Chicken Caesar Salad + Side of Fries
    Thao R.

Cowboy Ciao was near my gate so I thought I'd stop for lunch. The Caesar salad was standard with well seasoned chicken. It was quite expensive for a salad, but I guess that's typical airport prices for you. The service was very friendly and welcoming. I will note that my server forgot my fries, but quickly brought it out when I asked. Very comfortable and had just enough space for travelers with luggage, as expected. I was able to pull my laptop out and even get some work done while eating.

Cold Ham & Swiss sandwich. Better tasting than it looks in this photo!

I didn't eat at the regular restaurant but the self-service Cowboy Ciao kiosk at Terminal 4 because I just needed a quick sandwich and a bottle of water for my flight. The only reason I'm doing this review is because the sandwich was actually really good, and I usually have terrible experiences with grab-and-go sandwiches. Specifically, I picked up the Well-Fed cold ham and Swiss sandwich on wheatberry bread. If you can find this brand elsewhere, I'm sure it would be just as good. I think this kiosk is simply run by HMS Host. Check out was pretty easy and quick.

    Flat Iron Steak - $35.99

When flying out of Sky Harbor, my gate was moved to this area which is where I've noticed most international flights depart/arrive from. My coworker and I decided to stop here as we had an hour before boarding (later delayed to have more time). Historically, I haven't eaten meat for a couple years, but I decided to have a steak as I've been adding slowly in per doctor's dietary recommendations. The menu lists as "Flat Iron Steak." It didn't mentioned being sliced and I genuinely thought would be served as a steak. It was only four slices and due to slicing lost a lot of the juices (likely the meat wasn't rested), and also seemed unevenly cooked. Pretty disappointing for spending $35.99 and it listed as one of their speciality items. Also, it said it was served with roasted red potatoes, when it came with the breakfast potatoes typically served at other restaurants. Overall, a disappointing meal and the tables seemed cramped/too close together to be comfortable while you ate.

    Mac and Cheese

Stopped in on the second leg of my flight because it was close to my gate. It is very loud and they were busy. I think because they serve alcohol. They have a limited menu (sorry forgot to photo) most items start at $13 and go up. I had the Mac and Cheese and it came with bacon and the bacon made it complete. It was filling for me. My server Vicky was very busy but stayed in the game.

I ordered a fried chicken sandwich, but only ate the chicken too avoid the bread. It was really good. Also has an espresso martini. For an airport restaurant/bar, I'm pretty impressed. The bartender was also cool. Overall a good spot to stop when waiting at Terminal B high numbered gates.

Extremely impressed! The Quesadilla is so good! Our server was quick and gave us a recommendation. I wonder if this place has more locations? I would definitely eat here again.

They say avoid airport restaurants, but I disagree, especially here at Cowboy Cíao! The food was amazing, and the service was great! The waitress was very friendly and polite. We were seated at a table, and we took our time to dine. We were not rushed out. Recommended. 5/5

We had pretty long layover at the airport on our way to Puerto Vallarta so we decided to sit down and give this place a try for breakfast. Definitely worth it compared to most airport food. They also have a full bar so if just looking for a place to sit and chill while waiting check them out.

    Ciao burrito
    Mark T.

As far as airport restaurants go, this one was pretty decent. Fast food just steps away was crowded with people waiting for food and this place had dozens on open tables. The service was quick too. I had the ciao burrito (breakfast) with fried potatoes which were pretty decent. There's a window looking out to the jetways so there's decent natural light. It sure beats waiting for fast food with a bunch of frustrated travelers.

    Stetson Chopped Salad
    Nick C.

What a pleasant surprise to find this place in the terminal. The chopped salad is one of my favorites that I usually get at the Gladly, so I was delighted to see it available here in the airport. Here it's called The Stetson Choped. It was as delicious as always with the smoked salmon and a welcome lighter meal compared to most airport options. Service was friendly and fast too to help get in and out when we needed

The service here has a a joke. Some guy sits you down and you wait what seems like an eternity for your order to be taken. Music is playing. People are relaxing but the server is even more relaxed. Ordered the chicken sandwich, must say it is not bad at all. Did have a good crispy skin. Had lemonade and it is watered down. They never check on you. Had to almost tackle the guy to get a refill and he brings tea! Really! Where do they find these people? Since they never check on you it will take a bit for your ticket. The server just stands in the corner looking lost. Suggest you try a different place to eat

Hands down the best salad I've ever had!!! Ate mine and then ordered two more to go. Beautiful presentation!

This is a great place to eat between flights. The service is fast, the staff is friendly and the good is good!

Come Saturday evening, we thought our son would fly in early enough, on his way back from North Carolina, to take him to Lon's restaurant at the resort. Unfortunately, due to delays he was not able to make it to the resort until after ten. By that time, most restaurants are closed for the evening!!! After a quick search, apart from the traditional 24/7s, we spotted the 5 & Diner, and it was close enough to get there within ten minutes! When we drove up, we were mildly surprised, a little retro, a restaurant we are not used to...upon entering the establishment, the staff was prompt, friendly, and we were seated in a nice booth right away. Our server, Danielle A was extremely helpful with the menu items, wonderfully cheerful, prompt on our orders, and could not have been more attentive!!! The food was well prepared, hot, very flavorful, and timely!!! We were extremely surprised and found this restaurant checked all of the boxes...not to mention surprisingly reasonable!!! By the way, the air conditioner was set at a perfect temperature for the triple digits of Phoenix!!! We would go back again!!! Humbly and respectfully, FLK

It arrived with a bun and no lettuce wrap. My husband ordered the Southwest Burger and paid for an extra patty, but received only one. For our three children, I ordered three Short Stacks but received only two. I also ordered two orders of scrambled eggs with turkey sausage but received only one, and I ordered bacon with sunny-side-up eggs but received only the bacon. I alerted the dasher, who returned to the restaurant and called me so I could explain what was missing. Unfortunately, the employee I spoke with was extremely hostile and rude. They insisted that I hadn't ordered the third Short Stack and repeatedly said they only make what's on the ticket. I explained that my screenshot showed the order I placed and that, unfortunately, the ticket apparently didn't contain my entire order. What bothered me most was the attitude. I was treated as though I was asking them to give me something for free, even though I had already paid for these items. I still made a point of expressing my appreciation for the dasher's help despite the way I was being spoken to. The employee responded with a sarcastic "thank you" and hung up on me. The dasher then told me that the restaurant refused to remake or compensate me for the missing and incorrect items, despite the dasher returning to the restaurant and waiting 10 minutes to try to resolve the issue. I didn't even mention the burger bun during the call because the interaction had already become so unpleasant. If the employee was simply having a bad day, I genuinely hope things get better for them. Mistakes happen, and I understand that restaurants can be busy. However, the combination of multiple missing and incorrect items, the refusal to correct or compensate me, and the way my concerns were handled made this an awful experience. Unfortunately, this is a hard pass for me. I wouldn't recommend ordering from here, and I won't be ordering again.

The highlights are the large coffee mugs, the portion sizes, and that they menu items are made with thought, so the only customization made was no butter on the bread. Tried both the protein breakfast and the build your own omelette. The protein breakfast was perfect as at came with cottage cheese and avocado included, and there was salsa verde on the side. I dumped that over the top and let everything absorb. zit was the right amount of food and great flavor. The build you own omelette is a customization in itself, but the fruit cup made it stand out as it was larger and included bananas at the bottom with enough blueberries and strawberries. They do have a ~$2 card fee, but for the cost of breakfast that wasn't enough to drop it a star. The 4.8 Google review is on the nose. We will be back!

Fast forward nine years to 1938, and Fred MacAlpine purchased it, renaming it for his namesake, and operating it as a full-service pharmacy and soda fountain until 1991. It was then purchased by a couple who still own it today and have kept it in as much of its original condition as possible, including the soda fountain, the counter, and the malt machine. When you park and walk to the front of the yellow building, you can't help but feel joy. The storefront windows, the antiques, all of it make you wonder just how far back in time you're going to travel. Once you've stepped foot inside and onto the checkered floor, you can't help but smile at the counter, all of the antiques from decades past, and the wait staff who wears 1950s uniforms. We slid into our wood booth with the tiny jukebox on the wall and immediately got to reviewing the extensive menu. Everything... and I mean EVERYTHING... looked good. Bonus: They have gluten-free bread! My husband chose the cheeseburger and I chose the turkey BLT (on gluten-free bread) - both were delicious! We then opted to share a mint chocolate chip milkshake that was created on the original 1940s machine - something that completed the experience. When we were done, we were fortunate enough to chat with Monica Heizenrader, co-owner of MacAlpine's wth her daughter. She is a very kind woman who is very passionate about keeping the history of this diner alive, even taking to selling antiques (in the other rooms of the building) to help support the upkeep. However, with rising costs and some family challenges, it's getting tough. She was proud to have kept this going as long as she and her family have and even mentioned some of the more notable people that have stepped into the diner over the decades, including Barry Goldwater (a regular), Joan Ganz Cooney (one of the creators of Sesame Street), Frank Lloyd Wright, Aunt Maud, Marshall Good, Wayne Newton (who was discovered by a talent scout there), and more! If you're not able to visit Phoenix and this beautiful place any time soon, consider making a donation to keep it open - the link can be found on their website.

Very nice - but cherry is always my go to. My mom chose Black Cherry which seems like a small distinction but her choice was better. We split the Turkey Bacon Croissant sandwich. I'd say the sandwich was just average, however service was excellent with different people continuously checking on us. The interior here is very dark/cozy and filled with antiques, taking you back to another era. There's a small antique shop you can step through to on the other side if you feel like browsing after you eat. We were too full to enjoy dessert but they have so many great options: shakes, malts, sundaes, homemade pie. I really need to get down here more and their special offerings.
