I was very happy and excited to see there was a Starbucks coffee shop in the hotel, and my very first morning I woke up to find it CLOSED on a Tuesday morning!!!! I'm sure most people stay here for business and did I ... needless to say I was now in a huge rush to find coffee and get to work on time. I ended up being late. DO NOT advertise coffee if you're not even going to Be open. On top of all that no one who works here is even helpful I'm here with a group and the laundry and laundry room was a huge problem and no one at the front desk was helpful or willing to help in the slightest. It's like they are doing everything they can to cut corners and save money .. not hiring enough help not able to keep the amenities they have open. Hotels are in the hospitality business and this hotel is ALL OUT of hospitality. I brought my entire company here there is about 45 of us in this hotel and NONE of us will be using a courtyard Marriott ever again !! read more

Not bad! I stayed here for one night last week for work. The price was reasonable and the room was a standard Courtyard room. It did seem to be a bit on the older side, but not so much that it bothered me. The reason I didn't give the property 4 stars is because the parking garage is a setting for a bad horror movie. Coming in at night by myself gave me the heebie jeebies. You have to walk quite a ways by yourself and there isnt' a soul around. ON the bright side, the parking was free. read more

Absolutely THE worst customer service I have ever experienced. I work in the service industry and have no idea how the woman at the check in/ out desk 3:35 on 1/25/17 got her job. I am a silver member , I was trying to explain an issue with my bill from the nights stay on 1/23, she interrupted me multiple times, she I didn't listen to the problem, and she said there was no manager to speak to and wouldn't give me a name so I could call back. I travel to southbury every week for business and stay 1-2 nights each week. We have a direct bill through the company and I will ask the company to take this hotel off of the concur booking list. I WILL NEVER stay at this Marriott again. I am so upset by the rudeness. I hope you can identify this employee and take some action regarding her demeanor. It's an ok hotel. Sufficiently clean, decent bathroom, comfortable enough beds. The front desk attendants were nice. The valet attendants were great. Quick. Back to the room, They need newer, bigger TV's, bigger fridges and they need to put microwaves in each room. Dont stay unless you want to risk items being stolen from locked rooms...I stayed at the Waterbury Courtyard in September 2021. My expensive MacBook, camera, and electronics were stolen out of my locked room. Employees had given me keys and access to a room I was not on file for being in, which I assume was their plan. When I came back my items were gone. Hotel had me in another room on another floor yet my clothes were in the other room. Unless it was planned by staff members, I never would've gained access into the wrong room. There are no cameras on any of the floors which I'm sure these scammers knew. The hotel basically said there's nothing they can do and neither can marriot. They took no liability and I am simply out thousands. I frequently stay at marriott branded hotels. The price for this stay was great, but it is getting 3 stars for the simple fact that there was no full length mirror in the room. As i was staying here for a nearby wedding I really wanted to see how my total attire looked. I called for reservations ahead of my drive into town. They were great over the phone. Upon arriving, I found they have complementary hotel parking in the parking structure across the street. Your room key is also the key for parking. It was a bit of a struggle to get all of my wheeled luggage up their steep sidewalk. Inside at the lobby, there was the distinct odor of mold. The lobby flooded recently and they were still battling this in their exercise room, which was closed. They were offering passes to the YMCA instead. Initially, my room key didn't work so I had to go back down to have it activated. My room was on he 8th floor. The entire hotel is non-smoking and the room was nice. The bed was a pillow top and comfy. There was a couch, a pull out desk and a large flat screen tv. The free WIFI worked flawlessly. They offer coffee and tea service in the lobby you can help yourself to at anytime. I ate dinner at the bar since the downtown area was basically dead due to it being Columbus Day and the German restaurant I scoped out I found was closed Monday nights. The bartender was friendly. They serve homemade potato chips as an appetizer with your drink. Dinner was the "catch of the day" scallops and the fries were tasty. To drink, the happy hour red wine (I think it was Ravenswood) I didn't like as much as the house chardonnay. With two glasses of wine and dinner plus salad starter, the bill was $24 which was absolutely reasonable. I'd stay here again. It's a business class hotel. read more

We're part of a wedding party and couldnt book a room through their normal website. Experdia had rooms available so we booked through a 3rd party. Knowing there might be a conflict, we called to confirm availability with the Marriot staff. All was well. Just as an extra precaution, we booked a room at the Hilton down the street. As the date of our reservation approached, we called TWICE more to confirm our marriot reservation. Once was to verify, the 2nd was to be assured we no longer needed the Hilton reservation. Confirmation # 97346823 When we arrived, we were told they were overbooked (which we already knew) and we did NOT have a room despite all of the communication and approvals. After some arguing, they were able to provide us a room but the television wasnt working. They attempted to fix it the following day, which we did appreciate, but the channels still appear to suffer from some kind of signal loss. It was just a very disappointing experience and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

Lobby presents a nice ambiance and receptionist was very welcoming. However the room was basic as there is no fridge or microwave. I could deal with this being we only stay one night and were here for graduation. I expected a little more from a Marriott, but hey it was only for 1 night and free parking was a plus. Usually would give more stars for this hotel, but they are doing construction. After driving 19 hours to spend Thanksgiving with the family, we were woken up at 730am by hammering on Thanksgiving day. Seriously! You couldnt wait or take the day off. That went on intil 1030. Called front desk about hammering only to talk to a snooty lady, who wasnt concerned. The stairs were blocked by construction materials and filthy, definate fire hazard. Then our "remodeled" room was sub-par. The old ac unit sounded like a mac truck parked next to the bed. The toilet ran all day and night constantly. I stayed here for a week and was extremely disappointed with the staffs attitude, especially the night shift. I have seen other reviews that mention this and it was a very bad experience. I stayed here for a week for work and the valet shamed our group twice for ordering food deliveries- we work nights so we usually have to order food after our work. If not we reply on the food market downstairs and if you plan on grabbing a snack be aware it will take 20 mins for the front desk to help you. Overall the attitude of staff and late night shift were not eager to help and extremely rude. I will never stay here again. read more

This hotel does not guarantee adjoining rooms when parents are traveling with young children. They claim it is only a request. When I told them I had a 2 and 5 year old they suggested they would get us in rooms as close as possible. That is incredibly unsafe and irresponsible. read more

I am still horrified with my experience at this Marriott location. Where to begin. The room we were given wasn't cleaned for starters. There were beer bottles and towels laying around. The bed was done but you could tell that it had been done in a rush. This was a complete covid violation. Then we proceeded to wait for 30 minutes for our next room. We didn't receive an apology or explanation it was almost as if this happened all the time here. We finally were given another room but not the room we had wanted or initially payed for. Our new room was now on the fourth floor and as soon as the elevator doors open we were consumed with the smell of vomit. There was food in the hallways the carpet was stained we were utterly and completely stunned. Here we were thinking, we were taking the safer route by staying at what we had thought to be a well respected reliable company. Picture speak loader then word I took a few of our experience here. To sum up my nightmare at the Courtyard Marriott: Stay at the Courtyard Marriott if you want to have your room changed, piss in your bathtub, no running water and bad customer service. This was absolutely the WORST hotel experience of my life! I've stayed in motels, camping sites, and hostiles in third world countries that were better than staying at the Courtyard Marriot in Waterbury. They absolutely ruined my families wedding weekend. Our first night in, there was urine in our hotel bathtub, URINE! When we told the front desk, they sent someone up to clean it who told us that it was only "yellow water." I told her, if it was just water, to take the Pepsi Challenge on it or to take some of it on her glove to smell. She refused and cleaned it up as if we somehow caused this problem. We asked that they speak to management about this and the next morning when we spoke to management (for an unrelated issue), it was the first that they'd heard about it. I asked if they sufficiently check the rooms prior to having other guests check in and the response was along the lines of "Your guess is as good as mine." The other issue: As stated, we checked in months in advance for a suite for the bride and groom--which we showed them the documentation for--and instead they gave us a regular room, stating that they had simply overbooked. There were plenty of wedding parties that weekend and when I asked a couple how far back they booked a suite, they said, "Just a few weeks ago." If anyone should have been kicked out of their suite, it should have been attendants from another wedding, not my family. The morning of the wedding: THERE WAS NO WATER! FOR TWO HOURS! All of the groomsmen were trying to shave and shower for the big day and we couldn't even do that! Since the toilet wouldn't work, we had to take trips across the street and go at the local gas station. One groomsman was in the middle of shaving when the water turned off and showed up at the wedding with red bumps on his face as a result of skin irritation (from not being able to shower). As a result, we rushed to get ready and the videographer had a difficult time filming anything in such a small room. The hotel (i.e. Tiffany Wilson) would not comp us for our rooms after such a horrific two day stay in this hell hole, instead, offering us "points" for any future rentals. AS IF WE'D EVER STAY THERE AGAIN! If I could give this place 0 stars, I would, because they showed absolutely no concern for this special occasion and wouldn't even comp us for their mistakes. The only thing convenient about this hotel is the location. We got married at the Palace Theater. This hotel is conveniently located near the Palace Theater and so we assumed it was the best place for our family and guests stay at for the duration of the wedding celebrations. The hotel misspelled our name on the notice board that they put out to inform our guests about details for the wedding. This is just a taste of the way the hotel staff treated us. We spent over 3 months trying to set up a room block which contained 52 nights stay at the hotel spread out over 6 days. The delay in setting up the room block meant we ended up sending out our invites later that we had planned. We spent a significant amount of time either calling the hotel, leaving messages or sending emails. It is difficult to get a hold of the staff at the hotel and they are not responsive to voicemails or emails sent. Once the room block was set up and guests started booking, the hotel considers it your responsibility to check in with them regarding whether the room block has been filled. They will not check the status of the room block for you to help you keep a track of whether you need to extend your room block. With their delay in responding to any inquiries and their unwillingness to notify you that the room block is filling up, our friends and family ran into issues. Further still cancelling a room at the hotel is likely to take about 3-4 phone calls or emails and even then you will need to fight to ensure that you have received a cancellation number and confirmation that the room is canceled. We ended up having to intervene to have the hotel actually respond to the cancelation requests which were sent well ahead of time to avoid any cancellation fees. While the hotel lobby appears to be well maintained, the rest of the hotel is not. The hotel appears to be understaffed as there are very few people at the front desk and the cleaning staff. Some of the guests for the wedding mentioned to us after the wedding that the hotel did not clean their rooms. I do not recommend working with this hotel as they do not live up to the high standards that we have seen at other Marriott hotels. read more

Staff was rude. After I checked in, I had went to the front desk to ask about sheets for the pullout sofa bed, there were 2 people behind the desk, one person ahead of my in line. One of the front desk staff went to the other desk, which I thought she was doing so to help me. When I walked towards her she said "sorry honey, I'm tired and I just want to go home so unless its something quick then you'll have to wait for the other person to help you." The bartender turned the lights off on us while we were sitting in the lounge (after a wedding) finishing our drinks and talking with others in our party, without warning because the "bar was closed". Then the gentleman working at the front desk came and yelled at us like children that the bar is closed and we needed to go to our rooms. Very unprofessional, no social or people skills. We were there as part of a room block, clearly bringing in a lot of business (between the rooms/parking/bar). On top of this, the toilet in our bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned, there were all hairs on the seat, The soap dish was moldy, and in the hallway was all dry vomit on the wall that clearly had been there for quite some time. I've stayed in many Marriott hotels, and this was by far the worst I have ever been to between the cleanliness and unprofessional staff. read more

This is the only Marriott I think I have ever stayed at that had an elliptical machine in the gym. I am fine with the steppers and treadmills but sometimes you just want an elliptical! So thank you Waterbury Marriott! The breakfast included a lot of fresh fruit which was delicious. Also, instead of charging us for using the buffet, we were only charged for what we ate! That was surprising! Not that I really cared since I was there on business but it is nice to not be overcharged. Also, the staff was ultra nice. I had wanted to reserve a room with a jacuzzi but then they were out of them when I got there so they discounted my room rate. Another instance of not being overcharged! I was so tired when I got dinner and they kept the coffee coming which was much appreciated. I would definitely return to this Marriott! read more

As the war between Front Desk and Housekeeping rages on, innocent guests are caught in the crossfire. Want your room made up? Forget it. Even after repeated requests and assurances from Front Desk that your room will be cleaned or "heads will roll." How about just some clean towels? Not a chance. "Housekeeping will bring them right up when they're back from break" says Front Desk. Two hours later and no towels, a polite call downstairs to Front Desk reveals that "Housekeeping has left the building" and would we mind going downstairs to get them ourselves. All these battles plus minor skirmishes over the horrible coffee from the "Starbucks" in the lobby. (If that's a real Starbucks then pigs can fly.) And the fact that parking is 12.00 per day ("no discounts.") And the surrounding neighborhood is, literally, a war zone, leads me to the recommendation that staying at this hotel is best left to battle hardened veterans and not innocent civilians such as myself. read more

Everything is clean and comfortable. Reserved two rooms right next to each other. The front desk was polite. Angela our waitress at the restaurant was so kind, attentive and professional. Dinner was wonderful. I wish there were a sauna but the pool (up to 5 feet) and hot tub were amazing. read more

This was my first time here since they remodeled, the lobby and room looks brighter, clean and updated. Ate at The Bistro, where the staff (Annelia) was super friendly and helpful by providing her menu favorites. All the food came out promptly. The Shrimp Pot Stickers were very tasty. Southwestern Cobb Salad was large and fresh tasting. Rigatoni with Sausage was good, the sausage had a nice fennel flavor. Martinis were large. We were able to take drinks up to the room, which is a nice perk. read more

In my opinion a 3 star rating is high for a franchised high rise hotel and that's what I give them. I have attended many business gatherings there (chamber, leads groups, Healthcare council, etc) and always they have pulled it nicely. 90% of the time the food is above my expectations, most of the time they serve a good quantity and the staff seems up to the challenge of serving large amounts of people. The hotel, once in a while puts together a party to thank their business customers. The last party I attended was imaginative (around Christmas they filled a ballroom with sand and made a big beach party with BBQ an all). A month ago a friend of mine got married and all her out of town family stayed at the Courtyard so I spent a few hours there. The rooms are clean and the staff was very attentive. Stayed here on a Saturday night for a show. Room was clean no funny smells,lobby very looked new. Did not get a chance to enjoy the in-house bar area. Walked into pool area forgot bathing suit, however compared to the other areas of the hotel in need of renovation. For the price it's perfect to stay for a show or business. read more

For the corporate traveler this Hotel is a little better than most courtyards. There is an actual restaurant as well as the market. The prices in the restaurant are a little over priced however, I have eaten there for dinner three times and the food each time was good. The break feast buffet did not look that great and for 13 a person, I did not think it was worth it. I got the light version(oatmeal and fruit and drinks) for 4 bucks. The staff is very helpful. While I was there the fitness area was under construction due to the damage of the hurricane. The staff located a gym for me and arranged some free visits. The room was pretty clean. I stayed in a King suite and it had the flat screen TVs and all. The only negative I had was that the parking was about 75 yards away from the hotel in the back. It is a parking garage however, there is no cover getting there from the hotel. I will be back in the area again soon and will stay here again. read more
