I absolutely love this place! I have family in the area and every visit now has Cover's for breakfast. The French toast is great! Their apple products are excellent! I just got home and am looking forward to my next visit. read more

I love Cover's! Always have always will! The pies are amazing and I've been eating the turnovers since I was a kid and the barn was across the street. I will always give this place a good review! But the sandwich I ordered yesterday was not worth $8. The bread was two different sizes, not lined up right, my onions were non existent, tomatoes were scarce, and the mayo/mustard that they put on seemed to be leaking all over the place. Packaged turkey (good quality from diestle, but they literally grabbed 4 pieces and stuck it on. So it was like a thick slab of turkey... Ehh. Maybe buy a big one and slice it yourself so it doesn't have that pre-packaged taste?) .. I may be picky because I work at a place that makes amazing sandwiches and I'm spoiled? But I expected the same good quality from Covers and did not receive it. I was disappointed more than anything... But I will try it again! Just maybe no sandwiches for a little while... By the way, congratulations on the baby lamb!! So sweet!! read more

We were very disappointed in our trip to Covers. We aren't from a big city with high expectations, but still we expected more overall. Our wait in every line was excruciating long. The staff was not friendly in any way even though they were painful aware of the waits. No one working there seemed to be excited to share the farm or info about apples or the cider. We had very mediocre sandwiches with the worst fries ever. $42 for 3 lunches, drinks and a loaf of stale bubble bread. We were not impressed. We tried to make the best of our outing by enjoying the animals which were living in tight, dirty quarters. They really need a staff person working outside. The rotting pumpkins lurking in the pumpkin patch needto be addressed, as well as the piles of garbage seemingly hidden. The wait in the sun for the train ride was uncomfortable for everyone as it was 94 degrees. Not so fun in metal cars with a toddler. But, the worst was the conductor and his assistant....no all aboard or tickets please just lacking in any emotion. We didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling at Covers, and we will not be returning. read more

In a word: the BEST Apple dumplings on the planet. Thank you for presenting such high quality food with excellent service. Keep up the great work!! read more

I love everything about this place. If you just want a simple delicious home cooked (or baked) meal or dessert, do yourself a favor and come in. They don't buy frozen things to heat up and pass off as "homemade" they actually hand make everything there and nearly every worker behind the counter is covered in flour. If they're not behind the counter they're running around the acreage tending to the farm. Every person there is clearly a hard worker. And it shows. Tip? Sour cream apple pie. Burgers. Applesauce. Cider. read more

I've taken my boys to Covers for several years now. The staff is very friendly and we ride the train.

Thank you for always being a place our kiddos enjoy! We rode the train, fed the animals and had lunch yesterday and it was a perfect way to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall. We also picked up an apple pie for my MIL birthday and it was delish! read more

Great place to bring the family for weekend lunch. My son loves the animals and train ride. Has a happy friendly atmosphere and good food.

Great food and helpful friendly staff. The country biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had. Hands down the best home-style breakfast you will find. read more

I bought corn nuts & bubble breads. They were average at best. We were there at a slow time & only a few other people but the woman working seemed annoyed to be waiting on us. We wondered around to see the grounds. Although the small pens for the animals in the little petting zoo were pretty clean it was disturbing that all the animals, from chickens, goats, calves & pony were on concrete floors and looked miserable. read more

The food was delicious. We had the apple cider cookie, an apple dumpling, apple cider, and ranch corn nuts. For everything it was only $13 and very worth it. However, I must say that I felt a little uncomfortable and even unwelcome in some moments, but that usually happens when your entire group is not white and/or heterosexual. read more

Great place to stop and have lunch! Lots of baked goods. Good hamburger. Great flavor. Apple turnover was amazing! Food tastes fresh. Cute train and play area with pond for the kids. Friendly people! read more

We went here for breakfast one morning. I love the pies here but have always taken them to go. The wait was so long for the small breakfast we had. I don't think I have ever waited this long for breakfast before. That was disappointing ,the good was good but not great. It us a nice place to get Cider and pies to go but skip eating here if you have things go do. read more

You really can't go wrong here. Mile high apple pie is delectable. Also when in season their pumpkin cheesecake is amazing. Such great people too. read more

I heard about this place through a friend, and had to see what it was all about. We came on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded. The train runs on the hour, every hour. My kids enjoyed feeding the animals and the train ride. My husband and I thought their food was simply amazing. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and fries, and he had a pastrami sandwich with fries. I know they're just sandwiches, but they were seriously so good, even the fries! I had a handful of desserts, the apple pie being my favorite, but they were all pretty good. We'll definitely be back! read more

Cover's Apple Ranch is one of my all time favorite places to go for a nice cup of coffee and pie. They also have decent sandwhiches and quiche and now they have a little salad bar. They have dinner on Friday nights. The breads are wonderful - I especially love the cinnamon apple bread, wonderful for breakfast. They have farm fresh veggies too - squash, tomotoes etc... and the atmosphere is as good as the food. Everyone is friendly and it is a pleasure to go there for a relaxing lunch or just to enjoy a piece of apple pie. Oh and they have a little gift shop and some great books, some are old used books, fun to go through. The view is wonderful and the smell of apples lingers in the air. read more

Best food made from scratch and their pies are to die for. My favorite is the cider and the French toast because the maple syrup is homemade. Great place to visit! read more

Pricey but good food. Play area is really nice - the kids love it!

I love this place. Have been coming for years. It's so nice just mill around, visiting the animals, riding the train, and playing outside. All their food and snacks have been good and staff is very nice. read more

Just bought a pear berry pie for the family. It was absolutely the best. Love eating here when in the area.

I can't believe the other negative reviews... This is a great place for the family, and to have a great lunch or breakfast. Yes they may be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. And they have quality food. Amazing biscuits and gravy, amazing pastries. I have their homemade turkey pot pie cook in the oven right now. A great spot to take the kids to see animals. I highly recommend this place especially for families read more

I've been coming to this apple farm since I was a little kid in the 80's (when it was called Sonka's), and I can say with great confidence that it was good then, and it's even better now. The farm has become a regular stop for my family and friends, and is conveniently located on our way to and from the Sierras. For us the train ride is the highlight, which is big enough for kids and adults, and winds all around the property past a pond, alligator swamp and through two tunnels with interesting props along the way. Did I mention that it runs on biodiesel! Feeding the animals is also a highlight, and there is a play structure for kids and plenty of open space to roam around. There is now a restaurant with a good variety of options for everyone. Plenty of seating inside, or outside on the grass. The apple cider and apple sauce are the best I've ever had, and then there are the pies -they are amazing, and made in the large open kitchen right there behind the counter. A must have! read more

what can i say other than ....Thank You, thank you for being there for breakfast lunch and dinner great food and awesome pastries, awesome place to bring the family and have a meal, the breads are fresh the meat is so good and have you ever had a chicken pot pie sooooo gooood, and speaking of pie how about a mile hi apple pie OMG soooo good read more

Covers is one of the best places for breakfast in the Sonora area, hands down. Everything is fresh and homemade, including the awesome breads, pastries, jellies, apple cider, and of course the pies! Everyone that works there is super nice and it really is a hidden gem in our county. If you are visiting, you just have to go, you won't regret it. Take it from a local! Not open on Sunday's, just to let you know. read more

Always bring the kids for the train rides. Seems kind of touristy - lots of little odds and ends to buy. You know, sticks of honey in 35 flavors next to the cash register, etc.. Train rides are great for the under 10 set, but are only available at certain times - better call to check first. And anything apple is awesome. read more

Five stars for the railroad ride for kids. Good pie, adequate coffee as well as apple juice etc. Well worth a trip, especially if you have small kids. read more

Cover's Apple Ranch is a place I plan on returning to. Their food is excellent, especially their taco soup, BLTs, and cider cookies. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. read more

Bought their triple berry pie at the Sonora Farmers Market yesterday. Finally had a piece tonight and it was heaven. We'll be back for more.

Really loved the biscuits and sausage gravy and the French Toast is fabulous. This was the best biscuits and sausage gravy I've ever had(besides Mom's of course). The biscuits were homemade and the sausage is homemade. The only difficult part was knowing where to order and they were out of coffee, I had to ask them to make coffee and had to wait about 15-20 min. for coffee, which was a real disappointment. However, I will be back because the food was that good. read more

I love this place! They have a wide selection of wonderful foods, some pre-made for customers in a hurry and other menu items made to order for dine-in customers. The quality of their goods can't be beat. The Covers and their staff members are some of the nicest and friendliest around. The only reason that I can't give 5 stars (and I feel bad about it) is because the service for dine-in customers is very slow. I don't know if the kitchen is simply too small to handle all of the orders or if the problem is not enough of a cook staff. Either way, if you're eating there at a busy time, plan to wait quite a long time. This is not a place to take really hungry children. The play and farm animal areas definitely are fun places for the kids to visit, though. Kids will love the little train ride around the property, too. The Covers have lots of neat things in their little gift shop. Overall, this is a great place to go if you can spend some time there. read more

I had a ball here my two year old great granddaughter loves the train and me and my granddaughter love,s the food ,perfect family restaurant, can't wait to go back ! read more

Fun to check out the animals. Purchased some Arkansas Black apples for a very good price and look forward to trying them. The iced apple walnut cookies were soft and delicious, and I liked the frosting ratio and the amount of walnuts in them! Bought some cider to take home and 2 sour cream apple pies. Decided to reheat the pies and they are oh so delicious! I could eat 1/2 a pie but will not, it's that tempting. The bakery case was looking very empty. As we were waiting in line to pay they just started to replenish the pies and cookies. I wish I knew they had more in back. Next time I'll be sure to ask. Looking forward to trying more items another time! read more

Pretty darn good pie, but amazing iced cider apple cookies. When I die I want to be buried in a cider cookie coffin, or cremated with cookies on the side. Do not try to eat just one if you are dieting, it can't be done. read more

Delish, home cooked food, outstanding desserts, their pies are amazing! Must visit!

i remember when it became soncas and then covers again. my mom loved it because it was like homemade. i could name about thirty of her friends who whold always go there at least three to four times a year after the families grew up and oh yes moved to other parts of the country. covers gave them the same fine pies as they would of baked and served when they were cooking for their family and friends over the christmas and new years holidays. we should always refer to christmas as christmas, after all if it wasn't for christ we wouldn't have christmas. read more

Wow what nice folks and their fresh squeezed Pomegranate juice was out of this world!

If you love fudge make the trip to Cover's. So creamy and the flavors are amazing. The apple baked goods a house specialty, fabulous. During the Holiday Season they make a fruit cake that is filled with nuts and fruit. It has been a favorite in our family for the last 4 years, when we fisrst got one as a gift. Don't miss Cover's Apple Ranch a really special place. Your tummy will thank you. read more

As a Sonora resident for over 25 years ,the "covers" have had outstanding service and food. Even when the "business" was located across the street it had been built over 100 years ago. The Covers regrouped and built a newer and more expansive place. Their the nicest family around. Their kitchen abound with not only the "FAMOUS" Mile high apple pie but they do all sorts of pies and meals are now there for everyone.. The family runs the business and as a former manufacturing rep who brought in the many gift items sold in their store ,I was treated as a family member.. This family is very dear to many here in the county and beyond. The farm, the train sometimes errors happen, but they will try and correct it. Their apple trees are the best apples especially in the late fall they get Arkansas black apples. The "homemade food" gifts are treats to die for as the hoe made fudge.. When your in there all you have to smell the aroma and that "diet" your so proud of ?,well say bye bye its out the window . Oh yeah don't forget the homemade breads, honey, jams and nuts, fruits .. All home grown... They also do special orders over the phone .. Thanksgiving time is busy so I suggest call ahead and order thoe pies ,Apple ,Pumpkin,Berry, you won't ever regret it.. just ask my scale .... read more
