In the area for Meetings and wanted something Gyro. Did a quick search near my hotel and this place came up as closest. Called in an order from their Menu of Gyro Sandwich and Fries and was told 10 minutes. It's 10 minutes from the hotel so perfect, jumped in the car and got there in about 12.......was told my food would be ready in about 2 minutes. Food was actually ready in about 10...so overall took almost 30 minutes instead of the 10. With that being said the food was good, French Fries were tasty and the Gyro Sandwich was also very good with great tasting Gyro meat. This place is great and the an enormous menu selection! We get the catfish nuggets and fried mushrooms and they're usually great. Every once in a while though, you'll get breaded fried catfish skin with no or little actual meat. And don't ever get their hush puppies, they're tiny and always burnt. read more

This is a good spot for lunch! They are usually quick if you call in ahead of time, and they offer variety of things on the menu- from meddle eastern food like baklava, falafel to shrimp and fish. I love their seasoned fries. They are addicting! I saw they were selling the seasoning separately too. I'm slightly disappointed because they have increased their lunch specials prices twice in the past year or so... it used to be 6.99 and it went up to 7.99, and recently it increased again to 8.99 for the same thing/portion. If you look at the menu board there you see that they have increased the price for mostly everything by 1-2. Perhaps I happened to show up on a bad night bit the only two sandwiches on the menu I would connect to Chicago (Italian beef and the combo) were sold out. None of the other sandwiches are "Chicago." I ordered a Gyro (because they are awesome) and although what I received definitely resembled a Chicago Gyro, it did not represent Chicago in anyway. The Tzatziki was bland, the meat was over cooked, and also not very tasty and the tomatoes and onions were scarce. This is a go to place for me because it's minutes from my house. They have great lunch specials. Boneless wings are HUGE! I like that they will split the sauce on an 8 piece order. The French fries are some of the best in the city. Sometimes I order a basket for them and ask for extra lemon pepper seasoning. My favorite is the Italian Beef(double dip) with giardiniera. If you like shrimp it's not to be missed either. Every order has been a solid meal and I've probably eaten there 50+ times. read more

There's a new restaurant open in the southwest pocket of Indy: Chicago Fish Chicken & Gyros. I'm not sure if it is connected to the one on the far east side, but this spot is located in a small stripmall along SR 67 before you reach Heartland Crossing. I went in on their opening weekend and found that they have dine in seating but no waiting service, so you need to place your order at the counter at the back of the dining area. They don't have overhead menus, so you need to find one of their printed menus at the counter or on a side table. The menu has a large number of options; many would be suitable for family dinners or even tailgaiting. The menu has categories including Chicago Style Sandwiches, Middle East Style Food, Wings, Tenders, and Fish. They also plan on having lunch specials (Mon-Fri) for about $7 including fries and drink. I decided to get a gyro (comes with fries & drink) and an order of 15 pc wings (with fries). I paid and was told to give them about 15 minutes. While I waited, I could see that if they want this to be more of a dine-in restaurant, they would benefit from a bit more decoration and fewer large tables so that individuals or couples could find a spot without taking up a large bench. They could also use some individual chairs for people waiting for their "to go" orders. When I got home, I tried the gyro first. Really good sandwich with enough flavor to be enjoyable. The meat was not dry and had just enough sauce to blend with the spices. The fries were also freshly made, but I was not offered any ketchup for them. The fries were seasoned with salt, so I didn't need any additional amount. The chicken wings (I got full wings, but half wings are also available) were served in an aluminum container along with the fries and topped with foil. They were still hot when I got home and I could see they were heavily seasoned. Good flavor, but leaning towards too much salt. The fries were plentiful too. But here's the problem: Packaging a large number of wings and fries together allows their internal heat to continue cooking them. The chicken can become dry inside while the fries pick up the steam from being enclosed and can become a bit soggy. When I got home, I immediately pulled the foil back to and separated the fries to allow the chicken to be spread out. I quick baked the fries at 400 for a few minutes to restore their crispness. I would also have liked to see dipping sauce (Ranch Dressing w/celery sticks) offered for the wings. As is, the salty taste accumulated. With some sauce, it might not be as noticeable. Like with the ketchup, it was a problem I solved at home. But if you are buying and don't have access to items in your fridge, you might be disappointed. I hope that the owners will also put their phone number on a banner or in large letters on their window. If it takes 15 minutes for a meal, letting people know their number so they can call ahead would be really helpful. Found this newly opened restaurant close to home & so glad we did. I read a couple of so-so reviews posted by others but our experience was great. I got the Polish sausage which is actually 2 complete sausages w/buns topoed with grilled onions, green peppers, catsup, & mustard. They were delicious. The fries were hot, crispy, large portioned, & sprinkled with a tasty seasoning powder. My wife got their huge Gyro which was absolutely stuffed with well-seasoned meat, grilled onions, & sauce. She couldn't finish it so naturally I couldn't let it go to waste. It had a great smoky grilled flavor. I know what I'm ordering next visit! I can't finish without commenting on the dessert. I don't usually order dessert. They had us sample the Baklava & I've never tasted Baklava this good. Had we both not been so full we would definitely have ordered it. Next time for sure! Coming from Chicago I was excited there was a gyro joint close to home, so I gave this place a try, unfortunately it fell way short of expectations Got the gyro and fries, comes with a drink as well, the good part, the fries were good, hot and fresh with a nice seasoning with a hint of lemon , but the gyro was not good at all, the meat lacked flavor, was dry , almost like it was leftovers from the day before, the taziki sauce was extremely thick and had little flavor or cucumber , and the gyro portion was rather small considering the cost was over $10, and took 15-20 minutes to get my food, not sure on the other food ,but by judging on my first impression I'll probably stick to other gyro places in the city .... read more

10/10 This place is so good! I'll admit that I was skeptical going in, the location doesn't exactly dazzle. But the food was so fresh, so tasty, and so reasonably priced. And that has been the case each of the times I've gone back since. I've come to appreciate how straightforward the menu is and how low key the whole place is. Sometimes a good restaurant is ruined by crowds, but this place feels very much like a hidden gem. I've only ordered the chicken strips and fries, so that's all I can speak to, but I'd highly recommend them. I would also recommend carrying out instead of dining in. We got the gyro plate. Sign on the wall indicated with the plate came rice, salad and special sauce. The gyro was gyro meat and a few grilled onions. There was lettuce and 3 half slices of tomato and fries (not rice as on the sign on the wall but was in the menu we opened after we got home). The "salad" was used to be put on the gyro since that's how I have had it typically served and its "special" sauce was the Tzatziki sauce typically placed on the gyro. The gyro meat was dry. So basically for the gyro plate you really only receive a gyro with fries for $11.99, for 2 it was $26.14. It was overpriced for what you get. read more

This is one of your typical little hole in the wall places that has good food. No fancy plates or silverware, just good fattening food. We got the gyro's and they were pretty good. Made a little different because they flat top the meat and onions. I like the onions cooked better than raw. The grease probably needs to be a little hitter for the fries because although they were good, just a little greasy. Overall it will be a go to place. Moved here two years ago from Chicago (its got Chicago in the name) so I had to stop. I fully intended on having the gyro, because that's also in the name, but I saw on the menu that they had Chicago Italian Beef, my go to, the one thing I really miss and I'm sorry to say that that is not a Chicago Beef, it's not bad a bad beef sandwich, just don't expect it to be a Chicago Italian Beef. I was so excited to try this new to me place even tho she said they have been here since January who knew 5 minutes from me. The service was so good the lady so nice and so helpful and I can tell she likes her job. Told me the owner makes hummus every day. And pointed out all the good things they have that the other places does not. She told me 15 minutes I'm sure it wasn't even close to that instead of waiting for me to come back in she brought my food out to me. Ok the food!!! They have so much to choose from but I went with what I had taste for tilapia and fries. And I got the hummus with pita bread. The food was so good!!!
