We opted for the Family Meal for Four, and for the price, the value is incredible. Rotisserie Chicken: Absolutely cooked to perfection. It was incredibly flavorful and juicy--exactly what you want from a rotisserie spot. The Sides: We are big fans of variety, so we tried the Mashed Potatoes, Ranchero Beans, and the Twice Baked Potaters. Those potaters were the absolute star of the show--definitely my personal favorite! Everything was seasoned well and left us wanting more. The Rolls: A nice addition to round out a very filling meal. The Dessert: We chose the Texas Peach Cobbler. While the flavor was okay, it wasn't quite my style. I've only had cobbler once before at a BBQ joint, and I prefer a version that resembles a pie--with a distinct crust and crunchy toppings. This one felt a bit mushy for my taste, but if you like a softer cobbler, you might enjoy it! We thoroughly loved the meal and the service was great. Started in 1981, or so it says on the wall. Great rotisserie chicken. You can see the rotisserie from the dining area behind the glass with tons of little chickens rotating around. I got the half chicken, which is about the size of a Cornish game hen, fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy. It was really finger licking good. I love this price and the price wasn't bad. Within a short time they had it ready. The chicken was cooked perfectly-a little messy to eat but expected that. The beans were very good and the coleslaw seemed to have jalapeños in it, had a little bit of a kick which was delicious but hadn't expected it. I had one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I've had in years at this Cowboy Chicken. I stopped by around 8:45 PM (15 minutes before closing), and from the moment I walked in, the manager at the counter made it obvious that he did not want me there. When I greeted him, he replied with a very dismissive, "Well, I'm here." I apologized for coming in close to closing, which he completely ignored. I placed my order, attempted to pay with Apple Pay (thinking it had gone through), and stepped aside to wait--as the only customer in the restaurant. After about eight minutes, he called out across the room, "Miss McCoy, what are we doing here? I don't even have a payment from you," in an extremely rude and condescending tone. Instead of simply letting me know right away that the payment didn't go through, he waited, watched me stand there, and then spoke to me as if I were an inconvenience. I asked for a manager, and he told me he was the manager. That was the most disappointing part--this level of behavior coming from management. I left without completing the order because the disrespect was unnecessary and uncalled for. If the store does not want customers near closing time, then the hours should reflect that. I've been a loyal Cowboy Chicken customer for over two decades, but after this visit, I will not return to this location. I truly hope Cowboy Chicken Corporate sees this, because no customer should be treated this way. read more

I picked up a Togo yesterday, and noticed several parking spots for curbside. There is no way to check in or call, so I went inside. I doubt they ever serve curbside by the way they are set up. They didn't even acknowledge me inside, and surely would not care for anyone outside. There is no designated to-go counter and no one said "we'll be right with you." There were two tables eating and two customers ordering. Two staff members working, and I'm assuming the manager/expo on the line (The guy with the pink lips tattooed on his neck). My food sat on the counter, while I waited for the people in front of me to order. When I got my order, I asked the girl if the ranch was in there, and she says "you better check." Ok great, so I check the entire order. The salad had the ranch, but when I asked for the ranch with the kids meal, you'd think I asked for the crown jewels based on the glare I got from manager lips-neck. I then requested a side of mix cheese for the salad. He said it's going to be a charge. "Ok great how much?" "Fifty-Four cents." "Umm, ok." That took another 3-4 minutes. Then I saw that the salad had 3 red onions on it, and even if I liked onions on my salad, 3 diced onions would be pretty stingy. The 2 cherry tomatoes helped though. I haven't eaten here in a few years, but I did remember that their to-go enchilada packaging technique is really stupid. This time, the box was flipped on its side, and wrapped with plastic. Super ghetto, but whatever. Before I opened it, I could see the sauce was all over the outside of the box. What a bone-head way to pack them. When I got them out of the bag, along with my saucy arm, I saw 2 limp tortillas drowning in a cream sauce. I assume the kids chicken legs came from kid-sized chickens too; so authentic. The roll was so dry on the inside, it kind of looked like tight cobwebs. The grease on the fries was plentiful. No skimping there. I will take this as a $24 learning opportunity. I was a server for two decades, so I've seen my fair share of lousy service--but at least there was effort back then. If lips-neck guy is not the manager, the management better recognize he is a direct reflection of them and President/CEO Sean Kennedy. Cowboy Chickens need to step up their game, and take pride in what they serve. Customers have options, and they'll figure it out eventually--probably the hard way. Food is too pricey to waste on this kind of experience. And don't even get me started on the management's responses to negative reviews. Instead of addressing issues, they slap on a generic, "Sorry you didn't enjoy your visit! Hope you give us another shot!" I had planned to grab some udon next door but due to a point of sale issue stopping them from taking orders I ended stopping at cowboy chicken instead. The interior had a rustic, yet somewhat modern, wooden facade that seemed to invite me in and rotisserie chicken sounded like a good backup plan. I ended up ordering the brisket and chicken plate with the twice baked mashed potatoes and the Mac and cheese for around ~$17 before tip which seemed like a pretty good deal by BBQ standards; However, they don't have bbq in their name so I should have really compared value to a southern style restaurant instead and should have ordered with that in mind as well. The food looked quite good but was a pretty mixed bag overall. The chicken was juicy, the skin was quite crispy, and it was the standout of the plate. It was however under seasoned and lost most of its flavor once you got past the skin. The sides were pretty decent as well though not super flavorful either so neither option really stood out overall. The brisket on the other hand was chopped and greasy. I've been spoiled by years of Austin BBQ but chopped brisket really only works on a sandwiches for me so it wasn't worth the upcharge. My stomach didn't feel great after eating It from the pooling grease for a couple hours afterwards as well. I'd recommend just passing on it completely. It ended up dragging down whatever enjoyment I had from an otherwise pretty good meal. I think Cowboy Chicken should double down on their namesake as that was pretty good. I think in a world where I ordered better this could have been 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. With what I ordered however and after my experience feeling a bit sick afterwards I doubt I'd give it another chance to test that theory. read more

GREAT FOOD IS ONLY GOOD FOOD IF ITS NOT HOT! I have visited this place multiple times and found the food to be quite good. The staff is usually great, but the biggest issue is that the food is not served hot. I ordered through the app, and when I arrived, four staff members were in front of house, socializing. They greeted me quickly and informed me that my food would be out soon. I waited for five minutes and decided to eat at the table inside the restaurant. Fortunately I did because the food was not hot. If I had taken the food to go, it would have been cold by the time I reached home. Instead of multiple managers at the front, at least one should focus on food quality and execution. It would be great if they could take a moment to check the food's temperature with a thermometer to ensure that it is at least 130 degrees Fahrenheit when it comes out of the kitchen. Ideally, it should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit, but it was neither of those. A business that specializes in take-out for families and groups should have better systems in place to ensure that their food is served hot. read more

Busted this location between 5pm and 6pm to order takeout. The service was fast. I ordered Half Chicken along with a couple of sides, Spanish Rice, twice baked potaters and extra pickles . The chicken was a little on the salty side- someone over salted the brine‍. I wasn't a fan of the rice - it was a little to al dente for my liking. Bad start followed by excellent recovery effort by store manager. Food order placed on the Cowboy Chicken app was delivered 20 minutes late. The order was picked-up by driver early and had been sitting in the delivery driver's car for over 40 minutes while he was making other deliveries even though my house is only 5 minutes away. I called the store manager to let them know that I was not going to eat food that had been sitting in a car for over 40 minutes. The store manager said he would remake all the food and personally deliver himself. I appreciate Cowboy Chicken taking accountability for a delivery snafu and making things right! read more

I ordered the enchiladas for my husband and I. They were so spicy we could not eat them. They were swimming in about a gallon of sauce. We tried to dig the chicken out - which there was lots of tender chicken inside. The corn was also burn your mouth spicy. The beans were great. The rice too spicy. I ordered the half white chicken for my mom. It was tender but dry. The rolls were great. The green beans were tough. Peach cobbler wasn't even cooked. It was peaches with cake batter.
