Because we are retired and able to dine early, between 5:00-5:30 p.m., we are usually seated and served promptly. Hard for me to agree to eat here but I did. As usual it took forever for the food to arrive. Several folks who ordered after us received their food first. We were right by where they ring in the food and the kids (wait staff) were cutting up and saying how ready they were to leave their shift and some were play fighting. Knock it off and bring our food already. Couldn't get a refill to save my life, bread wasnt hot either. People all around were frustrated for one reason or another. What this place lacks is a manager watching the floor to check on how these youngsters are treating the customers and acting. The "mashed" potatoes were hard, I had to mash them with my fork and hardly a serving if you ask me and I have read other reviews where ppl complained about the serving size. One couple seemed so upset, they clearly were ready to leave and were waiting forever for their ticket. The family behind us was angry about something but I couldn't figure out why. Cotton Patch has always been a staple for our family. However, this restaurant keeps missing the mark. Despite a recent remodel, the food is mediocre at best and the service is lackluster and indifferent. Waited 10 minutes to order and then another 25 minutes for the food to be delivered which appeared to have been thrown on the plate on the correct order and wrong on the incorrect order. Again, waitstaff was uncaring. Finally, manager tried to remedy the situation with coupons and such but this is the second time and last for us at this particular restaurant. No coupons needed. It is probably worth making thr trip to Mansfield. read more

Love the food here but their online orderings is worthless! If they don't have something that yo've ordered (they ran out of it) your order isn't placed at all and they don't notify you. You won't know you don't have an order until you get to the resturant & they tell you they never received your order. When you tell them what you ordered they'll say oh we are out of that which is why your order probably didn't come through SMH. So call in your order or dine in...DO NOT waste your time ordering online. *No this is not the first time this has happened its almost every single time i've tried to order online. read more

Food was cold. My waitress never asked me for a refill on my drink. I ordered the fried fish and shrimp and it was not good all.. everything tasted like it has been sitting out for a long time. Went to celebrate my birthday with my family. Waiter acted as though he didn't want the table despite the fact he seated us. Seemed annoyed we took a little time to order. Ordered fried mushrooms that came in one giant clump. Of course, attempting to separate, you either got a clump of batter or the mushroom, but never just a battered mushroom. Waiter did continually fill our glasses, but never acted interested in our table or our experience with the restaurant. He never asked how everything was & we never saw even a hint of a smile either. Ordered the fried catfish dinner. Batter was almost non-existent and every bite just full of oil. (I'm not a health snob, far from it, hence all the fried food. Isn't that what your birthday is for? Eat your favorites no matter the calorie count?) The baked squash was not edible, tasted like baby food. The cinnamon apples were the only thing I was able to eat on the plate. Waiter was also very anxious to get our to-go boxes asking before the rest of the table even ate half of their food. I think the worst part of today's dining was that they didn't clean the seats & my husband sat in ketchup (beige shorts) from a previous customer. The women's bathroom was also a complete mess with trash and toilet paper everywhere. I could understand if this was immediately after a lunch rush, but this was at 4pm before the dinner crowd Our family loves Cotton Patch on Mondays for the country fried steak and have never had bad service before, but today was just awful. came here the other day, they have a new item on the menu where you get a chicken fried steak AND chicken fried chicken. the steak was okay, but dry.. the chicken was amazing, also had nachos as an appetizer, overall a great experience and staff! read more

Good home style food. The new remodel seems to have cut down the wait time, with the added seating.

Home away from home for the really busy person. That seems to be our family most of the time. Good food, good prices and nice atmosphere. The service leave a little to be desired but you can't beat the variety of choices. read more

This Cotton Patch is a notch or two below the one in Cedar Hill. I had the Cajun shrimp, fish, rice and loaded potato, wife had chicken tacos and the little one had the chicken fingers basket. At the time we came, it wasn't busy, however did have to wait more than a 1/2 hour for the food to get to the table. The side salad that was with the Cajun shrimp and fish came at the same time as the Entree. While the tastes were there, my food was warm rather than hot as it was sitting for awhile on the warmer, dish looked nothing like the picture. Picture on the menu showed rice all over the plate, mine had a small pad hidden under a very thin tilapia filet. Loaded potato was good and it was hot, the only star on that plate. My wife's chicken tacos were ok but nothin special, and the little ones chicken fingers were burnt crispy. I'll try Cotton Patch again, but not this one in Waxahachie. read more
