Home sweet hometown! I rolled into Cotton Patch in Cleburne last Saturday for a long-overdue lunch with my cousin, and let me tell you--it was exactly what a comfort food pilgrimage should be. This meal was so good, I barely remembered to take a picture before devouring half of it. (The photo evidence will either prove my lack of social media skills or just how ridiculously good this food was. Let's go with the second one.) Now, let's talk about this feast: Chicken Fried Steak--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and smothered in a rich, creamy gravy that could make even the most devoted vegetarian rethink their life choices. Creamy Mashed Potatoes--also generously blanketed in that same glorious gravy, because if you're going to do comfort food, do it right. Green Beans--but not just any green beans, the homemade kind with little bits of bacon that make you feel like someone's grandma made them with love. Dinner Rolls--fluffy, buttery, and downright dangerous. You tell yourself you'll eat one, but then another one magically disappears, and you're left wondering what happened. To top it off, the service was A++. Our waitress was on it--attentive but not hovering, friendly but not fake, and she made sure we had everything we needed while my cousin and I caught up on years of life. And the timing? Perfect. The place was just busy enough to have a good vibe but not so packed that we had to shout across the table. Final verdict: Highly recommend. If you find yourself in Cleburne, go. The Chicken Fried Steaks we had for lunch were good as always here. Would be nice to get a little more gravy without having to ask. Who doesn't like to have their CFS and mashed potatoes fully covered in gravy?? Service was good today. Spent plenty of time with us and didn't seem rushed despite the Sunday morning rush of folks coming here after church. Service was terrible. Took forever for a server to greet us. She had an excuse for EVERYTHING. For example she told us she would bring us rolls, took them to her other tables, but when we ask for some she came back to say they didn't have any because "someone" burned them. Went yesterday with a party of 9. All of our orders tasted good and everything was correct. The server was friendly and drinks always stayed filled. Best service I have received from multiple visits at other cotton patch locations. Staff were friendly and made sure we were greeted when we walked in and when we were leaving. Had a great meal tonight in Cleburne at the Cotton Patch Cafe. The chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes with green beans were awesome. Everything was cooked perfectly and served hot. The side salad with honey mustard dressing was fresh and served on time, 5 minutes before my meal was served. The service was spot on tonight and the restaurant was busy. The restaurant has tables or booths and the dining area and tables were very clean. If your looking for a great home style meal, the Cotton Patch Cafe is a good restaurant to try. If you are an ice tea snob like me, you will enjoy the fresh ice tea that is strong and not watered down. Just another bonus from the Cotton Patch Cafe. read more

For your information. The portion sizes are changing to the meals here. 1 pork chop has now become 2. Paper thin chops and smaller veggie portions too. A Cobb salad with chicken, which my wife said wasn't good chicken. Pork chops, 2 teas, Texas size fried mushrooms for a low price of 47 bucks. With tip 58$. First off you can't trust an online order because they don't provide all of the order which I paid for. Wasn't worth going all the way back for some green beans. Second they used to give 2 tender porkchops but now you get one overcooked tough piece. * I'll give them one more shot but if I'm screwed out of what I paid for or the portions differ from their original I will be Done with them. Sort of diner style in the spirit of "Dixie Cafe" or "Black Eyed Pea" ( if you're familiar with those. Food seemed good, hot and was tasty. Chicken Fried Steak. Chicken Fried Chicken. Fork Tender Pot Roast. Meatloaf. Blackened Tilapia. Buttery Yeast Rolls...These are a few of my favorite things, and you can find them all at Cotton Patch!! Every time I have eaten at this location, the food has been served hot and fresh and so very tasty. Every. Time. The Chicken Fried Steak and the Tilapia are (imho) the best things on the menu, but then again, I have yet to get through the entire menu yet! And the appetizers...just plain yum. From fried pickles to queso, they have a great selection - just be sure to save room for your entree! You're gonna want to eat every bite. Service at this location is spot on as well. Our drinks never reached empty, the food came out quickly, the order was right, the check was brought as soon as we asked for it...awesome service!! Ask for Lisa next time you visit - she is our regular server and does a fantastic job every time. UPDATE: So sad that CP no longer has WiFi available. There is zero service once in the building. Worst service ever. Tried to order the special but after 20 min we were told they were out. Ordered a salad no dressing. Ordered gravy with potatoes but no gravy. Ordered broccoli rice casserole and only got broccoli. Nothing was right. This guy was slow and didn't refill drinks o r rolls. Had to ask repeatedly for drinks and several times to get rolls. We will not return to this restaurant. The manager needs to step out and see what is happening in the restaurant! Do not eat here!! read more

Was seated but it was 30 mins before Zoe took our order. She eventually came back to say The Mac n Cheese the boys ordered was off the menu. After another 15 mins, an incomplete and mostly cold meals were delivered. It took 2 reminders for Zoe to complete the order. Do not choose fruit as one of the options - it is 4 slices of one strawberry. They have also run out of drinking straws. We will not be rushing back there. I ordered on the app (their official app) to go and my order was all sorts of messed up. I had to ask my mother to pick it up as I am of a weakend immune system so going out is not permitted without some planning. This is what exactly happened: Instead of 2 Chicken Fried Steaks, I got 1 Steak and a Chicken Fried Chicken. My sides however were not messed up so there was nothing wrong with my parents order. I also ordered a Cobb Salad. I asked for no Bleu Cheese Crumbles but to please add shredded cheese, cucumber, and croutons. I instead got the salad with no bleu cheese but they did add the shredded cheese and cucumber. They however forgot my croutons and the fried chicken was not cut all the way through as well as it being overcooked. My salad was full of hearts and hard pieces. I had issues there before (minor inconveniences) but to charge for the rolls $2 when you get them for free in the restaurant is not professional. As someone who is stuck at home due to a weakend immune system, this is not professional nor is it how it was handled when I had worked there once before. We will simply choose another location if we want Cotton Patch, do not recommend. read more

Make sure to take something for your blood pressure before you eat here as the salt content may cause a heart attack. Black eye peas have no flavor, definitely canned. They did add a little bacon to try and add flavor, but this works best if you first cook the bacon. Garlic mashed potatoes are ok, not great. Will need chainsaw to cut the chicken fried steak, and a few people taking turns to chew one bite. They did cook the steak before battering as they should, it would be helpful if tenderized the meat before batter. Be great if a better cut of beef was used, if not then they can try cooking a hamburger patty out of brisket and then adding the batter. The food was good & hot, though I had to send my filet back for being really undercooked (fresh off the cow vs medium rare). What really made everything stand out was the exquisitely earnest service! Our server Timothy & his assistant manager bent over backwards to ensure our meals were perfect & we appreciated their being on top of things. We ordered two entrees and an appetizer. First things first--the fried pickles were terrible. The actual pickles were paper-thin, and each one was 90% breading. Chewy breading. So, zero crunch from the pickle, because there was barely any pickle there, and zero crunch from the breading, which was way too thick and not very well cooked. The fish tacos were quite good, according to my companion. I had the blackened tilapia. Fortunately, the fish itself was pretty good, if a little over-salted. But both sides also had issues. The steamed broccoli was right on the cusp of being over-cooked and mushy. Not bad, but not great. And the Caesar salad was just a handful of shredded Romaine with a few shavings of parmesan on top. No croutons, and that insanely thick, commercial-made dressing that is absolutely nothing like a real Caesar dressing. It's more suited to spackling your drywall. And just for a bizarre side note, as I was eating, the fish came away from the Styrofoam container and there was a hole in the Styrofoam that had been melted, I guess by the fish. I like that the food was hot, but I'm a little weirded out that some melted Styrofoam might have gotten on my food.
