Delish! Looked for a nice place for breakfast before hitting the mountains again. Seemed like a great local place. We called in and ordered pick up. Food was ready in 15 minutes. They were allowing indoor dining with tables spread out but we still took it to go. I ordered the veggie omelette with hash browns and my partner had the 2 egg special with sausage and hash browns. We will come to Genoa every year. Twice we have been by the Cowboy Cafe and it was closed. Today we were able to get in! The waitress asked for our drinks and I had Hot Water, my husband cold water. Then they brought the menus. The food was great and lots of it. However, when we asked for the check we discover they charged me $2 for hot water. I asked the waitress about it and she said it is on the menu that way. I told her we ordered drinks before getting the menu. The person in charge said they would not remove the charge. We will not go back again. We felt that it was an unjust charge since no one told us about it and the drinks were ordered before we got menus to seethe charge. The decor is so homey to me. The owners are amazing. The eggs Benedict to die for. Everyone is so nice and attentive. The place is always busy. Michelle and Jeremiah are the best people! Staff was super friendly and service was quick! A hole in the wall diner with farm and ranch theme and great coffee. Had the hubby take the day off so we could have a free day! So many years we have driven by, but never stopped. Wish we had, but glad we did today. In the area for an estate sale, so it was perfect timing. Friendly service and staff! Excellent refills on coffee! Hubby got the breakfast burrito, I stayed with the regular bacon and eggs. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, especially when I'm eating out at a cafe like this. I loved the look of it. It had an old style feel to it. It looked like an old saloon would kinda but with a modern touch. There were big guns all over the wall (working guns).. I felt safe in there hahah. Like if someone came in to rob the place they would see the wall and run the other way haha. So it's breakfast, there's not much new that's gonna reinvent that wheel. It's Eggs, bacon, pancakes, biscuits/gravy, waffles etc. But the menu was surpringly big for a place like this. I saw stuffed french toast and that was my top pick. They didn't have any strawberries.. random but ok.. So I got blueberries. The french toast was stuffed, but a little sad tbh. I mean don't get me wrong, I got stuffed, which is kinda the point but they just spread cream cheese and threw whole blueberries in there without really making it into a "filling". It was pretty good, and technically stuffed so can't complain too much lol The staff was really friendly! They all had big smiles and seemed so genuine with the way they interacted with customers. Loved that energy. And pricing is really cheap. That's kinda the theme with Nevada. My meal was like $8. I'm giving it a 4. This unassuming place had the best breakfast I have had in a very long time. Real home fries and the hash browns were good too. Had the veggie omelet with feta. Hubby had sausage omelet with Swiss. Only complaint was not a lot of sausage. And only one slice of toast which could be a problem if ordering sunny side up eggs. Server was Wonderful!!! Price was $23 and change. And we had leftovers. Sometimes having a grill down is a hidden blessing! Went there today and there grill was out. They were only offering oatmeal, waffles and biscuits and gravy! Some of us had waffles and some had the biscuits and gravy! Both were amazing! We were even impressed with their coffee and how fresh it was! The service was perfect. Paula was a sweetheart! We went to breakfast here while passing through the town. Its in a small business shopping area, right on the end, closest to the street. Its decor is really cute it appears ckean and staff seem friendly. We were greeted upon entry abd given a booth. Its a place locals frequent and the food is good. We ordered our meal a v engine omlet and shared it along with 1 biscuit and gravy. The meal came with home potatoes and choice of bread or a english muffin thats what we got. The coffee was pretty good and it was more than enough. We paid for our meal and were full. The only thing I would suggest to check on your customers about coffee refills. I know our waitress was kind of evolved in visiting with local patrons but that will be my only down comment. They do have it marked off for distancing. So, truth is this place is a great hole in the wall for breakfast. I've eaten here on at least 6 different occasions before writing this review. I'll have to say this... the food - breakfast is wonderful. From biscuits and gravy to pancakes to chicken fried steak and eggs... Cowboy's Cafe does not disappoint. The restaurant has a "cowboy"/gun theme to it, with memorabilia decorating the walls, seems quaint. The reason for just 3 stars is simply ambience and frankly service. You never quite know what you're gonna get when you come to Cowboy's Cafe. Sometimes the servers are friendly and with certain locals/regulars and they'll chat up a storm. Somedays the servers can be cool and you have to flag them down if you want a coffee or drink refill or hell even a menu so you can place an order. And on other days, you'll come in and witness shouting matches between servers and other staff with a server literally threatening to quit, shouting expletives across the restaurant (yes the restaurant was packed and yes there were children dining). The food is great, no complaints at all there... but there are times when the service is less than friendly, when you feel bad asking for a refill or a to-go box (like you're burdening them), and it just seems like the staff just ain't happy. You don't exactly enjoy your breakfast when you're witnessing a shouting match between staff members, talk about cringe! We do our best to tip well enough to hopefully put a smile on their face, but I'm not sure it always works. read more

My guests ordered the waffles rated highly on Yelp and my plate was a heap of heavenly goodness. Homemade sausage gravy on biscuits with scrambled eggs and home fries. We tried this restaurant based on the 4 out of 5 star rating, and now I am trying my best to understand how in the world they were ever able to get 4 stars. First off the cowboy theme is really cool with lots of nostalgia, the service was good, and the restrooms were clean, but this is the best things I can say about this restaurant. We waited for a seat for about 15 mins, which falsely led you to believe this place must have excellent food. We waited another hour for our food. My husband and I ordered an egg scramble with ham, cheese, spinach, tomato and onion (asked for eggs to be soft scrambled) and biscuits and gravy. When our food finally arrived, the potatoes were burnt and had a metallic taste and the eggs were brown/burnt (definitely NOT soft). The only thing that was truly good, was the biscuits and gravy. We just started coming back here for breakfast and the ambience and service has definitely improved after removing a certain waitress! The food is still good. Our first visit back The Linguica was delicious, and Waffle great! Second trip French Toast was decent, but it turns out that Im not a fan of their Huevos Rancheros. The sauce that is over the top drenching it tastes like canned enchilada sauce that they tried to make into a Ranchero sauce by tossing in raw red onion, tomatoes and olives, the tortillas were greasy and chewy.....with the over bearing amount of sauce it was just a big gloopy mess. Nothing about it tasted fresh sadly, and it's usually one of my favorite dishes for breakfast elsewhere.... We will definitely eat here again, the service is excellent and friendly, food comes out quick.....I will just not order the Huevos Rancheros ‍ read more

Ambiance cute I called ahead on a Sunday morning for to go. I Ordered 2 cowboy Benedicts. Ready upon arrival. They were good BUT, please do not put paper between the food and styrofoam box. Nothing like pulling wet paper outta your mouth! It came with a minimal amount of hash browns. I think if i gathered them in a measuring cup they would've equaled maybe half a cup. WOW! I was visiting from LA and staying in Gardnersville, and the host and 2 other persons in town that all don't know each other independently recommended the Cowboy's Cafe. Now the first thing that you need to know is that you DO NOT need to be a Cowboy to eat here...but it helps. At the counter, I sat down next to Cowboys who were their regulars and being my NY/LA friendly self, I tried to put on my best Western rodeo attitude and started off with, "Howdy!" to the Cowboy next to me on both visits. Well...their response was to look up, "Hello" me back, and quickly return their face to the paper they were reading. I don't know how to take that? I did get another guy to divert later in the meal to talk about the SF Giants since he was wearing a Giants Baseball Hat, so there was some sign of life. But it kind of was like, "pulling teeth." Anyway..the food: The Buckwheat Blueberry Pancakes are the BEST! Very hard to find this combo on a menu anywhere. They have it here. Get it! Next day, I returned for an Egg White Veggie Breakfast Burrito--Excellent. I saw many folks getting the Burrito both days. Sides of fresh fruit and egg whites were excellent too. Service is lightening fast, food came out fast both days. The only thing that had me scratching my head each day was the price structure: It was $15 each visit with Tax ad Tip which puts pricing on line with most breakfast places on or near the beach on So Cal. But is it just as expensive to operate in Minden as the beach? Didn't seem so, but maybe it is? Or maybe food costs are high all over? Seemed 25% more than what should really be charged? And built in that price are up-charges for egg whites both days. For example. A $10.00 burrito that comes with eggs goes Ch-Ching when you say the magic words "egg whites" and ends up being $12.00. Parking is easy in their parking lot. This is a very small restaurant--come here alone or with not more than a party of 4. Folks walking in with 6 or 7 had to wait a long time until they were able to come up with a way to get everyone together--it's just not set up for that or large groups. If you are in the Minden or Carson City area, don't let your stay go by without a visit here if you like great food. read more
