    Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy

This place was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast I had that was the Denver omlette was delicious. We got seated right away on the patio. My buddy loved his chicken fried steak. I can't wait to go to this place again.

Large portions of good food. I will say lots of reviews talk about the best Chile Verde. Certainly not the case with our visit. While good, IMO it needed more meat, and less red chili flakes & cayenne pepper. Focus more on the green.. Chicken Fried Steak was very good and the eggs were as well. The sourdough toast was good. Probably great on a sammie. Huevos Rancheros w/ chile verde again was ok. But probably shouldn't have added the chile verde. Great service.

A cozy l I ttle restaurant that must have been here for years! Recommended to us as a great place with good food. They weren't wrong! The service was friendly, and the food was plentiful! We each took a doggy bag home to enjoy later. I've been 9nce before and we couldn't get in but they had a patio spot. We declined based on one of our party's needs..I'm sure we'll be back!

Stopped in for a late lunch on Tuesday. Clean and friendly staff. Yummy and large portions. We ordered Catfish platter and Chili Verde Tostada. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Great local gem!

I come here all the time and the food always hits the spot! The portions are big so be prepared to be full afterwards. I love sitting on the patio because I can bring my dog! They have misters so it's not too too hot out there. Staff has always been friendly!

The food was served prompt and very hot--it was delicious, too! The restaurant was clean and the tables were decorated, nicely. The waitress, Nancy was very polite, professional, and attentively prompt with our needs.

Good food and good service. Kinda overpriced for what you get. Since the scamdemic their prices skyrocketed

We shared a Berry Avocado Quinoa Bowl and a Perfectly Grilled Cheese. They even plated them separately for us! (2 plates with half a grilled cheese and French fries on each and 2 bowls with our Berry Avocado quinoa! So sweet and helpful!) Everything was very delicious--fries were seasoned and crispy! The grilled cheese and sweet and salty (they use their spiced pear bread, a delicious four cheese blend and bacon). Quinoa bowl was very hearty! The space was cozy and not too loud--my friend and I were able to catch up without having to raise out voices. Cannot wait to come back to try the rest of their menu!

I ordered one of the side salads but I asked if I could have them add fresh pear to it because of course the name of the place is Perfect Pear Bistro so I was naturally craving pears. The ambience was cute and classy. I sat on the patio because it was gorgeous outside, but I did take a peek inside and it has a low lit upscale rustic vibe. There was plenty left in the salad after I housed my sandwich (elegantly) and I finally had to tap out and get a to-go box. Lovely little stop, would come back.

Cornish Pasty was cozy and unpretentious. My husband loves Guinness on tap and enjoyed his 32 oz tankard with his pasty. I'm allergic to alcohol but I was so happy that they had non-alcoholic Guinness in a can. It was my first time drinking Guinness and I can appreciate its cult following. We ordered the "chips" to start. They were good, but needed salt. But the showstopper was the fresh homemade bread and butter. The bread was so good that I almost ordered another one. We ordered the Guinness Stew Pasty and the Lamb Vindaloo Pasty, based on the server's recommendation. The lamb vindaloo definitely hit better with the beer than the Guinness Stew, but both were delicious. The pasties were comforting like Bosnian food. Not fancy, but filling and satisfying. Our server was an absolute sweetheart. He was attentive and had great recommendations. Despite being busy, he still made it a point to check in with us during our meal. I'll definitely be back for sure

Even though they were busy, our food came out in about 10 minutes. Everything was fresh and delicious--the meat pies were perfectly crispy on the outside and generously filled inside. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to try a variety of meat pies!

Beginners Luck is just that kind of place. Food 4.5/5 - I ordered the Crab and Shrimp Roll with fries. It was excellent and quite a portion. More than enough for a second meal. Loaded with shrimp and crab. I wasn't expecting a crab and shrimp salad but rather a mix of the two warm and buttered in the roll but it was very tasty as served. The only part that was a little off was the burned in brand on the roll the cold salad was served in. The charred flavor with the salad was a little off putting. I just pinched off the burnt bits from the bread. Excellent fries! Service 4/5 - I sat at the bar. Bartender was nice, offered regular menu and restaurant week menu as well. Meal was brought by manager, fries were still piping hot. Bartender and manager checked back to make sure meal was to my liking. Ambiance 5/5 - Cute place. A lot of nice outdoor seating and seating inside but a bit less. All in all a great place with a nice complement of offerings! I will return. If only they had a fly through with rotisserie chicken to go, I would never think of Bandera again.

We were seated inside quickly - it was a slow afternoon. Signs on the door let you know they have A/C however they left the front door propped open so it wasn't that cool inside. We each had a cocktail and they were pretty good - him a Painkiller on Main (he said it was good) and I had Ranch Water Paloma but asked them to mix tequila and mezcal rather than have me choose one over the other. Quite tasty! We just did apps: Fondue Blanc served with linguisa, pretzel bread and roasted cauliflower. The fondue was especially delicious with the cauliflower. We also had pimento cheese served with potato chips and chicharrones. I've only ever tasted grocery store made pimento cheese and was not a fan but when I tasted the pimento cheese at Beginner's Luck, I instantly became enamored. Totally enjoyed it with the chips. I recommend stopping in for a bite when wandering Old Town.
