We needed a nice home cooking place to host a graduation lunch and found this place on a map. It is located in Wolf Ranch Town Center tucked away in a corner. I arrived last to find everyone was seated in the outdoor covered patio. I ordered water and sweet tea, and started reviewing the menu. It's all country style food and zeroed in on the fried catfish. I had the option of just a basket with fries or a plate with fries and two sides. I ordered a plate. Our server was extremely nice and made sure my sweet tea was refilled on this warm day. We were provided with warm rolls and butter. The were very soft and tasty. The place is very nice next to a wild flower garden. After we all chatted to catch up on family matters our food started to arrive. Half were first served but the rest did come. My fried catfish looked and smelled good. I ordered macaroni & cheese and fried okra as my two sides. It was two big pieces of fish and tasted it. It was very good and cooked perfectly. With my tarter sauce I enjoyed my meal. The sides were good. The only drawback was the hush puppies were a bit small. The whole plate filled me up. After eating the restaurant let us hang around since they knew we were celebrating a college graduation. They even kept refilling our drinks. We had a superb time and the food was great. This place is so delicious. The chicken Fried steak is perfectly crisp, rolls are always hot and fresh, and the desert is a perfect hit for a sweet tooth. Get the chicken fried bacon! You won't be sorry. The staff is friendly and courteous and will never let your drinks go empty. This diner is sort of hidden away in this strip mall. Went for lunch and were seated immediately. Was nice looking and starting to fill up with the lunch crowd. "Cowboy" was our server and should be nominated for employee of the year! He's the type of server that if you wanted something and the restaurant ran out of it, he would run to the market to get it for you..we ordered the skillet cornbread to start... it was huge! And very tasty. Cowboy was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended several items. We decided on the lunch special which was a bowl of soup and half sandwich/salad. Let me tell you, these servings are very good size. More than enough to fill you up. We chose the potato/cheese soup and chicken salad 1/2 sandwich, and the chicken & dumpling soup and strawberry 1/2 salad. Our soups were delicious! Especially the potato/cheese.. the salad came with grilled chicken and was delicious and filling. The chicken salad sandwich was very tasty but it needed more of a binder to keep it together (Mayo). All this food for under $20 bucks!!! Unheard of in these inflation times! The only negative would be that the floors and tables are in need of a deep cleaning. Awful service! I used to get my lunch here all the time since I work nearby. I always ordered ahead so that I could just stop by and grab my food since my lunch period is half an hour. I stopped going there after they consistently ignored me for at least 15-20 minutes every single time I went to pick up my order. I don't mind waiting a few minutes, but employees consistently would walk past me multiple times, look at me, and offer zero acknowledgment. The final time I went, I placed an online order for a side of fried pickles and a lemonade. I showed up for my food and was waiting for someone to come to the counter to hand me my food. While waiting, two ladies who were there before I arrived waved me over and asked me if I worked there and if they could get some menus and waters because they had yet to be waited on after being seated. I couldn't believe they stuck around that long when they were one of only three tables occupied. I also saw that the wood near the entrance door was swarming with termites. It didn't seem like anybody was concerned by this, but they were noticeable as the wood looked like it was moving due to the number of termites crawling around. The floor at the entrance was also covered with termites and termite wings. I was disgusted and went back up to the counter to cancel my order. After 25 minutes of waiting, I ended up going back to work and calling Cotton Patch to cancel my order. The girl who answered said my order would be cancelled, but the money was never refunded to me. I reached out to the customer service email about the entire situation but nobody responded. TL;DR: This location is absolutely terrible. I highly recommend the location inside the Temple Mall, the service there is amazing and you could drive there, have an entire meal, and drive back in the same it would take to be seated at this location. read more

I ate here recently, and the food was very good. What I want to point out about this specific Cotton Patch is the service. The man who welcomed us at the host stand was friendly, and he even engaged in conversation a little bit. The waiter that took my order was also friendly. He kept passing by the table to see if we might need anything else, and he was just very friendly. He said his name was Stevan. (Pronounced like Steven.) Never coming back. Worst service. But let me make it clear they were NOT busy. Multiple staff members standing around and talking. Our server took our order and disappeared for 30 minutes. We had to ask TWO different people for bread. A lady who sat down 30 minutes after us got hers almost immediately after sitting down. We got our bread ironically as our food came out. Had to even flag down someone to refill our drinks. We only spoke to our server twice once when we ordered and another as we were eating. She was very Inpersonable and seemed like she didn't want to be here. She couldn't even bring us the check and had another server do it while she stood in the back My food was cold. I ordered a side of fried okra and could tell it had been sitting. The pork chops were so over seasoned it was hard to eat without drenching it in sauce. This is one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. For starters, the host was nice and did her job just fine. Then when we got sat my fiancee and I waited about ten minutes until we flagged down the hosted and ask that a server come help us. I saw her grab a server that was not in our section and ask him to come help us which he did after a few more minutes. He came and took our orders as we had ample time to figure out what we wanted. Then after he brought our drinks the server who was actually in charge of our section came to tell us that both items my fiancee had ordered were no longer being sold. The skillets which are pictured on the front page of there menu and with an insert were not available. Also the mimosa which was the only non-beer or wine option was not available. So we decided to leave. The servers were slow, knowledgeable of their 86'd items, we had to wait 30 mins to be seated when there were open seats and they were not selling their featured menu items. Needless to say we will not be back there. To top off everything in Nov. 2017 they received a health score of 13 out of 100. They are currently closed do to having a rodent (rat) issue in this location. I would recommend if you really want Cotton Patch go to the Round Rock location or to a better overall restaurant. read more

I placed this delivery through Favor app, I ordered this at 7 pm and it's just arriving and it's freakin 9:15pm!!! I'm missing a side salad, fried okra and mashed potatoes! My food is cold, bag smells of cigarettes, salad dressing is Luke warm and no longer cold!! First off I will say our food was VERY DELICIOUS! The reason for the low stars was the service. So disappointing. It was our first time here and we were coming to try it before thinking about having then cater our upcoming party. When we arrived about half the tables were full. It was around 1 so lunch time. We waited over 15 to be acknowledged and seated. During that wait the 2 groups that had come in after us had left. Got seated and ordered meals and soup/salads. Waited another 30 min for food. Never got our soup/salads. Daughters grilled cheese was hard like a cruton or if they cooked in in an actual toaster. Our chicken strips were good so that was the only saving grace. They forgot the sauce and then never really came back to check/ask so that was a bummer. At this point the place is pretty empty so it's not that busy. As we're finishing our meals the server brought out my daughters dessert (choice of oreos or a little sundae) my daughter picked a Sundae but was bummed when it was just a half melted scoop of ice cream nothing else. To a 4yr old thats pretty upsetting. Finally got the check and our soup and salad was still on there so had to have that fixed. Got here at 1:05 this afternoon. It is now 1:56 and we still don't have our food. It took us reminding our waitress to bring rolls that we received them at 1:48. We were so impressed with our waitress, Emily. She was the only waitress working covering the whole restaurant. It was around 7 pm so still the dinner crowd. She was so patient with taking our order, we have special food needs, our food came out hot and perfect as ordered. She was quick on the refills didn't even have to ask. I'm giving them 2 stars for our food, but 4 stars for our service. It was my uncle's 80th birthday get-together. Family drove in from Lago Vista, Giddings, Bertram, and Cedar Park. Our waitress was totally awesome. We had a table of 10, plus, she had another large table. We never had to ask for anything. She was on top of it. 2 stars goes to our food. Very disappointing. Fried flounder was greasy, ranch hand steak was rubbery. Baked squash had more bread crumbs than squash, very dry. Baked sweet potato was smothered in marshmallow cream and overflowing brown brown sugar. Couldn't even taste the sweet potato. Any other restaurant would be very blessed to hire our waitress, she made our night. read more

Two Stars for getting the food order right, and for it being good, and for the dining area being clean, but there was only a few people dining in. We walked in at 6:00 pm, and we walked out at 7:30 pm, because they were packed, not hardly, because they are very disorganized and very forgetful. The young man, who was the host, was a joy in itself. He seated us next to the window, and they don't have shades, so we were not comfortable, and my wife and granddaughter had the sun directly in their face. We got up, and we moved ourselves to another table away from the window, as the young man working as the host who seated us had zero customer concern, and you could tell he didn't have a care in the world whether we were there or not. Our waiter finally came over and we ordered our drinks, and an appetizer, which was free as I joined the club. My daughters tea came out and was nearly clear. I stopped our waiter and said, please replace this, and he said, I thought it looked weird !! Really ? Then why in the h*ll did you even serve it to a customer ? He brought her another glass which was much better. My son and I ordered Shiner Bocks, and they brought us Shock Tops. They took them back and brought what we ordered. Shortly after our appetizer came out which was surprisingly correct, and it was very good. We placed our food order and I requested a straw from our waiter for my granddaughters drink. Then we waited and waited and waited and waited, both for our food, and for the straw. I finally got up and just about walked into the back and asked another worker for a straw. Our waiter then came out and said, it's going to be a while as our order disappeared from their system, and they were getting it re-entered, really ? I didn't believe him. He already forgot we requested a straw, he told the bar we wanted Shock Top instead of Shiner, and I'm positive he forgot to put in our order. There are mostly teenagers working here and you could see them all huddled up in the back, including our waiter, which I'm sure they're concerned about something else besides the few customers who were there. Finally, our food came out and it was again, surprisingly correct and it was very good. So now fast forward, we are done eating. Our waiter never came back during our meal to ask if everything was good or to see if we needed anything. He did offer refills after we were finished eating. He asked if we wanted dessert, and we said no, but we would like a to go box. Then we waited and waited and waited on our ticket, and for the to go box. He finally brought them both. I gave him my credit card and he said, I'll be right back, I thought, ya, sure you will. Again, we waited and waited and waited. I could again see him and the other teenagers gathered in the back. He finally came out, not with my final ticket or the to go box, but he was just walking by. He looked over and said, oh, I forgot to run your card !!! WTH !!! He was sluffing off in the back with the others, and with our bill and credit card in his apron. He finally came out, gave us the to go box and my final check, and thanked us. I left him a 10% tip which was very generous to say the least. We walked out of the door at 7:30 pm. So far all of that, minus 3 Stars, which is also very generous. This kind of service is inexcusable, especially when there were never more than twelve people dining in for the entire time that we were there, which was way too long. I have only one message for the manager, and for the owner: Your service sucks, and if you don't look at Yelp, you need to !!! You'll see review, after review, about good food, for the most part, but a common thread of horrible service. May I close this review with a business suggestion ? Listen closely to your customers. Went here on a Saturday afternoon when we couldn't decide where to go in Wolf Creek with the kids for lunch/dinner after going to the carnival in the parking lot. No wait, food kids will eat, figured that's a winner. Got some queso to start that was surprisingly good. Unfortunately that's where the good ended. My fish tacos were fishy (bad for tilapia), wife burger was meh, and kid's chicken was chunks of salt. Add to the bad food that the service was terrible (combo of inattentive and forgetful when not busy) and this place won't be on the list of options next time we need to eat in Wolf Ranch. read more

I totally understand that people are doing there best during these times. So I am comparing my experience with the Round Rock location which was a much better one. Good - not crowded maybe because of our current situation Difficult/Different - we were sat at a table that clearly needed to be cleaned, hostess cleaned after we mentioned it - 3 other tables not cleaned with left over dishes the whole time we were there - Wait staff non- existent, was about to leave when someone popped out - unconscious bias training is needed here, with what was said and how we were treated. The food is great here, but the service historically has been terrible. Pre-COVID it was bad, but it has become even worse now. My wife and I went in this past weekend. We were immediately seated where we sat for 20 minutes without anyone approaching our table. We were not in an obscure corner of the restaurant. In fact, we were right in the middle with wait staff passing our table regularly. A lady at the table next to us even commented, "why are they ignoring you?". At the 25 minute mark, we got up and left. The hostess who saw us throughout our time there and not being served offered to "ask our sever to stop by our table." We told her not to bother. We went to the restaurant next door, were seated and had our food within 15 minutes of entering the restaurant. We won't be going back to The Cotton Patch anytime soon. read more

The phone is ringing off the hook and while employees look at it in sheer annoyance NO ONE will answer it. Not a single employee seems to care. This place was absolutely filthy, from the sticky floors, to tons of food and trash under tables, dirty seats and tables, and disgusting bathrooms. Literally workers and manager just standing around. The service and food wasn't bad, but after going to bathroom and realized only hand sanitizer was in the soap dispenser, and after I told everyone at table, they lost their appetite. We definitely won't be coming back, just go to fish city grill next door, we wish we would have! The worst thing to detract customers is a filthy restaurant. I see a lot of service complaints, I think we had decent service because girl was nice and nobody was inside but two other tables. I think this ranks as the worst meal I've ever had. Mac and cheese has no flavor. Tastes like plastic. Chicken fried brisket is like a chicken fried dry brick. Mushrooms came in a plastic bag. Chicken and dumplings were cold and congealed. And to top it off, I ordered over the phone. Waited and got there 30 min later when I was told it would be ready. Waited way too long to be acknowledged. Then was told it would be 10 to 15 min longer because they ran out of alfredo, if I "wanted to wait." Well I really didn't have a choice. I'd already paid for it plus a 20% tip. Eventually it came out. No apology. No walking through the order. My husband and I went for a late lunch to Cotton Patch in Georgetown about a month ago. There wasn't more than a couple of tables with people there to eat. We were seated by a loud, obnoxious man who was yelling a conversation with someone in the kitchen on his way up to the host stand to seat us. I won't even say greet us because it wasn't a greeting. The floor was sticky and the tables were sticky! Yuck. But we stayed. So we had a young man as our server who indicated it was his first day. We ordered. The food was pretty good but the whole time we were there I tried to not touch the table with my hands. I felt bad for our new server. He didn't do anything wrong except that it took him about 15 minutes to come to our table initially for drink orders and possibly to go ahead and take our order. I informed my husband we would not be going back to Cotton Patch Cafe. He agreed. Then he said maybe we just need to try a different location. read more
