I have written a review for Cowbells before but it bears repeating. There is just nothing else like this place. The french toast is off the hook. My favorite breakfast is an egg white omelet with mushroom, spinach and bacon. The fresh fruit is actually fresh and the people are amazing. Dave behind the grill, comes out smiling and says hello to his customers. His enthusiasm for his business is reflected in the food. Its fresh, carefully made and beautifully presented. The waitstaff always impresses me. My favorite is Kim. She is sassy, fun and always greets her clients with a smile. I love this place and Whitman is lucky to have it. Picked up a to go order from a woman that seemed like she didn't want anything to do with people. She Placed the to go order on the counter like i'm a dog and said a fake thank you while walking away. Also, when you arrive at the cafe you have to pray for someone to show up at the counter. They hang out in the kitchen a lot. You have to pray to the gods for them to show up or if you wanna pay and you have to be somewhere you're gonna have to do it 15 minutes in advance because no one's at the counter. and if they see a new customer waking in the cafe, they will act like they don't see you and hide in the kitchen. Overall it's a miserable place, take your business elsewhere like Nellies. read more

Such a quaint little cafe in the heart of a small South Shore town. The interior is clean, and decorated in a very humbling and comforting scheme. The staff is friendly and even engaging with children as well. I have an affinity for corned beef hash. I ordered a simple hash and eggs with the hash well done. Much to my surprise when it was served, the corned beef had the color of a real, fresh cooked corned beef slab, was cooked well as I asked, but more importantly had peppers and onions that were very particularly julienned. This was probably one of the best servings of corned beef has I've had in years. Everything here is fresh and delicious. I love the crunchy shredded hash browns. The hash is good but not the best I've had. I am not a super fan of mush corn beef, although it more than makes up for it with it's freshness. I just prefer my hash to be shredded corn beef. Like another reviewer states- pee before you leave home. Bathroom is accessible outside only. Waitress are always super friendly and my bill always makes sense and is legible something I find can be lacking in breakfast spots. read more

Service was excellent our waitress was very personable extremely easy to talk to. She checked on us just enough. We were given a side of complimentary Blueberry Cake. (FYI this isn't the norm) My husband ordered the Meat Lovers Omelette with a side of Sausage. Hubby had a good amount of meat and cheese. The omelette was filled with from the beginning to the end also his side of sausage was cooked perfectly. My Corned Beef Hash Omelette was good, however, Nellie Rose Corned Beef Omelette was excellent. Cute place. Tasty coffee. Above average cornbeef hash. They let me have a single French toast, which was yummy. My only issue is that they do hashbrowns vs. homefries. I prefer freshly diced red bliss potatoes. As a side note: bathroom has very poor access. read more

I really enjoy this place. It is a family run business and the food is like home cooking. Once of my favorites here is biscuits with sausage gravy. Their version is about as good as you will find anywhere. Since they don't offer it with eggs, I order a couple of eggs on the side, and it's fine. The waitresses are sweet and attentive. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the fact that they don't take credit cards, and you have to use the ATM to get cash, which costs a few dollars extra. Of course, I realize that some of the fee goes back to the restaurant owners, but I don't mind very much because their prices are very modest. All in all, a very enjoyable little cafe. read more

This place rules!! Came this morning for the first time with my guitarist and was blown away! The breakfast was straight and to the point, the waitresses were all incredibly friendly, the chef (i think) came out and was saying "hi" as well. The food was on point. I got the veggie omelette with swiss and whole wheat toast. Everything was cooked perfectly and the hashbrowns were unwordly good!! It's one of those small town hole in the wall gems. Went here today after visiting Bostonian Barber Shop down the street! Great food, prices and staff! I had a banana iced coffee which was very pleasant! Delicious food! My husband and I get breakfast to-go from here at least twice a week. They have THE BEST omelettes and all of the food is always hot and perfect. Really friendly staff. This place is great. My husband was craving a turkey club sandwich, so we decided to try Cowbells for the first time since we moved here- 3 years ago! The food was delicious, reasonable prices, made quickly, and the staff were all very friendly. Wish we had decided to try it sooner. We will definitely be back again soon! Here's what you need to know: I am a corned beef hash snob. Guilty as charged. I can taste canned CBH a mile away. I took a bite of the homemade CBH at my first visit to Cowbells and LITERALLY said, "Wow." Out loud. I would have said more, but I was busy shoveling it into my face and probably grunting. So far so good with Whitman's latest breakfast place. (Farewell, Maggs, we hardly knew ye.) Portions are decent, the selection is a little limited but it's all very well done. French toast on funky bread (is that brioche?), big pancakes, and did I mention the CBH? Someone commented on a FB board that this place charges for coffee refills--I didn't notice, but it's not the sort of thing that will turn me away. Considering the other "meh" breakfast options in town (lookin' at you, Millies), Cowbells is now the go-to choice. read more

This is a small spot. Maybe 10 tables or so. They seem to do a decent amount of pick-up business though. I love that they do hashbrowns. They can be hard to find in NE for some reason. Lots of parking options, small inside space but plenty of open seats. Wait staff was super friendly and had coffee and menus for me as soon as I sat down. Table could have been wiped better as my sweater sleeves stuck to the edge of the table when I first sat. Maybe it was a busy Saturday and I had just missed the rush...moving on... The Irish Benedict was fantastic, star of the show, eggs were poached perfectly, hash was crispy and homemade. My only issues...for $14 it wasn't a more generous portion of hash, and was only served on 1/2 English, the other half was served dry like a garnish. Got a side of biscuits and gravy to try as well. The gravy was hot and delicious but the biscuits had a weird soapy taste. Unfortunate because for a side the portion size was huge! Took a few bites to make sure i wasn't just getting a "pocket" of unmixed baking soda but couldn't get away from it, so I passed. Waitress was made aware of the "off" taste before I paid. Daughter at dance competition at WHHS, had down time and went off Yelp reviews. Really really good breakfast spot. Very very reasonable prices and good portions. Had the western omelet with English muffin. Was worried the English muffin would be under toasted as I prefer well-done, but the grilled it. Even better! Omelet was delicious, only slight drawback would be that it didn't appear the ham was grilled before being placed into omelet. I almost requested it, but wasn't completely awake. Oh well. Was still really good. Coffee was good and comes in large mugs. A little slow on the refill, but I wasn't in a hurry, so not a huge deal. Waitstaff appears to take a team approach to the small dining room, which is great. I really am not sure who "my" actually waitperson was, but for that size/style of place, works well. If they are splitting tips, take it from a former waiter to remember this before leaving and tip accordingly! Best breakfast in town. We used to go to uncle chucks until we stumbled upon this gem. I'm a huge corned beef hash fan and cowbells has the best homemade cornbeef hash I've had anywhere. Loving Cowbells!! The decor is really cute. The service was excellent. Coffee really great too! They had pumpkin coffee by we didn't try it.
