Loud trucks aside, it was a good move (and the trucks added "character!) They make all of their beers and they have quite a selection. I even found a Belgian Triple! It was my lucky day. I ordered Mandarin Grilled chicken salad (I realized there were absolutely no mandarin oranges. Come to find out AFTERWARDS they're out of mandarins. The kitchen needs to wake up, even for a Sunday.) It was okay, the feta was definitely not fresh, likely prefab, but the chicken was really good. And the dressing (supposedly homemade) was a nice dipping sauce. I also ordered the Beer braised beef panini. It had horseradish inside. Really nice bread and cooked to perfection. And last, my server, Jordyn. She was friggin awesome. So I took a photo of the tv menu board the last time we were there, and my camera didn't get the catfish dinner special price. But I figured about $10 - $15. So I called ahead and ordered 2 catfish dinners and extra piece of fish with each and a regular side of fried mushrooms. Well, when I got there, the total was $50!!! Yes, I said $50 for two large catfish dinners and one side of mushrooms. The receipt shows that the dinner is $14, the mushrooms are $4.30 and each extra catfish filet is $7!! So I called them and they verified that a single piece of catfish filet is simply half the cost of a complete catfish dinner, but you don't get any of the extras (fries, slaw, sauce, etc.) with it. They said that it'd be better to simply order 3 dinners so you get more extras, but we don't need "more extras", we need more reasonable priced fish... Chicago fish and chicken is just a few miles north on 67 and their large catfish dinner includes 3 filets with fries and slaw for only $12.99.

But when one restaurant door closes, another one opens. Taking tha path less traveled from Moorseville to Terre Haute and having not eaten because Grays cafeteria is permanently closed, we popped into the Monrovia Family Restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner. What a delight! Kate our server was super friendly and the ambiance is cute and charming in a "middle of nowhere in Indiana" kind of way. Kate suggested the breaded tenderloin as a fan favorite to my dad and I went with an omelette. The tenderloin is the real deal and also giant. One of those kind of tenderloins that there is more meat outside of the bun than between the bun. My dad said it was good and had lots of leftovers to take home. We felt this place was "mid-western" nice, clean, comfortable, easy and an OK value for what we got. One stall of a unisex bathroom is a slight drawback but not a show stopper.

The restaurant and the two buildings have been for sale for months. $750,000 if you're interested. I wanted a final Shrimp Po-Boy before they closed for good. My sister ordered Red Beans & Rice. It took an hour and fifteen minutes to get our food. Every table we could see were like us. We all had drinks and bread but no food. No one was eating dinner. My shrimp po-boy was good and just like I remembered. But my sister's red beans and rice was not. She said it could have used some salt but none was on the table and the server never checked in with us to see if everything was okay. The quality of the food has been declining this year. And they used to be open on Wednesdays but not anymore. It's a shame they couldn't maintain their excellence until the end. They should just go ahead and close now if this is the best they can do.
