I used to frequent Cowboy Chicken when I lived in the metroplex nearly ten years ago. So as soon as I relocated it was one of my first stops. I'm happy to say that the chicken is just as good as I remember it. It is rotisserie chicken made on an open flame right in the front of the restaurant. Talk about a wow factor. Everyone loves the smell of meat roasting. Yum! I got the three piece dark, which came with two sides and a roll. I opted for macaroni and green beans with a watermelon sweet tea. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. I tried the cowboy chicken hot sauce which was super salty and vinegary. The macaroni was cheesy and not loose. The green beans are fresh and still bright green. They were tasty and had a hint of garlic. The roll was okay but I'm not a big bread connoisseur. The watermelon sweet tea was super sweet so I diluted mine with unsweet tea and it tasted really good. I could definitely taste the watermelon flavor. I'm glad this place is a consistent win. read more

The sides are good, but there's not much good to say about the chicken and unfortunately the restaurant is called, "Cowboy Chicken". I ordered a 3-piece dark meal with baked mac & cheese and fried okra for sides. What chicken was left on the bone was overcooked and dry. Maybe it was just an off day for them looking at the other positive reviews, but we came around 6:45 p.m., so of all things the chicken should have been cooked properly. Food is a def. 3 star at this location. Dry chicken and undercooked twice baked potatoes. When asked why the downfall in quality we got many excuses. Server said they sell too many chickens to be concerned about the potatoes. Manager said the potatoes were def undercooked but since they cooked under the "required temps" it's still fine. This place is usually busy so we order online and then pick up our deliveries and place ourselves to eat there. I usually go for the 3 piece chicken with fired okra as side. I am not a fan of the double baked potato. Nowadays, I skip the side altogether and go for half a chicken ( all dark - as I prefer iron rich leg meat to the dry white breast meat) We have also ordered full rotisserie chicken for dinner. This eatery is located along a service road, but is in a new shopping center with plenty of parking. Upon entering, you'll hear the music playing overhead, and you'll notice the overall location has an open concept, is very modernly built and has two televisions to enjoy some sports. I can't speak for the pricing as I did not see the menu and was there with a group, but the food looked good upon first glance. Speaking of the food, they offer family meals, different types of chicken and various sides to select from. We had green beans, macaroni, fries, mashed potatoes, corn and two types of chicken--grilled and fried. I thought the great beans and macaroni were salty, but chicken was good. Both chicken types had plenty of flavor to them. The place was clean, employees were attentive and alert along with a well stocked utensils area. I will try this place again, but do consider it's food to be average. Plenty of room for a group outing. They also offer an outside patio area. I have been meaning to try out Cowboy Chicken for a while. I have seen them a couple of times but hadn't had the chance to try them out until today. If you like grilled or rotisserie chicken, then this place should be a stop for you. Their chicken is excellent. Everything on the menu, except the sides, have their chicken in it. No matter what you get. The chicken reminds me of Pollo Refugio some but the quality is a lot better and more mainstream. The restaurant is casual dining where you order, they give you a number, you sit down, and they bring the food to you. This location looked small on the outside but was a decent size on the inside. There were a lot of tables and even though the place was fairly busy, there was not a problem finding a seat. Restaurant was clean as well. Service was also very good. Staff were attentive and helpful. Chicken and sides were good and fresh tasting. I didn't see anything that didn't look good on any one's plate. I've only been to the location in Fort Worth, which I love so I was expecting the same at this location, unfortunately I don't just love it. I went at lunch and maybe that wasn't the best time to visit. The parking is horrible but that's not their fault. The restaurant wasn't too crowded I guess because of the rain so I didn't wait long to place my order or to get my food. The staff was very friendly asked if I was familiar with the menu and encouraged me to take my time. I knew I was going to get the quarter white and baked sweet potato so my time was spent deciding on another side. I finally decided on the fried okra. As I stated earlier it didn't take too long to receive my order which was to go. When I got back to my office and opened up my container the aromas were yummy. The chicken cooked to perfection but the sides not to much. My potato required 2 more minutes in the microwave ad the center was still hard and raw. The okra and this is my personal preference so I should have asked for them to be fried extra crispy. I ate all of my chicken and the potato after I finished cooking it in the microwave the okra well that was a lesson learned. Overall I wasn't turned off enough not to come back to this location. I have been going to Cowboy Chicken going back many years. We usually get take out and the chicken at the Irving unit is generally good, but not great. The side vegetables are terrible. The green beans were over cooked and the corn and pinto beans were so salty that they were not edible so we just threw them out. This is happening frequently so we will not go back. You would think the manager or some accountable adult employee would at least taste the food before they serve it. The restrooms are also disgustingly filthy, which make me wonder how clean the kitchen is. read more

I was craving comfort food southern style since you know it has been a little cold here in Texas anyway, when leaving the pumpkin patch I googled a couple restaurants but nothing really caught my attention until we passed by "cowboy chicken" and saw the fire and on the sign it said something about wood fire rotisserie chicken and oh my I had to pull over to check it out. When we first arrived it was a little empty and it was probably about 30 mins before closing so I thought We May not get good service but boy was I wrong. We had the best service, the cashiers and employees were very friendly although they were about to close. We dined in and everything was served to our table in very warm temperature which gave it a very fresh taste. When leaving the cashier gave us a complimentary cookie as my baby kepts asking for one. I think he paid for it himself which I thought was very nice of him. He also packed our food in boxes to go and brought us a bag. Very good! Love their food, but I came in tonight at 8:52 PM (they close at 9) wanting to order something to go, and already all the tables were put up, employees were packing up to leave, and I was told they didn't have any chicken. I know it's annoying to get customers right before you close, and I really do hate showing up late like that, but it was a long work day and I got there as fast as I could. There were two of us dining, they brought my food out first, forgot the salad dressing, said they would come and bring it back. It was my first time here. This restaurant is new. It opened not too long ago, and I stopped by during my lunch break. I walked in and the menu instantly reminded me of Boston Market. They have similar sides to Boston Market as well. I wasn't too pleased with my meal. My chicken was cold, but the sides were warm. The chicken tastes exactly like Boston Market's Oven Roasted Chicken. I was expecting the chicken to taste a little different, because it is "Wood Fire Rotisserie." Definitely try their Mac & Cheese. Tried out this place last night. One thing that always sets my mood in a restaurant/store/etc... are the employees and how friendly or helpful they are and this place was spot on. We were greeted when we walked in and immediately assisted at the counter by a very polite cashier. They also had a man (manager maybe?) who was keeping things running smooth and orderly by directing everything going on. I was impressed by their speed and great attitudes. Now onto the important part- the food! We got the family meal with a whole chicken, 3 sides, and rolls (only $19.99!). The rotisserie chicken is moist and melts in your mouth, but the skin is still crispy; pretty much perfect as far as chicken goes. The sweet potato was cooked to perfection and came with butter & cinnamon sugar. I was not crazy about the tangy tomato & cucumber side, I was just expecting maybe a berry dressing or something on sliced cucumbers & cherry tomatoes but it just consisted of tiny pieces of chopped up cucumber, celery, parsley, tomato, and onions with some sort of dressing- I'm not sure what. More like a cucumber pico really- I won't be getting that again but I'm sure some people love it. I was also not a fan of the veggies which were basically exactly the same as the cucumber side but with red peppers and zucchini. Oh and the rolls were warm and delicious inside but burnt outside *sad face*. Overall I was happy with this place and will definitely eat here again. Why is the food so inconsistent?! Today I ordered via UberEats from the Irving location, and this was the 2-3 time that my salad didn't arrive as ordered! I ordered the Monterrey salad which arrived with no cheese crisps and no chicken cracklings, staple ingredients in the dish! It also looked someone added pico de Gallo?? If the restaurant was missing the key ingredients, I would have preferred that they had simply cancelled my order versus giving me an incomplete meal! Everytime I receive a good meal from the restaurant, I gain confidence, but with every incomplete meal that I receive I question giving them my hard earned dollars ever again! Steady decline as far as customer service, store cleanliness, and food quality. I go to this store once a week since October of last year but after my last two visits I refuse to go to this particular store and chain as a whole as #1 my web order is never ready on time. I placed the most recent one today at 11 am for a 5:10 PM pick up, I arrived at 5:15, still no order, I see people come in and get big orders ahead of me given to them. I finally ask the cashier about my order which he then puts together, I leave at 5:40. Besides that there is constant dirty plates on tables and just sitting near the soda machines that are never removed and in this most recent visit stayed where they were at for the 30 minutes I was in the place. And just in the last couple weeks every male who is at the front desk is ruder than the next. Customer Service is dead at this place. Finally to top it all off the food quality has been so under cooked my wife has had to put things in the oven when I get home to make things more eatable. I know I should of probably stop coming a month ago when I noticed these things but this company has been so good to me that I gave it benefit of the doubt. But no more. read more

The food at cowboy chicken is great so no complaints there. The service at this location however is horrible. I placed an order online and went to register clearly marked for pick up. I stood and waited for 5 minutes staring at the lady at the register and the guy putting out order before I was even acknowledged. Finally the rude gentlemen doing orders decides to tell me the lady at the register could help me. She seems confused and finally rings up my order and then proceeds to help the next customer apparently no one thought to actually give me the food I just paid for. Great little homestyle chicken place. I would equate it to being similar in style to places like Boston Market, but the food is significantly better. The dark meat chicken meal or the mixed white/ dark meal are my favorite options. I always get the twice-baked potato casserole as one side and then switch up the second side. The beans are pretty good, but the mac and cheese is kind of dry, in my opinion. The only issue with this place is that, since it is new, the wait time to order and get a table is pretty long (about 20 minutes), plus an additional wait time for them to bring out your food. As well, the parking in this plaza is a nightmare, so get there early. This is not the place to come if you are looking to get in and out quickly. For dessert, I recommend the peach cobbler.
