I've been doing business with CHS for nearly 20 years. I've NEVER had issue with their work and on rare occasion where something isn't to my liking, they've fixed the issue w/o question. Now, if you are one that wants a "fly by night" shop to throw an inspection sticker on your car? Go elsewhere. The crew at CHS performs real safety inspection and I for one like that. My wife and children ride in my vehicles and although I'm aware that "things happen", it's good to know that a second set of TRAINED eyes have had a look and found the vehicle "Safe". I had an appointment to get my front end aligned. Prior to doing the actual work they drove my vehicle to diagnose the problems, came back, put my vehicle on the rack, inspected a few things and then came to tell me that they felt it would do no good to perform an alignment as my lower control arms were worn out completely and needed to be replaced and that it would just be a waste of my money. They quoted me a price for making the repairs. They said if I wanted I could do the work myself to save some money. I am very appreciative for their honesty and for giving me options. They could have very easily done the alignment and let me drive off wasting my money, but they didn't. Steve and his crew are very professional, honest and actually care. Last year during my inspection the people at the dealership where I bought my Honda Accord told me my brakes passed inspection but "really needed to be replaced" ASAP - I elected to NOT have them service the brakes, and 8 months later brought the car to Courthouse Shell. I told them what the dealership said and after examining my brakes they told me there was no problem with them and they do NOT need to be replaced. Courthouse Shell could have just as easily told me there was an issue, made some money off me and I would not have known the difference. Instead they were HONEST and told me the real deal instead of making a quick buck. Steve and his team are top notch. When we moved to VB a few years ago, we struggled to find a trustworthy mechanic. Even the GMC dealership (Southern) seemed sketchy when it came to what work needed to be done and at an elevated price. Steve was able to complete warranty work under my original GMC warranty that I didn't trust Southern GMC to attempt...(After they dropped my truck off the lift!) After the local Charlie Barker Toyota dealership was sold to Hall, we took our Toyota in for our free State Inspection and "Oil Change for Life." I normally take my car to the dealership for state inspections. But, they are 20 minutes away and they don't take appointment for a state inspection. I decided to try some place closer to home. Someone had recommended Courthouse Shell on the Neighborhood app. Since this is the last week of the month, I figured everyone would be busy. I called Monday for an appointment and was given one for Thursday morning. I dropped my car off at 6 am when they open and it was ready by 10:30. There were no issues with the inspection. Since I didn't need my car, it was not a problem leaving it at the station while it was being serviced. Drop off and pickup was a breeze. I will certainly use Courthouse Shell again. read more

I must say that anyone who says you don't get outstanding service at a (Gas Station) hasn't brought their vehicle here to courthouse shell. Have a 99Jeep Cherokee that i use as a daily get around vehicle, AC decided it no longer wanted to work, brought it here, they did a system inspection, leak check and dye. They found the issue, gave me a price quote which seemed reasonable for what needed done. Called my normal mechanic and they for the same job wanted $1100 MORE than Courthouse. Needless to say I will be bringing it here for the repair and most likely any repairs in the future. So very happy to find a diamond in a little building. read more

Beyond excellent service. HONESTY is their greatest feature. They will tell you if you need something fixed now, or if you can wait. When I was car shopping, I took them the few I was interested in and they told me which ones to run away from and which were in great shape. Mind you, any other mechanic would drool over this money making opportunity. But Jason and his great crew have a booming business because they are not corrupt like other shops. Outstanding personal service. My front disc brakes were need of replacement and Mr. Hall (the owner of Courthouse Shell) did a superb job, and I might add under the time quoted. Mr. Hall is quite a gifted mechanic, and he is extremely professional, and is very knowledgeable on a number of old and new model vehicles. The office staff Steve was friendly and very professional. My check engine was on for three weeks. Everybody wanted to do a diagnostic test on top of fixing the proble. I got a quote from one place for$1008 and had to wait two days to schedule the service and wo not guarantee that it would be completed in one day. My coworker referred me so I called and told them what I was told the problem was. I work near this service station and my truck needed a state inspection, so I decided to set up an appointment online. I was able to get in for service within two days. I dropped it off today before 9:00 am, filled out some paperwork and was on my way to work. They had the inspection done before noon, but then called me about a kinked brake line. I gave the OK to fix it and the truck was done shortly after lunch. I appreciate that it was done timely and that they communicated with me while they had my vehicle. Inspection time...I was able to make an appointment online to fit my schedule. That was very convenient! I dropped my car off and was told it would be ready by noon. When I received a call (well before noon) stating my inspection was complete and I was able to pick up my vehicle right away. I don't know anything about cars but I needed my lower bumper cover/undercarriage thingy replaced and the people at Shell were so patient with me (I was so annoying missing phone calls and finding a good time to bring my car in) and then when i finally made a set-in-stone appointment they just had to order the part and got right to work. Courthouse Shell has been a great asset to me due to its convenient location to the City of Virginia Municipal Center. As a long-time city employee, I can drop my vehicle off first thing in the morning and they take care of whatever the need is and give me a call to let me know it's ready! I have always had great service for a few years now, and so have three friends of mine, who also bring their vehicles here. I called the day before to say I'd be dropping off my 2005 Tahoe the following morning for annual inspection, and they said they would try to squeeze me in. New oil pan replacement. I've had oil changes for years by Walmart/Red Mill but the drain plug bolt was destroyed, and so was the pan. I asked the Walmart auto center how this could happen and they said over tightening or cross threading. Even though they damaged the bolt & pan they offered no compensation. Courthouse Shell fixed their destruction at a reasonable rate. Watch out for low cost oil changes...it may cost more in the long run.​ read more

Took my Chevy Equinox in for what we thought was a water pump gone bad. Had only leaked once and they could not find the leak. put some fluorescent liquid in to see where it was leaking. Found a hose that was rotted and a little leak every now and then. Fixed the hose for about $200 as opposed to a water pump which would have cost close to $1,000. Very ethical business. Wouldn't take my cars anywhere else for mechanical service! read more

Dropped my car off for a State Inspection. I work in the City Hall building so it was very convenient to just leave it there for the day. They did ping me for a wiper blade but when I asked how much to replace I was told $8.00. I have been charged triple this amount before at other stations for wiper blades so I was very happy that they were not trying to upsell me. My car was ready as promised.
