I love Cowboy Chicken and have been eating there (at the old Bachman Lake location) for over 25 years. The food is excellent, but every time we eat at the Irving location when it's cold outside they do not use their heater. Everyone is there eating with jackets and hats on. There's no bigger drag than eating somewhere and freezing while you're trying to eat. read more

I took the wifey out for an early dinner and she saw a Cowboy Chicken last week next to Afrah. The three stars is pretty much for the service. The service is pretty good but the chicken, if you're calling yourself Cowboy Chicken your chicken better be damn good. It was the most under spiced chicken I ever had and so dry I could barely finish it. We shared a half a piece of chicken meal with two sides the french fries are okay the corn was okay but the chicken was so dry we weren't able to finish a half a piece between the two of us. And since when does chicken have a fish taste and smell. The good thing is my expectations are never High going into a franchised place. I don't know what is in the sauce that goes on the enchiladas but it's incredible . If I didn't have a 3 year old that copies everything I do I would lick my plate to get it all off. Forget the chicken I'm telling you that the enchiladas are 5 star! I actually found myself getting sad when I realized I only had a few bites left . Staff is always friendly and service really good here even at lunch when the place is packed . Been here several times and it seems consistent each and every time . My only complaint is that it's not called Cowboy Enchiladas because while the chicken is really good it can't compare to those little rolls of heaven covered in white creamy sauce . Ok update : just when you think it doesn't get any better .. HOLY CRAP! The Beans !!!! They are amazing . Can't believe I never tries them before . I never had a problem with them until they kept forgetting to add my dressing to my salads. I don't enjoy dry salad. (This happened twice) Then, one day I ordered through their delivery service, and they were AN HOUR late. My lunch as over by the time they got here. Then the last time, I bit into a sharp piece of plastic. Yes, my tongue started bleeding, and I complained to Uber, but they did nothing. Outstanding meal. The rotisserie Chicken meals were real moist and delicious. The half chicken I had was a huge half bird and roasted golden brown. Each of the 4 sides were great and huge portions. Never had a softer role anywhere and it was also really good. Couldn't get away without the apple cobbler and it made the meal. Wow. I'm assuming the non-5 star reviews are due to what I've read about service, because for a "fast food/casual fast" restaurant, the food was awesome! We ordered UberEats and for $22, including delivery fee, we got the 1/2 chicken w/twice baked taters, mac and cheese and 2 enchiladas. The chicken was moist and tender. The sides were perfect IMO. It was plenty of food for 2 and very fresh, even after the driver was lost for 10+ min! Very impressed on this 1st try and will be regular customer I'm sure. read more

Had the pleasure of enjoying takeout from this location. Myself and a few friends all ordered our selections on line. Food was ready in 20 minutes. Our orders were accurately filled. I ordered the 3 piece dark meat wood fired rotisserie chicken. Came with 2 sides and a roll. I selected twice baked potato and corn fritters. Large portions. Enough for several meals for only $7.99. The manager said we batter and fry our chicken strips to order, when it's busy it takes us longer. He didn't apologize or offer any other explanation. Sorry if you don't like the word moist. I agree it is a weird word, but in this context I think it is appropriate. If you don't like the word you can replace it with juicy, or something of that ilk. We were stuck in traffic and decided to stop in. This place could easily be 4-5 stars if they hired workers that cared rather than trying to stick to the name Cowboy- and hire males... which just because they are male doesn't make them cowboys- these were boys!! and Mama didn't bother teaching them how to cook, use a microwave or even how to say ma'am! They have a excellent homemade cobbler... microwave but my batter was still runny- which means I was served raw eggs. So I realized this and packed it up to go ASAP. Thankfully I didn't order mine with ice cream like my husband did. He had already eaten his and we didn't even bother asking for a manager out of these kids it was a joke... We won't be back. Decent recipes... if they don't get some help I can't see this place keeping the doors open! All of our food was cold in the center- 1/2 microwaved and when I asked for enchiladas to go they even said do you want us to microwave them first or do you want to do that yourself? Then we had to ask 3x for them! Like they would get colder before we left! It's clear the only thing that's hot in the back is the chicken on the rotisserie - but it reminds me of the RUSH concert I went to years back! Ha! First off let me say I LIKE Cowboy Chicken. I like it a lot. So when I found out one was opening near my job, I was happy! I waited for the opening week hype to die down a little bit before I headed over there for lunch one day. Here is the time line: 6 miniute drive to get to Cowboy Chicken, 11 minute drive in circles around the parking lot to find a parking spot to get in to Cowboy Chicken, 23 minute wait, in line to order Cowboy Chicken. According to the very nice cashier, there would be a 20 minute wait on a to-go order to indulge in Cowboy Chicken. Then there is the 6 minute drive back to my office, HANGRY (hungry/angry) sans Cowboy Chicken. No apologies from anyone at the restaurant. No forwarning from anyone at the restaurant that this was going to be over an hour dining experience. I think I was made even more angry because the chicken smells sooooo good. Of course that could have been intensified due to my body heading in to starvation mode. By the way, I go to lunch at the beginning of the lunch rush (11:30) and I only get an hour for lunch. Take it as a warning to bring snacks for yourself while you are waiting in line, maybe a bottle of water, a chair, reading material, or possibly hire someone from Task Rabbit to stand in line for you. I mean technically I can not really rate the food at this location because I have yet to try it here but right now I am still bitter and scarred from this experience, it may be months before I forgive them enough to try again. I have been here multiples times and the food is ok. I don't know it the restaurant is under new management but the service could be much better. I placed an order online to pick up on my way home when I was 40 minutes out and paid extra for all white meat. When I get there to pickup my order it was not ready and there was a small group of people waiting for pickup orders. After waiting 25 minutes my order was finally ready and I had Cowboy Chicken check to make sure that I had all white meat and they assured me that the order was correct.
