Made fresh with a small town bakery feel, they have a large selection of donuts, donut holes, Apple fritters, etc. They even have the frequently hard to find butternut crunch donuts I love so much! They're generous with the custard and jelly fillings so there's filling with every bite. Another thing I love are the flat boxes. Let me clarify why the 3 stars below: - GREAT DONUTS - Best that I have had in a long time. Hands down worth 5 stars - Coffee - This is where they fail (at least in my opinion) Coffee is watered down and you can taste the old burnt taste like the machine hasn't been cleaned. You have to have great coffee to go along with a great donut and I think this is where they really miss the mark - Good clean facility with drive thru....very nice Overall, like I said above, the coffee is not good but all the other factors are great. I am a coffee person and missing that one key element makes me give them the 3 stars and go elsewhere to get my coffee in the morning after I pick up my donuts from them (lol). read more

This place used to be down the street from my house but they have since moved to Elgin which was sad, but this place is so darn good that I will take the drive to Elgin from Schaumburg just to have some donuts.. Hands down, absolutely the best donuts around. My father loves donuts so everyday he will go to Dunkin Donuts only because it is down the street from him. So when I drive in from Elgin he requests pastries from Country Donuts. He and I agree these donuts are fresher and tastier. Service is always prompt and courteous and prices are good. Country doughnuts is a small business that takes on the giant franchises and wins hands down. the variety, texture, and taste of these doughnuts is leagues above what Dunkin Doughnuts or supermarkets have to offer. Highly recommended. The place is super clean. And the customer service is great. The donuts are fresh--baked at the onsite bakery. I got a pumpkin donut and a cider glazed. My husband got a German chocolate and a cinnamon. Really delicious. Coffee not bad. They also serve chili and daily soup. I live near a Dunkin Donuts. Country Donuts is a farther drive for me. Some of the best donuts I've ever had. Only one real problem was the eclair... it was definitely not an eclair . It was just the same as a chocolate covered custard donut just in the shape of a Long John with sprinkles on top. An éclair, my favorite, is an oblong pastry made with choux dough filled with a cream or custard and topped with chocolate ganache. The dough, which is the same as that used for profiterole, is typically piped into an oblong shape with a pastry bag and baked until it is crisp and hollow inside. Like I said this was none of those things. It was their regular donut dough filled with the same Bavarian cream and topped with the same icing used on all the other Donuts. This should not be called an eclair. That said their version of the eclair which is not an eclair was very good in the donut category. In the pastry eclair category I would give them an F. They really do need to change the name on this. Calling it an eclair is misleading. That said, I would still tell you to order one read more

Had a sugar donut and an apple cider donut this morning. Both were very good. Esp. the sugar raised, it tasted so fresh. Coffee was fair. Why 3 stars? We went inside to order and it was so confusing. There were just random customers gathered around the counter trying to order. No one knew whose turn it was. There were 4 employees trying to help everyone and there was just no system at all. I can't imagine on a Saturday morning how crazy/chaotic it is. I'll do the drive-thru if I make it back. read more

Seriously, the best donuts I have ever had! I can't recommend this place highly enough. Their donuts are very fresh, bigger than Dunkin, lower priced, and most importantly ... delectable! The honey dipped (glazed yeast donuts) absolutely blow away Krispy Kreme in my opinion -- I always thought KK had too high of a glaze-to-donut ratio and were too sweet. I love their apple cider donuts, which they make year-round (yay!) and they always have peanut donuts in stock (most DD don't even carry anymore). Oh, and their cinnamon rolls and apple fritters are to die for. Wish my waistline could handle me going there more often. Love this place ... if you haven't tried yet, you should! Fantastic donuts! I love going here. Great friendly service. You can't beat their specials, look out for coupons. It is a little tricky trying to get in there if you're going north on Rt20 but it's not a big deal. Just go to the light, turn left, and left again on the first road. My family goes out of our way to get these and they're totally worth it. read more

I've been goin to country donuts for past ten years. I moved from Schaumburg out to elgin, when I saw a country donuts was getting put in the strip mall I knew it would be outstanding because they were great when they were in Schaumburg . Excellent donuts and muffins made fresh. You can watch them make the donuts while you wait to order. Very fun atmosphere. Wow! Why have I not known about this place a long time ago. I stopped in a few weeks ago as I was driving by. I've been back 3 time already and Country Donuts is consistently excellent. What can I say....Great friendly service, clean and tidy, fresh, tasty product with very reasonable prices. My last visit included a delectable apple doughnut. Entering the parking lot from westbound Lake Street is a little tricky but DO NOT let that stop you. A must visit! WOW! read more

Some of the best, slightly over priced donuts ever. They have a great array of donuts, breakfast goodies and beverages. The temptation is to use the drive through. But, you really shouldn't. Unless you're one of those people that orders the exact same thing every time, it really is worth it to park, get out of the car and walk into the store. The smell is delightful and the visual of all those donuts is a bonus. This store is a bit awkward to get into if you're traveling west on US 20 because you have to pass the shop make a left, looping in through the back entrance of the parking lot. Went there yesterday, i always frequent the Crystal Lake one, but was in the area and decided to stop by here. They are not as good as the one in Crystal lake, there was barely any glaze on the french curlers, the long John's were very messy and the angel cream ones were smashed..maybe it was just a bad baking day, but i will stick with the one in Crystal lake, they are far better! read more

Their coffee and donuts are great, and prices aren't bad either. However when I'm on the run I want to get a breakfast sandwich, and about 50% of the time they are inedible. Literally as hard as a hockey puck. The bagel is the consistency of hard plastic. Been this way for years. Hopefully they can change this really strange issue with their product. read more
