I've lived only a couple miles from this place for 3 years but somehow overlooked it and what a mistake! The shop itself is pretty understated. The building and interior look a little tired but in my opinion that's something I can overlook if the food is good. I mean, this is an item most people take to go anyways... My ultimate pick: Vanilla Creme! I personally do not enjoy the pudding that is used in most filled doughnuts...the vanilla cream features a lovely whipped cream in the center that is basically frosting. The dough portion of the doughnut is a soft but somehow hearty. The whole thing is topped with a light layer of chocolate icing. Just amazing. read more

My mom stopped by to get my kids a half a dozen donuts as a special treat. She was also looking forward to supporting this place as we have been going here for a couple of decades and wanted to support the small business. Unfortunately, the donuts were very stale. The kids were bummed and wouldn't even eat them. The business did offer to replace the donuts or give a refund, but it's a just a shame they weren't fresh in the first place. This is the go-to donut place near my house--other than Dunkin Donuts (which my wife does not like). So, on Mother's Day, when she requested donuts, I went here at about 9 a.m. The line was short, but so was the donut selection, which wasn't surprising or frustrating as I knew it was Mother's Day so they must've been slammed early. On a non-holiday, they will have the usual full assortment of choices. I gave them a pass today. The clerks are friendly and efficient and I got a dozen for just under $10, tax included. Although one person in my family thought the chocolate glaze on the long john looked more like caramel glaze, it tasted like proper chocolate. Other good selections included cake choices like the blueberry and red velvet and the filled donuts, including the custard-filled (with chocolate glaze) and the black raspberry filled powered donut. County Donuts provides friendly service along with tasty treats. Though the star of the bakery is their donuts. I am partial to the brownies. They are decadent!!! Rich in texture with just the right amount of nuts!! The chocolate frosting on top is doubly delicious!! Schaumburg is fortunate to have a onsite bakery that makes its goodies fresh daily. Through a glass window you can see the baker working hard; whether during the day or at night. The same is true of the staff. All of the workers behind the counter make you feel right at home with their warm smiles and friendly greeting. Please remember to tip them in the white cup that is between the registers. This is a small courtesy towards letting the staff know how much we value all their hard work. In conclusion, I would happily return again and again to County Doughnuts. As I am a teacher/book author I always need treats during my presentations for the children. I've been wanting to stop in and try these mini delights for about a year now and finally decided to pop my head in. But what was supposed to be "just a little sample" has now turned into a lifelong-pastry affair. God help me. The interior was quite modest, but most of my favorite places to each are rather "blah" on visual- aesthetic and "Va-va-voom" on the taste buds. Let's call it a donut-hole-in-a wall. (forgive me, hehe) If only the customer service was as sweet as the donuts. My enthusiasm for my discovery was apparently not appreciated by the young lady serving me. So after reading the reviews here on Yelp, I had to try this place out myself. I stopped in here yesterday while going out to Hoffman Estates to see what they hype was all about. You walk in and it feels like an old school Dunkin Donut's. With the counter and the same racks holding the doughnuts on the wall on display. And the smell was very familiar too, to that of DD. I ordered 6 doughnuts (sour cream, buttermilk, French, jelly, house cut and vanilla frosted). And I have to say...I didn't think anything was THAT good. I felt if as though someone had worked at DD and then came here, changed the recipes a bit and opened their own doughnut shop. Sorry to all you County Donut fans, but I just didn't get it. The French was my favorite of the bunch, but even that was nothing to write home about. And I found the others to be a bit dry. My opinion...nothing special about this place. read more

Another amazing donut place?! What?! I'm going to be huge. County Donuts is open 24 hours, so you can get a donut whenever you please. We walked in and immediately smelled the fresh aroma of baked goods. The woman at the counter was very nice. They have a great variety of all different kinds of donuts, cookies, bagels, and muffins. They also have coffee, smoothies, and a few soups. I had a really hard time choosing what I wanted - they all sounded good. I ended up getting some kolaczkis and a few filled donuts. 24/7 donut shop!! Came here Friday night for a late night donuts run. They have a variety of flavors & old fashioned donuts. I usually don't like jelly donuts because they're too sweet for me, but their powdered jelly donuts were addicting and at the right level of sweetness. I will definitely come back here just for their jelly donuts. I also recommend their blueberry cake donuts. It's like eating a blueberry muffin in a donut form. Oh boy, I'm in trouble!! These donuts are the bomb, and I ate a six pack over a few days but this can only be a special occasion thing, because these are fantastic! There was a line out the door, but plenty of fresh stuff coming out of the kitchen and relatively fast service for a short wait.
