I've ordered through Uber Eats as well as their online pick-up, and both experiences have been great. The rolls are amazing honestly better than Texas Roadhouse! Their peach pie cobbler is also delicious, perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. They're located in a busy plaza, right at the corner near Ike's Sandwiches. There's plenty of parking, but you do have to cross the road to get there. I've only ordered to-go so far, and everything we've tried has been excellent. Highly recommend! Service was great as always. Took my friend and his parents there for their first time and they were impressed with the menu and Shrimp dinner. Personally I like the Chicken and dumplings, but this time around it got to the table and it was not very hot. It was like like warm. I should've known this place wasn't going to be great when I saw all the "elite" reviews. The service itself was friendly, but the food was disappointing -- bland yet overly salty. The restaurant could really use a deep clean: the walls by the booths were dirty, the lamps and seats needed a good wipe down, and the ceiling vents were pretty gross. My husband ordered the chicken avocado sandwich, and the fries tasted like they came straight from the freezer. The queso was thin and watery, almost like they added water to stretch it out. Every time I asked for napkins, they only brought a few -- it just felt like they were cutting corners everywhere. I ordered the Cajun Duo, and it was completely flavorless. Service and food were alright, chicken and dumplings has no flavor to them, but i was really grossed out by the server bussing tables and then immediately touching our food in the expo area with no gloves just grabbing the toppings for my baked potato bare handed out of the containers and prepping/ touching all the plates. UUUUGGGHHH. What a total drag. My wife and I hit this place on the way home from our weekend in Denton. We don't have Cotton Patch Cafe down our way and wanted to try something different. I'd been before (Lubbock, Texas), but it's been years. We walked into the location post-Sunday church rush, probably about 1:30 and the place was pretty empty. Unfortunately, our service matched the slow, empty vibe. My wife ordered right away for our little one to go ahead and get her fed - and she ordered an appetizer. Several minutes later, I still hadn't ordered and wondered audibly, "did she (our waitress) think that's all we were going to order?". We also had to waive her down a couple times during the meal, which again, we felt shouldn't have been necessary given the nearly-empty restaurant. The food, although it came out quickly, was mediocre. We ordered a small burger patty with cheese for the little one; it was oversalted. Even my wife, who adds salt to everything, stated it was salty. I opted for the chicken fried steak, which was okay, but nothing to write home about. The mashed potatoes, however, were obviously reheated and borderline cold and hard. I was a fan, though, of the jalapeno gravy served with the CFS - great flavor. Don't get me wrong, this was almost a 2-starer, but I'm taking into consideration we were dealing with a fussy 1yo who'd been on the road a couple hours before we stopped for a break. First time here we were with a very large group the service by our waitress Lindsey was excellent. She was very attentive and made herself readily available throughout our dining experience. Now for the food.... the selections were plentiful and portion size was large. I couldn't decide between the regular size turkey plate or the $9.99 meatloaf daily special. I ended up ordering the turkey. The meal was very tasty that I ended up ordering the meatloaf to go! It's so nice to find a restaurant that doesn't break the bank, quality food and great service thank you for making our first visit a memorable one. As promised, I'm on a road trip that's dedicated to finding perfectly prepared and fried catfish and hushpuppies. And this is one of them. In one word, my sister in law described the hushpuppies... "superb" & when it comes to hushpuppies, she knows her stuff! Well seasoned with the right amount of spice, crunchy on the outside and luscious inside. Yum! The catfish was "clean" lightly "cornmealed" with just enough to stick, crispy outside, delectable inside. What more could you wish for? Loved the fresh broccoli, and the yellow squash is a slightly sweet compote of light breading, onions and too yummy for this girls diet. Hubby urged me to try his fried chicken breast tenders. "I know you don't like white meat, because it's tough and dry, but you have to take a bite of this" He was so right, and helped him polish off his generous serving. There was a lot of bitter lettuces in it too. The service was good, and no issues with splitting the check. The restaurant was clean & our table was nice. Both the sauces tasted good and the Mozzarella Cheese The Chicken Fried Chicken was crunchy, but overall I would say the flavor of the chicken itself was pretty bland. I got jalapeno gravy which added a little kick and made the chicken slightly better. The rice and broccoli casserole tasted good and was well-flavored. The french fries were a little on the soggy side. I will note that the ranch tastes good though. Overall the food is pretty average (if not below average :(( ) VIBES There is plenty of seating available and most everything is wood to give some type of country vibe. There were a lot of families there as well. The atmosphere isn't too loud, but I will note something that was noticeable was that the tables, menus, and chairs all kind of felt sticky. SERVICE It took a while to be greeted at the front, especially with a noticeable party (we had 9 people crowded at the door) making the front area very crowded as more people poured in. It kind of seemed like we were being ignored despite the seated area not being very full. When seated, our waitress was very sweet; however, I will say that it took very very long for our water and drinks to be refilled. Very nice classic country restaurant. Great cornbread skillet appetizer. Fried mushrooms!!! My hubby has been a fan ever since they opened their first location in Nacogdoches in 1989. He says they keep getting better. Lordie, chicken fried bacon y'all. Country Fried steak with jalapeño gravy is perfect. Yes jalepeno gravy is an option!!! Seize the day and be brave. It's not hot, just a light jalepeno kiss. They have grilled and baked entries as well. Salads are crisp, fresh and very nice. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh, not frozen or canned. Service is on point. Friendly sweet and check in regularly but never too often. Country music on but just enough to not be too loud. Have you ever had a food that for years and years you would never order because you just knew deep down inside that you wouldn't like it? Then one day you have some and change your mind? That's me with Sweet Potato Fries. I think I must always thought of them as French Fry 'Wannabes.' The thing with Sweet Potato Fries is that you have to eat them in the right frame of mind. Don't think "French Fry," think Sweet Potato shaped like a French Fry (but thats where the similarity stops). I decided to be adventurous and have some tonight at Cotton Patch. I think they lightly dusted them with cinnamon and sugar. It was like eating a not overpowering sweet potato that was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I loved them. But partly, I think because of the right frame of mind. They were just great. The Bacon Cheese Fries here are our favorite in the area. Good service, reasonable price. We stopped in for dinner Monday evening. It had been more than 2 years since we had tried them. Guess we should have waited longer. They were not busy when we got there. We were seated at a "booth" where the table was EXTREMELY sticky. We couldn't wipe it off. That should have been the sign that I paid attention to. Ordered Chicken Fried Steak and the Turkey Dinner. Well, it was over 30 minutes from the time we ordered until the food arrived. I will say that the waitress was kind and brought us two more rolls while we waited. Comments about the Turkey Dinner - not too bad. It was hot, the dressing was flavorful, and the corn was hot. As for the Chicken Fried Steak - we never got it. What we received was Chicken Fried Chicken (not the Monday special that we had ordered), but considering the amount of time we spent waiting on the food - we decided not to push it. The wait staff was friendly, but I generally would have expected a manager to come out and apologize for the long delay getting our food. This place is pretty mediocre. We shopped in Target and found this place so we just came in and we're seated right away. The parking is easy to find but the lot is huge so it was not an issue. We came here on a Saturday night at 6:30. Our server came to get our order quickly and was sweet and made us feel welcome. She answered all my questions and helped me substitute something. The ambiance was meh and I wished we had gone to the place next door. The food came out and it was disappointing. We started with drinks and they were gross, then moved on to the fried pickles which was the best part of the meal. My meal was a grilled cheese with mashed potatoes and my husband got chicken fried brisket which was not great. We left with a $46 bill which should have only cost us half since that is how everything tasted in quality. It would take A LOT to get me to come back here. Most likely a one time experience. Ordered this to go on Uber eats. 1. Toook sooo long to get here which honestly wouldn't have bothered me too much had my whole order been there. 2. I got the grilled shrimp with the loaded baked potato and a side salad, first this potato isn't even cut open wtf? They completely forgot my salad. 3. The shrimp was good and had good flavor but rice was hard. I'm just like damn waited an hour for this.. very underwhelming. Maybe if I ate at the restaurant would be better ? I've never had a wait and the food is usually consistent. I like their mashed potatoes and squash. The chicken fried chicken entree and salads are usually great as well. We needed a nice home cooking place to host a graduation lunch and found this place on a map. It is located in Wolf Ranch Town Center tucked away in a corner. I arrived last to find everyone was seated in the outdoor covered patio. I ordered water and sweet tea, and started reviewing the menu. It's all country style food and zeroed in on the fried catfish. I had the option of just a basket with fries or a plate with fries and two sides. I ordered a plate. Our server was extremely nice and made sure my sweet tea was refilled on this warm day. We were provided with warm rolls and butter. The were very soft and tasty. The place is very nice next to a wild flower garden. After we all chatted to catch up on family matters our food started to arrive. Half were first served but the rest did come. My fried catfish looked and smelled good. I ordered macaroni & cheese and fried okra as my two sides. It was two big pieces of fish and tasted it. It was very good and cooked perfectly. With my tarter sauce I enjoyed my meal. The sides were good. The only drawback was the hush puppies were a bit small. The whole plate filled me up. After eating the restaurant let us hang around since they knew we were celebrating a college graduation. They even kept refilling our drinks. We had a superb time and the food was great.
