Look no further for great donuts! They are always fresh, big and tasty. I don't think they do many other bakery type things, but if coffee and donuts is what your after, you can't go wrong here. They always have great coupons available on their website so you can usually pick up a dozen for about $5! Even without the coupons, they are still very reasonably priced. Like that they have a drive up window so you can grad a couple when you're passing by. The only problem, which they have partially solved, is that you can't turn left into the parking lot if you're west bound on Rt 20, you've got to go down to the next corner and come back to it on a frontage road kind of thing. These donuts are OK but not the best. But the Crystal Lake location is! For some reason these donuts are drier but some of the flavor is missing (In your Vanilla Cream :{) To prove this point we even did a blind taste test comparing your donuts to your crystal lake location. Here are the results: Chocolate Frosted Cake: Crystal Lake, Frosting and Texture were not comparable to Elgin Honey Dip: Crystal Lake, Moist and Warm and Elgin was drier and cold. (A warm donut always wins no matter what) Vanilla (Angel) Cream. Crystal Lake, This one wins clearly since the Elgin one was dry and had less filling than the one in crystal lake. The one in crystal lake has a better frosting, a better texture and a better taste. (That's probably why they call them Angel Creams at the Crystal Lake location) read more

The donuts were great although that they barely had any out when we went they were good. Although the lady behind us had a very rude employee. This lady was very rude and was acting like she was the boss which she wasn't and we know it. I never used to care for donuts, but I guess I just hadn't found the right place to get them. My husband and I moved to Elgin a year and a half ago and we live just down the road from Country Donuts. It is so tempting to go there every day, but we are good and only treat ourselves about every 2 weeks. I love every donut I have tried from here, but my personal favorites are the blueberry cake, red velvet cake, honey dip, and long johns. My husband usually goes for the Bavarian crème or the chocolate. I've even tried doing the little box of day old donuts and as long as you eat them within a day or two they are still really good. I always watch out for their coupons because you can get a dozen donuts for about $6. I still want to try their chili and now that I've seen other people say it is good I will have to have some next time I go. read more

I usually love this place and try to stop in whenever i'm in town. However my last visit was disappointing. Went through the drive thru and ordered a egg cheese bagel for myself and two donuts. The bagel had a very small egg that covered about 1/3 of the bagel and had cheese only on half of it. The donuts must have been old or overcooked because they were hard. The girl at the window barely held on to anything she was giving me. My money almost blew away when she basically dropped it in my hand and the bag of food was barely in my grip before she let go. read more
