Cowboy Coffee was on my list for my visit to Jackson Hole for their legendary cowboy croissant breakfast sandwich. I love breakfast sandwiches and I get excited about a good croissant! The place is pretty small and was a bit busy when we were there so i would recommend getting your food to go. We managed to jam our group of three into a corner. The walls are decorated with lots of really cool local art. If I lived here I'd definitely check that out for a nice piece for my home! The cowboy croissant comes with two fried eggs, bacon or sausage, cheese, red peppers, and aioli. It's a big sandwich and definitely fills you up. It could easily be split between two people if you're not that hungry. The croissant was wonderfully flaky and soft, just the way a croissant should be. The sausage was flavorful and the right portion, and the eggs were perfectly cooked and not dry at all. I did add some hot sauce which made it all taste even better. This sandwich lived up to the hype and I was really happy. I also ordered a divinity chai which was sweet and creamy, and came in a really cool mug. Overall the experience was great. Would recommend getting there before 9 or after 11 to avoid a long line. We ordered the veggie burrito, cowboy croissant, huckleberry latte, and iced matcha. A customer today cut through the whole line we were all waiting patiently and respectfully for our coffees.....Instead of asking the customer who cut everyone else to wait in line like everybody else, the staff served him first, took and filled his order in the area where everyone picks up! It is incredibly poor customer service to allow people to cut in the very long line and get their drinks first, I am not coming back to this coffee shop. Expensive, not that great, and the order was wrong. They had the biscuits and burritos ready to go and wrapped in foil, and my burrito still didn't have everything in it that was on the menu. COVID precautions are pretty great with hand sanitizer available and their use of plexiglass. The only thing I'd suggest is social distancing signs and markers (maybe on the ground) because there definitely wasn't a lot of that going on when we stopped by on a super busy Friday morning. There was literally a line out the door! This spot is popular. And for good reason - they have a great menu of both drinks and food. The Snickers latte I got was great! No complaints. But honestly what made this a 5 star experience for me was actually the breakfast sandwich I got: the Skinny Pig! I am a sucker for pesto and this was a really good pesto breakfast sandwich. Good coffee right in downtown, which means it is extremely busy. Long line and crowded inside, but there is some seating in and outdoors. Ordered a hot americano, which was very flavorful and a veggie breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was an 11/10! Really tasty with pesto and an avocado aioli. Unfortunately my partner and I did not enjoy cowboy coffee. We gave it multiple tries (3 separate times) and remained disappointed. I will say I was very pleased to see multiple GF options, and most of the employees were extremely friendly. The ambiance in the shop is cozy and warm- perfect for JH, and we did not run into any issues with the place being busy or chaotic. That being said, those positives weren't enough to weigh us over. The egg sandwiches were gross- the egg is a microwaveable egg and the entire thing was so bland. Im not normally picky with this (ill eat starbucks sandwiches any day), but these were flavorless and rubbery. The coffee didn't do it for us either- one of them I couldn't even drink. Again, not normally picky with this but it was extremely weak and did not have a good flavor. The gluten free pastries (not made in house so technically not their fault) were all dry including the muffins, cinnamon roll and cookies. Even the orange juice tasted like the cheap fake stuff from a gallon jug. Turns out it was- as we walked in there one evening and saw them filling the cups from the store bought jug. To top it off, one of the employees argued with us when we received a non gluten free sandwich after asking specifically for one. Just overall disappointed :( We really wanted to love this place but just couldn't. read more

PLEASE READ Was in the mood for a small breakfast and coffee during my time in Jackson WY. Stopped by Cowboy Coffee Co because they had good reviews and seemed like a well put together place. I ordered a coffee and a cinnamon roll. Staff was super busy and seemed irritated. Not exactly the friendliest. Coffee was okay, not exactly something I would get again. Glad I was cautious and paying attention to my cinnamon roll though or else I would have had an expensive trip to the ER. I saw something shiny reflect off of my chunk of cinnamon roll on my fork. Took a look and pulled out two of what seemed to be metal bristles from a cleaning brush. Cinnamon roll was stale anyway. Definitely not going back. read more

Stopped by very shortly 2 days while visiting Jackson hole. My boyfriend got the divinity chai which was really good and I bought a bag of their coffee. I was going to get a mug also but they were pretty pricey. Since we were there only a few days and got up too early to stop for breakfast we ended up going a little late in the day and the second time they had a problem with the espresso machine so I didn't get anything. They have all the standard things so whatever you're looking for, they probably have it. The review said they got "best coffee 10 years in a row," and I thought they are either the only game in town, or they are actually good. The coffee was definitely good. It's very rustic and western inside (of course, with a name like "Cowboy Coffee"). The service was okay--we were there with little kids, they're distracted by everything, and when you're trying to order it's annoying waiting for them to answer and decide, etc. and we could tell the person taking the order was annoyed. I don't blame her, the line was growing, but still- I'm a customer spending money here, too. I will say the order counter does not have the greatest setup as the pastries and menu aren't really visible until you're at the register, and they're still not set up great. I went to the drive-thru location and after I placed my order, was asked if I would like to leave a 15% or 18% tip. I responded, "no thank you" (it's a drive-thru, how is a tip justified?) Today, I checked my credit card and they added the 18% tip to my purchase anyway! There was an extra few dollars from the original charge notification on my credit card, which equated to exactly 18% of the purchase amount. Stopped by here on the way up to the Tetons. It was very popular and quite busy but the staff tried to get everyone's orders completed quickly and accurately. Aside from delicious coffee, they have pastries and even have some merchandise items from the shop. There were areas to sit down, but due to it being busy, you are probably better off just taking your coffee to go. read more

They were super busy busy still pretty quick. They have all the normal precautions for COVID no worries. Since they were so busy they didn't have time to add the wild animal art on top which was one of the main reasons I wanted to go here. So he made an exception and added a bison to ONE of our drinks to make me happy. The service was amazing and they went a little Exeter's to put a smile on a strangers face. Our experience at Cowboy Coffee was truly mixed. I give a little bit of a pass because C-19 throws things off a little bit but the underlining theme here is that communication on their behalf could be a lot better. For example, I ordered the skinny pig and while my wife and daughter got their sandwiches immediately, I literally waited over 20 minutes. This would have been a huge issues if we were in a hurry but we did have plans and wanted to just grab and go without just waiting around. I will say of the sandwiches, mine, by far, was the best. It was also made on regular bread since they ran out of the brioche. This part was communicated to me. Along those lines, a number of items were gone by the time we got there and we didn't get there that late. It would be nice for them to notify customers ahead of time of what's available to move things along faster but to also help people make better choices. We also both have coffees. I had an iced latte, which was good but nothing super memorable. My wife got one with huckleberry and oatmilk since she can't have dairy. Upon drinking some of it she starting thinking it was regular milk. We went back inside to ask them about it and the person told us she wasn't made aware it was supposed to be oatmilk yet they charged us for it. Again, this is a BIG deal for people with dairy intolerance. I did enjoy this place and the location and it was a great way to start off our trip in Jackson. Since giving a 1 star I really wanted to detail explain the situation! wanted this to be a 5 star but unfortunately events as of late... 1 star and lower if I could. Background... I was a VERY loyal customer. Went to cowboy every single day for months. MONTHS. Hell, with just my business alone it probably paid a month of rent LOL! Situation: I have a bad food sensitivity to bananas... I would always order an Island Time Smoothie... instead of banana I would ask if they would replace that with strawberries. They did, they honored that. For months they did it. I would go every single day for lunch. And was so stoked that they did that for me. Then one day they randomly stopped. Quite rude about it.. Said they couldn't do smoothies special anymore. "It was just too much work" So fine, I went to the town location... same thing happened there... So I talked with one of the employees in private to get the run down on the real reason why.. employee: "They don't care about building rapport with customers, they would dread anytime you came in because it would take extra time to switch fruits...." LAZY. "They also didn't like you at all because you didn't tip every-time..." Mind you I went every single day for MONTHS... sorry I didn't tip every time. Shits expensive. Also, it's a drive threw. However, I do tip 20% to every restaurant I will ever go to. The employee went on to say how shitty of a company it was and how they get annoyed anytime there is a request to change an order... and SO MUCH more that I'm not going to repeat. Basically all negative very negative things. I felt so singled out (I was) and call me sensitive... but my feelings were hurt for weeks. I was always so kind and thankful to them. If you're still reading, thanks for listening. This town is small. I love to support local and be loyal to local restaurants. I have great relationships with my other local restaurants I often frequent and I'm thankful for that. Do better, Cowboy. Local customers should be priority. Word spreads fast. read more

Cute place for some coffee a bite and chill. Inside it is a bit small but very cozy and they offer free wifi. I am not a huge coffee person but wanted to try something from the menu. I got a latte with huckleberry flavor which also comes with a shot of espresso. I also asked if I could get an animal on my latte and got the cute moose. Again not being a coffee buff I did not taste any of the added flavoring and would have liked some more flavor all I could taste was the shot of espresso which was a bit strong for me. read more

Great place to stop in the town square quick for some local brew! They open at 6 am which is earlier than others in the area so props to them for us early birds that need coffee and want to hit the road to explore ahead of the rest of the crowd. Wanted to love this place so much based on the reviews and the burrito and food was delicious. Great for a quick breakfast before a day on the slopes. However, my 3 stars are because of the nasty woman who took my order. I work in hospitality and I know good customer service when I experience it and also know how easy it is to serve someone with a smile and good attitude. I am also sympathetic to the current understaffed situation during the pandemic. My issue was this... I bit into a pre made burrito and I had a bite of cold sausage. I took the burrito back to kindly let her know if she could warm it up or something and her response was a very cold and rude "it JUST came out of a hot box" as if I was making up that my burrito was cold. The barista was very kind to take it back to the kitchen for me to warm it up when she realized the exchange between the cashier and I. The space is cozy. The staff aren't friendly. The blonde cashier was definitely being fake nice. Sorry I forgot to mention that I'd like oat milk for my chai after I placed my order. I didn't need an attitude. The breakfast biscuit wasn't great. Wasn't fresh. Biscuit tasted stale, but I dare not take it back in to deal with the sass I'd probably get from the girl at the counter. Some things aren't worth confrontation. The hot chai I ordered was nice, but when I picked it up the barista was giving me a side eye. Maybe thats just how his face is, but hey. Maybe not.
