Great service, great atmosphere good coffee. It has it all. Only negative is location. It's way up on the far east of Bakersfield.

I had PD (professional development) at nearby Cato MS and I was really needing coffee. So I searched up nearby places that were eclectic and Summit popped up. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the young lady at the main counter. She was very efficient and knowledgeable as the barista. I ordered a small French Vanilla Iced Latte and a Chocolate Muffin. My bill came out to a reasonable $7.50 not counting tip. The interior is ideal for a bookworm or something seeking solace in a quiet and large setting. The ladies' restroom was clean and spacious. One can seat themselves outside as well but in Bakersfield, that may not be an option until October! There is plenty of parking available. I did not see a drive-through and that is ok with me. The latte was delicious and the muffin is large enough to share but I doubt anyone would because it is really good. read more

Summit Coffee has quickly become my go-to spot, and I'm absolutely hooked! The staff is always warm and welcoming, which makes every visit feel inviting. On my first trip, I was a little overwhelmed since they don't offer the typical "specialty" drink menu. I asked the barista for a recommendation, and wow--she did not disappoint! She suggested an iced latte with toasted marshmallow and white mocha. I went for a large with an extra shot (needed that caffeine boost for studying), and it was incredible. Ever since, it's been my go-to order. Today's visit was an even bigger treat. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the irresistible aroma of freshly baked goods. I learned they make all of their pastries in-house! I was recommended the cinnamon muffin, which had just come out of the oven--and let me tell you, it was ooey-gooey perfection. Moist, sweet, generously sized, and only $2.75! My 16 oz iced latte was $5.75, which is super reasonable. To top it off, they source their beans from a local roaster who's deeply passionate about the craft. I love knowing I'm supporting a local coffee shop that, in turn, supports other small local businesses. Couldn't recommend this place more read more

The best coffee! I am from Washington state and was visiting Bakersfield. I was looking for a coffee shop that wasn't Starbucks or Dutch Bros, as in Washington everyone knows those are the best coffee shops. I believe local coffeeshops can give you many good hints about the community that surrounds it! For example, cozy interior and free Wi-Fi serving delicious coffee and espresso drinks may tell you that a community is either made up of professionals who work remotely or students who go to a school nearby. In the same setting, couches setup facing each other may tell you that this is a tightly neat community that enjoys a good conversation over a good cup of coffee. So every time I pass through a town, I try to stop for a cup of coffee and spend a little time at the local coffeeshop. In my last trip, passing through Bakersfield, I decided to look for a new coffeeshop that I have not tried yet and decided on Summit Coffee. The coffeeshop is across the street from the Canyon Hills Assembly of God church. It is located in a big building (bigger than I am used to seeing local coffeeshops) and has a nice outside seating area. They offer a variety of pastries and more importantly coffee drinks at very reasonable prices. I had me a latte and enjoyed it. The coffee tasted very good and the latte was done the right way. The young lady who served as the barista was very nice and polite. I also noticed a couple of gentlemen sitting there and working on their laptops. Apparently the Café offers free Wi-Fi as well. Crappy coffee. We ordered latte frio and iced mocha. The latte frio tastes like nothing and the mocha felt like chocolate syrup mixed with milk, could barley taste the coffee. Ambiance was weird because it wasn't on their directions that a church was connected to it , so all we heard was worship music. Something dumb is that they have an iced latte and a latte frio which are the same thing (I searched it up ). On the bright side the cinnamon muffin was good and the service was quick. read more

The location is great, if not perfect! It's a beautiful place both inside and out! Perfect to work or study (wifi available although few outlets) or just sit around and take in the fresh air and warm sun :) their iced vanilla latte was very good (and huge serving) and their chocolate chip scone a delicious treat!! The coffee was delicious (I got an oatmilk toffee latte, which was perhaps one of the best lattes I've gotten in Bakersfield. Perfectly sweet while still espresso forward!) and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Lots of space for studying and big windows for natural light (great for when you're trying to power through notes and it's been freezing at home)! I spent a couple hours there studying for a college exam and appreciated the chill attitude of the staff. Next time I go I'll include a photo of my coffee, but 5 stars all the way. read more

Decent spot located near the East side. Not many options this way. Luckily, this is a situation fo quality over quantity. Place is simple and part of a church. Coffee is decent and fairly priced. Their coffee is a darker roast and very coffee forward. I might opt for shorter shots in my lattes in the future. We ordered pick up and the process was easy. The place is fairly simple in the inside and the service was pleasant; we walked in, grabbed our drinks and walked out in under a minute. We'll definitely be back. read more

Once inside you can enjoy a good selection of coffees, gelato, and Affogato (spelling?). The place is always sparkly clean. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Also, If the coffee is not enough to keep you warm, you can seat by the fire and read a book or just relax on the couch. But beware not to fall asleep! Their couches are as comfy as it gets. Beautiful location and I imagine a popular place after service. They serve Pete's coffee which isn't my favorite. I went there to study, ordered a coffee and pastry and began my work. The hours on the door were wrong and the person working the counter cleaned the place and put the chairs on the table then took a picture of me still sitting there. I was so deep in study I didn't realize they were closing. The picture was pretty inconsiderate, she could have just mentioned something especially considering the sign on the door was wrong. Been a while since we stopped by this coffee shop. When our kids went to school at Thorner, we frequently stopped by here to get coffee and some treats. They serve Peet's Coffee and I believe could be the first one to serve it here in town! I love how this place hasn't changed since... still very clean, cozy & staff are friendly & helpful. They also have very good and tasty baked goods. Our daughter always loved their scones so on our recent visit, she got them again and she says they are still as good! I genuinely enjoy this spot, the employees are nice/respectful and the drinks are good !! However, I'm giving this place a low rating because of a man who is always there, now at first I didn't think anything of it but after going back on multiple occasions, I noticed he cannot help but STARE, not glance for a moment but STARE. It makes me super uncomfortable, and by the looks of it he camps out on the side of this business with all of his belongings. I'm not sure why a manager or someone in charge hasn't addressed this, I know for a fact I am not the only woman who feels uncomfortable with this man being around and I stopped by for today's event and again I felt uncomfortable. So with that being said, today I felt as if I had to speak up about this reoccurring situation. Clean, spacious, strong flavorful coffee, and a friendly staff. In the winter, there's always a fire burning in the large fire place next to the cozy couch. In the evenings, you can hear band members practicing and preparing for service. Found this coffee shop, while my SO and I were paying our storage, all the way on Kern Canyon Rd. This place had few customers seating at their tables, typing on their computers. Pretty quiet, and out of the city which is what we were craving for that day. Ordered 2 mocha lattes, they were sooo delicious and so were the chocolate and pumpkin cupcakes that we got. I loved the fact that it's a local business and had some outdoor seating, with chairs and couches, with the view of the Canyon. The coffee shop seems nice enough, but it's not a friendly atmosphere. Baristas could be more welcoming, even just a "How are you?" would have made our experience better. Coffee tastes old and burnt. Asked for vanilla, and there was none... Well, maybe there's vanilla but the burnt coffee covers all the flavor so there may as well be none. 3 people behind the counter, no mask on a single one. Prices are reasonable, they use Pete's coffee, which has a good taste and pastries are fresh. If you want a break from over commercialized coffee places, this one is it. read more
