambalaya was a messy plate of 90% rice. The lamb was so over cooked it was dry (I ordered rare). Cotton is a great addition to the Manchester restaurant scene. It's just enough on the outskirts of inner city Manchester, but don't let that fool you, as this place does get busy! I came on a Friday night where there was quite a wait. Luckily, Cotton takes reservations and my party and I were seated right away as we had made a reservation. Cotton's aesthetic has an easiness to it with an upscale feel, which gives it a cool vibe. There are a variety of tables to sit at in the lower section, with high top seating in the upper section with an expansive bar. Cotton advertises itself as an American restaurant, and it surely is fitting, but their menu presents a variety of flavor combinations ranging from Americanized Asian to Italian options. On the evening that I came here, our waiter was extremely attentive and made sure to answer our questions and refill our water glasses periodically. I ended up ordering the Caesar salad with chicken and the crab cake appetizer. First off...the Caesar salad was OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. I know, I know...it's salad, but it was MASSIVE and Cotton makes their own dressing which made it amazeballs. The crab cakes were also delicious with a corn and bean salsa and a spicy sauce on top. Both options were great! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Cotton. My one critique is that I wish they had a few more healthier options on their menu, and their price point can be a little expensive for some items, in my opinion. Our service was excellent and it has nice vibe but my scallops with sweet potatoes failed in flavor. I thought the scallops were a bit overcooked and there was an abundance of sweet potatoes. We haven't been to Cotton in about 15 years, so we gave it another shot. Omg, I'm glad we did. I absolutely loved it. The seats in the booth were not super comfortable, but everything else was fantastic. We decided to share a large caesar salad ($11.95), the Delmonico ($38.95), which came with mashed potatoes and a lovely mixed veggie, and the fried calamari. A little play on surf & turf. The salad was delicious, well dressed and plenty of shaved cheese. The steak was perfectly cooked, was very tender and delicious. The calamari was just what you'd expect, a little greasy, we'll probably skip that next time, but it was still really good. The service was good, the drinks were ok, I think they could use a better, more upscale beer list. But the martinis are plentiful. And one of the best parts about this place - they ask you if you'd like some bread while you wait. I am a fan of the bread while you wait. I would even pay for it if necessary. Anyway, there were 2 of us, and they gave us 3 pieces of bread, so we arm-wrestled for the 3rd piece and I bathed in my glory the rest of the meal. It was wonderful. Cotton features a whimsical menu that aims to bring out your inner child, featuring items like the popcorn shrimp(in an actual popcorn movie box). Ironically, the restaurant seems to attract an 'older' crowd. Go figure. But I'm here for the food, and it sure didn't disappoint. I Started with the cucumber mint lemonade which was very refreshing. Usually these kinds of drinks are watered down and worth skipping altogether. This version packs the right amount of flavor. Hopefully it is not a seasonal item. - The crab cake appetizer is as authentic and enjoyable as any I've had in Maryland. Great crust, great salsa to compliment. - The fried chicken is a must. Kudos to the courteous waiter for steering me in that direction. I am not usually a fan of chicken breast but this is all kinds of juiciness. The drinks were amazing, we got cosmopolitan, old fashioned and Apples jack, all the drinks were very nicely made, kudos to the bartender for that! We got crab cakes for appetizers and they were just perfect! Melted right in our mouths! For dinner we ordered - Buttermilk fried chicken and cottons bistro steak. On the "Good-Meh-Suck scale, Cotton is a GOOD +++. Cotton is by far and away the best place to dine in the area. The food is great from start to finish. We had the crab cakes to start and they were outstanding. The Seafood Carbonara special was very rich but filled with flavor. We probably should have shared this. The Tuna Tataki was paired with a salad for our other dish. Very nice. Dessert was to die for. Don't know Manchester. We were in town for a short time and thought we'd try lunch somewhere. We yelped possible places and Cotton came up with some surprising reviews. So we went to the mill section of the city. Alot of great changes going on. Restaurant is a wonderful experience. Restaurant is comfy, cozy. The staff all were nice and friendly.
