Great food. But spending 35 min in their drive through on a Sunday night is not ok. I'm in a wheelchair and it's very hard to navigate inside when it's busy so the drive through is my only option. I am not from Pullman and I did not go to school here. So, this place may just be for tradition. We couldn't get into the drive through safely, we would of had to wait in the median of the road... so we decided to park but the parking is god awful to. The place was dirty and sticky and the tables had not been wiped. When we ordered the service was slow. And then when we finally got our burgers they where just ok... a lot of mayo. Almost way too much mayo. I guess unless you have a tradition of going here then it is worth it. Otherwise go somewhere else. read more

Best place for a burger in the Pullman/Moscow area. Seriously. I actually put off going here for a long time.. but when I went, oh goodness. I'm very happy that they have a few healthy selections such as the black bean burger, and the grilled chicken sandwich. Everything I've ever tasted from Cougar Country has been amazing. So I believe every City has a "classic burger joint" and Cougar Country is Pullman's. And generally its pretty good. One of the best things is you can order, and then adjust. My typical burger is a cub burger with 2 extra patties and cheese. Ends up being the same price as a super-basket burger when its all said and done with but less bread :) That being said I have eaten a triple-super basket with extra cheese.... Sometimes during lunch and dinner the rush gets a bit long but my favorite time to go is around 10pm for milkshakes with friends. Its a fun spot. read more

This used to be our favorite fast food/drive through place in Pullman and we would go often. The management was very kind and usually the customer service was great (one bad experience but the management handled it well). The food tastes good but be cautious if you are sensitive to processed ingredients and/or MSG. The last burger we had there tasted significantly different and I started getting a headache. I recognized the taste of Johnny's seasoning salt (or something similar) and remembered that the original has MSG in it . I asked them about this, and if it was the MSG-free kind. They said no, it's the kind with MSG in it. So that was it for our family; we have never been back. I have also been disappointed to see the frequent Food Service of America truck deliveries. first off, I love cougar country. I have been a faithful customer for 18 years. Then why the bad review? Because out of the last 2 years I have recieved 5 or more un- or under cooked hamburgers. I am so tired of it! The hamburgers arent thick enough to measure with a ruler, yet they cant manage to cook them all the way through. The establishment itself is okay and the service can be a hit or miss. Today I went in with my boyfriend and his friend to get dinner because they had been on a bus all day. The lady was super quiet and her demeanor was the same as a person that toked up a couple times before work. She was super quiet and took forever to respond to our orders. After we got everything ordered we didn't check the receipt, assuming that since there was no line shoe would easily get our order correct. Of course it was wrong this time and she completely left out the burger on my boyfriends order because she "didn't hear him." The food itself was great as always but I can get a better shake that costs less back at home. GREAT local burger joint in Pullman. I went for lunch and ordered the Tuesday special- Super Basket. While the fries were so-so, the burger was fantastic! It was HUGE (recommend ordering the Cub Burger for lunch because it is more manageable) and quite simple with cheese, mayo, and lettuce. I think they use frozen patties, but it hit the spot. I also need to give a shout out to the fry sauce, it made the fries a little more tolerable. I can't wait to go back and try a milkshake this summer! read more

I was hoping for a good local burger joint with decent prices (from the outside, it sure looks like the type of place), instead, it was overpriced and mediocre--at best. What I ordered: a bacon double cheeseburger, fries, and small drink. All of that cost exactly $10! And this was allegedly two dollars cheaper than normal because I got something on special. I went ahead and paid it because I had never been there before and figured it might be awesome and worth it. Suffice to say, it wasn't. Quick rundown: Service: The cashier was very polite and helpful. No complaints about the service at all. Part of the reason I plunked down $10 for the food was that I figured if they had that good of service everything else might be that good. Bacon Double Cheeseburger: The good: the bacon was real. The sauce was OK. The bun was normal. The bad: everything else. The meat was the same type of ultra-cheap pre-made stamped stuff you get at Walmart. You know, that kind that tastes vaguely frozen still. They were large in circumference, but had nothing else going for them. The cheese was barely there. The fries: They were hot and tasted pretty normal. But there weren't that many of them for the price and they were nothing more than the crinkle fries you buy at the grocery store. The drink: A very small drink for $1.50. In short, for the quality of the food it's *vastly* overpriced, even taking into consideration the good service. If I had paid $5 or even $8, I might have been happy, though I probably wouldn't go again since it was merely OK. $10 during a special deal? I'll never go again. read more

We came here often when my daughter was at WSU. We still make a point of stopping whenever we are in the area. It is usually busy and no wonder. There is a great menu variety that accommodates any taste in food from garden burgers to traditional burgers. I usually get the chicken burger as I prefer a change from a beef burger. A large order of fries is enough for 2 people and their burgers are much larger than what you would get at the usual burger chains. The shakes are thick and tasty. Well worth the money. read more

Best place to eat in Pullman, hands down. My husband and I have even contemplated driving from Seattle to Pullman just for some fries, a burger and a shake. Over the years I'm sure I've eaten there fifty times: I even ate there on my wedding day. Everyone knows what a drive-in burger taste like. We've all had one before and they all have that oddly common taste. Well here at Cougar Country it's a bit different and this time different is good! I got the basic burger - I can't recall it's name. Two buns, beef, pickles, mayo, lettuce, etc., you know the drill. This burger was big. It was big and tasty (no copyright infringement intended). There was fry sauce and tartar sauce (surprising because you're usually having to special order sides of fry & tartar sauce) readily available in their self serve condiment section next to the classics, ketchup and mustard. The fries were small, crinkle cut, and a satisfying side for your main course. This is one of those special cases you hear of where size DOESN'T matter. Honestly, I knew it was going to be a good time from the reviews and I wasn't disappointed. A drive-in reminiscent of the 50s & 60s serving burgers with a nostalgic taste you'll remember and cherish forever (or until you come back to get your fix for your Cougar Country craving). read more

Love this place! I love retro drive ins but don't eat meat, so this place is perfect for me. It's unbelievable that a drive in offers such a varied menu, with two types of veggie burgers, lots of fish selections. The kids like the kids' meal, and they will readily substitute veggie burgers for meat, so it's possible to have a family of vegetarians/pescetarians have some choices, and the kids can have a kid meal (McDonald's offers us no such options, and Burger King gets weird when you ask that a veggie burger be substituted in a kids' meal). read more
