I've driven by this place but never stopped. I was in the mood for some chicken and boy am I glad I stopped. As soon as I entered the door I was greeted, staff seemed happy to be there. You could see the chicken being cooked next to the register. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with beans and coleslaw. They had many drink choices but wasn't thirsty & was taking it home so next time. Within a short time they had it ready. The chicken was cooked perfectly-a little messy to eat but expected that. The beans were very good and the coleslaw seemed to have jalapeños in it, had a little bit of a kick which was delicious but hadn't expected it. I will definitely be stopping by here again.

Finally got back to this location. We have eaten at their Frisco location several times in-between. Came here for free birthday loyalty club dessert. And we got 1/4 chicken with sides. Popular with the takeout crowd on weekday. Good meal and plenty of leftovers. See photo about upcoming 44th anniversary celebration and food specials.

I picked up a Togo yesterday, and noticed several parking spots for curbside. There is no way to check in or call, so I went inside. I doubt they ever serve curbside by the way they are set up. They didn't even acknowledge me inside, and surely would not care for anyone outside. There is no designated to-go counter and no one said "we'll be right with you." There were two tables eating and two customers ordering. Two staff members working, and I'm assuming the manager/expo on the line (The guy with the pink lips tattooed on his neck). My food sat on the counter, while I waited for the people in front of me to order. When I got my order, I asked the girl if the ranch was in there, and she says "you better check." Ok great, so I check the entire order. The salad had the ranch, but when I asked for the ranch with the kids meal, you'd think I asked for the crown jewels based on the glare I got from manager lips-neck. I then requested a side of mix cheese for the salad. He said it's going to be a charge. "Ok great how much?" "Fifty-Four cents." "Umm, ok." That took another 3-4 minutes. Then I saw that the salad had 3 red onions on it, and even if I liked onions on my salad, 3 diced onions would be pretty stingy. The 2 cherry tomatoes helped though. I haven't eaten here in a few years, but I did remember that their to-go enchilada packaging technique is really stupid. This time, the box was flipped on its side, and wrapped with plastic. Super ghetto, but whatever. Before I opened it, I could see the sauce was all over the outside of the box. What a bone-head way to pack them. When I got them out of the bag, along with my saucy arm, I saw 2 limp tortillas drowning in a cream sauce. I assume the kids chicken legs came from kid-sized chickens too; so authentic. The roll was so dry on the inside, it kind of looked like tight cobwebs. The grease on the fries was plentiful. No skimping there. I will take this as a $24 learning opportunity. I was a server for two decades, so I've seen my fair share of lousy service--but at least there was effort back then. If lips-neck guy is not the manager, the management better recognize he is a direct reflection of them and President/CEO Sean Kennedy. Cowboy Chickens need to step up their game, and take pride in what they serve. Customers have options, and they'll figure it out eventually--probably the hard way. Food is too pricey to waste on this kind of experience. And don't even get me started on the management's responses to negative reviews. Instead of addressing issues, they slap on a generic, "Sorry you didn't enjoy your visit! Hope you give us another shot!" It's like they're reading from a script written by someone with zero accountability. Don't even waste your management breath on this review. Thank you!

This was my first visit. The staff was very friendly. The service was very fast. The rotisserie chicken was amazingly flavorful and tender. The roll was soft and delicious. The twice baked potato was delicious. The spinach dish was good. The peach cobbler was good.

I had planned to grab some udon next door but due to a point of sale issue stopping them from taking orders I ended stopping at cowboy chicken instead. The interior had a rustic, yet somewhat modern, wooden facade that seemed to invite me in and rotisserie chicken sounded like a good backup plan. I ended up ordering the brisket and chicken plate with the twice baked mashed potatoes and the Mac and cheese for around ~$17 before tip which seemed like a pretty good deal by BBQ standards; However, they don't have bbq in their name so I should have really compared value to a southern style restaurant instead and should have ordered with that in mind as well. The food looked quite good but was a pretty mixed bag overall. The chicken was juicy, the skin was quite crispy, and it was the standout of the plate. It was however under seasoned and lost most of its flavor once you got past the skin. The sides were pretty decent as well though not super flavorful either so neither option really stood out overall. The brisket on the other hand was chopped and greasy. I've been spoiled by years of Austin BBQ but chopped brisket really only works on a sandwiches for me so it wasn't worth the upcharge. My stomach didn't feel great after eating It from the pooling grease for a couple hours afterwards as well. I'd recommend just passing on it completely. It ended up dragging down whatever enjoyment I had from an otherwise pretty good meal. I think Cowboy Chicken should double down on their namesake as that was pretty good. I think in a world where I ordered better this could have been 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. With what I ordered however and after my experience feeling a bit sick afterwards I doubt I'd give it another chance to test that theory.

At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say about either the food or the service. This was an amazing dining experience, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Tupelo Honey is a stand-alone restaurant conveniently located near Hwy 114 and 161. There's plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and a mixture of tables, booths, and bar seating. Speaking of the bar, it acts as a beautiful backdrop for the entire restaurant. 1 Star. Service - The service is always friendly. Our server is always smiling, and I can't help but feel welcome with southern charm. Tupelo Honey trains its staff well, and I really enjoy coming here and interacting with the staff. 1 Star. Food - I always begin with the Biscuits with a Cause. These light, flakey biscuits are served warm with a crispy exterior and soft, flakey inside. But honestly, the biscuits act as a delivery mechanism for the butter and blue berry jam. I always ask for an extra side of butter and jam because I use it all. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Honey Dusted Fried Chicken (dark). The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, and sweet. And the dark meat was juicy. Pro Tips - use your hands. Another great dish was experienced. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I have yet to have a below average dish at Tupelo Honey. Yes, it's a chain. But it's also a darn good chain that keeps its menu fresh and is worth multiple visits. 1 Star.
