As a Marine Corps combat vet, I can say that the most nerve wrecking thing I have ever done is buy a house. I used Countywide Property Inspections on or around July 2011 to perform my home inspection prior to entering escrow. I have been in the military and worked in law enforcement for the better part of 14 years. So I can not stress enough that I have no craft skills what so ever. I relied on the expertise of the home inspector for my inspection. As far as I could tell the inspection came back alright. At the time I had been told to listen up for two things: termite infestation and foundation issues. The inspection alerted me to many issues with the home but when it came to the stem wall they only reported on some effervesence on the stem wall. The inspector noted that he would not crawl into the crawl space as it was too small or inaccessible. I have never been called skinny in fact I have been called round shaped before. I fit no problem, and so did Jan, president of Atlas Footing Repair, she is an amazing resource in the world of foundation. One year later, a week or so before I was recalled to active duty for a deployment to Afghanistan, I was approached by a contractor who was working next door on my neighbors stem wall. He informed me that I had very large cracks on my stem wall that appeared to have been poorly repaired or masked. I asked him how he could tell, he said that any inspector's eye could see the stem wall repair and cracks and that they should be listed on my home inspection report since they did not appear to be new. I went inside and reviewd my home inspection report and saw that there was no mention of any cracks in the stem wall or any other mention of the stem wall, with the exception of the effervecence. Well I contacted Countywide Property Inspection and they sent the original inspector and the president of the company, who is also their legal counsel. They denied any omission or negligence. But they clearly did not report on material defect which they define as any "A material defect is a condition that significantly affects the value, desirability, habitability, or safety of the building. Style or aesthetics shall not be considered in determining whether a specific system, structure, or component is defective." Clearly having cracks and patch jobs on the stem wall is something that would affect desirability. So they did me the favor of offering me a full refund of the inspection which doesnt really do much damage to the 13500 estimated repair bill. If you are going to use Countywide Property Inspections, I would steer clear. For all my brothers and sisters in military and law enforcement uniforms, I would ask you to really consider another business since it is not worth the stress on our already stressful existence. Always use them for my Home Inspections... I like how they have at least 5 inspectors ready to work. If one is not available during your perfect time, there's 4 others ready to go. I think I used all the different inspectors and I have no complaints. Only complaint may be from the buyer on the prices for the smaller condos - $265 minimum. I personally think this small price is worth the cost of knowing the problems of your largest investment. They also do service in the Temecula, Murrieta, and Winchester areas. read more

Highly recommend countywide home inspection. The inspector got double booked but they were very nice and gave me a discount for this error after I rescheduled it the next day. Our inspector, Tom D.was very thorough and discovered a number of items that I didn't expect. He really took the time to explain to me every single thing that came up. Choosing a home inspector from the many available is tough. Some inspectors have great websites, training, and numerous certifications, but no experience in home construction. Others may have the experience, but lack the web expertise to highlight it. There are just a few with home construction/renovation experience, training, certifications...and the ability to advertise it on the internet. Countywide Property Inspections is one of those few. I chose Countywide for the reasons indicated above, plus the fact that they have a number of Inspectors available at short notice. They also give you the option to receive a discounted checklist/narrative report rather than the typical boiler-plate report. This reduced format report is great for those who have some knowledge of home construction and/or maintenance and don't require a binder full of boiler-plate verbiage. Richard arrived for the inspection a little early with everything he needed to inspect and document the inspection. He spent four hours inspecting the home and yard while simultaneously answering my questions as I followed. Richard was a knowledgeable, experienced, and patient professional. When he was done, Richard provided my wife and I with the report, a through brief on what it contained, and answered all our questions. I'm a realtor and my wife and I recently used Countywide to do our home inspection, and we're completely disappointed and dissatisfied. Turns out we found out we had a major gas leak in the attic that we found after we closed escrow which required SDG&E to shut off our gas. In addition to the gas leak there were multiple other issues missed by the inspector Armando. I definitely don't plan to ever use them personally or for business, and I don't recommend them for anyone else to use especially when major health and safety concerns are missed like in our case. read more

Armando inspected our house and gave us a report. He didnt bring a ladder so he couldnt inspect the attic.He said he couldnt inspect the A/C because it was to cold outside.The temp. was in the 60's. When you flush the toilet in the master bathroom water comes out the bottom all over the floor and the toilet was lose.You can rock it back and forth. At least he could of caught that by flushing the toilet. He was a nice person but we felt he could of done a better job inspecting. read more
