I'm providing an update to my previous five star experience at Coyne's. Make no mistake, Coyne's is still our go to favorite spot, but I have to share a recent experience which they handled beautifully. We recently celebrated our three teenagers' birthday there with about eight people in our party. I'll just summarize by saying that a medium rare burger came out well done, as it has in the past on a couple of occasions, a biscuits and gravy order came out rockhard and warm, not hot. My order, the Piri piri chicken eggs Benedict, which did not come out correct but they fixed it and here's what I want to share. The server took our order and explained that there was no rice for my request for the Poké bowl. That was extremely odd to me since rice is a staple in many parts of the world and you could simply go down the street to a local grocery store and pick up a bag of rice and cook it in 20 minutes. Not sure what's happening there but that was a shocker for me. I figured maybe the seafood was bad or something. But we ordered our food. It came out and we got what we got as I explained. However, the person with the overcooked burger decided not to exchange it but instead proceeded to enjoy their meal, so that was not a major issue, but the restaurant offered to make it right. That's a great thing. The biscuits and gravy issue was fixed with an extra portion of piping hot gravy, which satisfied that member of our party. I cut into my "poached eggs" and they were hard boiled. I wasn't going to say anything, but I decided to accept the offer by the server to provide new poached eggs. The eggs came out perfect. I simply slid the overcooked eggs to the side onto another plate and the new poached eggs, with hollandaise sauce, came out with it and it was all an amazing meal. I highly recommend the piri piri chicken eggs Benedict. The chicken was delicious and moist, The potatoes that I had while waiting for the eggs were delicious, and with the new poached eggs, my breakfast was fantastic. Now, why do I say all this? It seems like technically I should've given this two stars and maybe for some that's the correct action. But for me, having had a restaurant, how they chose to fix this was superb. People need to understand that every business has problems, every single business today, It's how you handle those problems that determines the outcome. I wish the food would've come out perfect the first time, but it didn't. Somebody there in leadership taught those servers and staff to do whatever they can to fix it, that is five star service. My previous rating was a five star service But this time I was forced to subtract one because of the numerous misses and the rice. Overall, it's still our go to place. I highly recommend coins and know that there will be mistakes in the future, but that I am assured that they'll be remedied. Went to have some dinner and drinks at the bar. Unfortunately, we were unable to be waited on by the bartender we had built a rapport with in the bar area?? Weird as we had been served by bartenders many times before. Dinner was fine and service was serviceable, however it changed our evenings ambiance to an awkwardness. Next time we will wait for the actual bar I guess, its just frustrating with there being so few seats. read more

I forget the name of the sandwich I got (steak sandwich of some sort) but it was so good! Husband got the steak with mushroom risotto and loved it, he ate every bite. Our kiddo loved his food too, we will definitely be back. Service was great and attentive. Another five star experience. This time it was takeout so just five star on the food. Just my steak wrong by the looks but when I bit into it, the steak was very juicy and tender. Could've been seasoned a tad bit more but I understand Tobias you could always add salt, but you can't really take it away. The risotto was amazing. Very flavorful. Added Parmesan this time and I think that did it. The only letdown was the asparagus . The asparagus didn't taste necessarily bad, but I imagine that they just steamed it in some water and typically asparagus should be cooked with a little bit of butter and maybe a little bit of salt just for that nice savory Unami taste . I had a pick up order arranged for a certain time and it was right on time and it was hot . Either way I really enjoy this place and so far it has been a hit every time. Went here for brunch and it was pretty good. I got the breakfast pot pie and steak and eggs, while my husband got the sopes divorciados and the gingersnap pancakes. The pot pie was initially good, but got too savory after a few bites. I guess this is their creative take on biscuits and gravy. I wished there were chunks of chicken in the gravy similarly to how there would typically be sausage chunks in regular biscuits and gravy. The steak was really good, and potatoes were good too. My husband really liked the sopes, although I didn't t try it. We both ate the gingersnap pancakes which is probably the highlight of our brunch. They're not fluffy type of pancakes (which was okay with us), but it was packed with flavor. Didn't even need syrup! The pancakes themselves had more than enough sweetness on their own. Overall, good experience. Service was good and the place looks great and had a nice vibe. We'll definitely come back and try other things on their brunch menu, and also try it for dinner. read more

Very good happy hour! Their signature cocktails are also very good. I'd recommend the guacamole! Comes with very thick potato chips/fries. Service was pretty good. When our waiter wasn't available there were other servers to help out. Definitely make reservations. We didn't, but went early enough to still get a table, but we're given a time limit so the table would be available for a later reservation. We only ordered off the happy hour menu. Disappointed- we come often for happy hour and always have a great experience. My wife and I visited recently for dinner. We shared a poke appetizer, wedge salad and mole short ribs. We just got our appetizer and were enjoying it for about two minutes when all of our food came out. We sent it back - we arrived at about 6:05 and received our food by 6:25. We asked that we enjoy our appetizer and then get a fresh salad and entree. It was obvious that they both sat in the window as the lettuce was wilted and inedible and the meat was scorching hot. We barely touched either and our server acted as everything was fine. What a waste. We have been several times and have never had an experience like this. Probably won't be back. read more

Our server was super friendly and attentive. We were immediately seated and taken care of Our food : NY strip steak : full of fat. Barely any eatable meat. Waste of 45 dollars Pasta Ragu: meat was good. Pasta was undercooked and stuck together We were comped a free dessert which was nice ( I told them about the steak) but a 10 dollar dessert doesn't make up for a 45 dollar entree This is the third time we have gone back for dinner and service was great but food was subpar. Service was AWFUL!!! Sat at our table for almost 25 minutes (we did manage to get glasses of water so I'll give the restaurant the 1 charity star). Our waitress was a bitter person. We had another waiter come by our table to see if we were ready to order but the initial battle ax waitress we had told him to go serve another table. I hope the manager reaches out to me for a full review. We walked out (after waiting 25 minutes) without ever getting any service (or even acknowledgement) from the wait staff. Had my drink made for me, voodoo doll and it was tasty, however we waiting almost 30 minutes to order from while sitting at the bar. We ordered guacamole to start off as an appetizer and it did not arrive for at least 15 minutes. While sitting down a couple that came in 40 minutes after us received their food before us. Really disappointed in this experience as I have been to this restaurant multiple times before and have never been treated this way before. Celebrated the Anniversary at one of our favorite places on Saint Patrick's Day. It was really hard for me not to get my regular Butlers Steak Risotto. That dish is so freaking good! The way they marriage the flavors of the dish makes me want to celebrate my anniversary once a week. Our waitress informed us that there was one special left. So if we wanted it we need to let her know asap. I took the bait and went with the special which was their take on corned beef and cabbage. I mean, it was Saint Patrick's Day and all. It was a bold decision that paid off. The portion was so large that I parlayed my leftovers into some bomb hash the next morning. We love Coynes and have never had a bad experience in all of the times that we've dined there. If you've never been I highly recommend it. My neighbor Kathy has told me about Coyne's several times. Her description of these lady get-togethers for lunch or happy hour wine/book club discussions sounded "to die for". So Coyne's was on my radar but it had to be just the right time to celebrate, Sunday was that day. My mom's home closed and we met with our realtor to celebrate the momentous occasion. I made reservations about a week before for 5 at 5 p.m. this past Sunday. We arrived about fifteen minutes early and were promptly greeted and given the option to either wait or be seated. We decided to be seated and wait for our guest to arrive. We were introduced to Sierra and quickly bonded with our group especially letting us know that we had about fifteen minutes left to attack the happy hour drink menu. I ordered a Curious George for my brother and I ordered a Mexcal You Later. The Curious George is a rambunctious cocktail with Coyne's private-label vodka, Bardenay Banana liqueur, Domaine de Canton, and lemon served on the rocks. When my brother took his first swallow, he indeed made a mischievous Curious George face. All that was missing was the man in the yellow hat. My Mexcal You Later is a Smokey! Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, pineapple, lime, cinnamon-vanilla kiss on the rim served straight up. It reminded me of my first kiss with my now Latina wife. fiery, passionate, and full of spirit. It's a kiss that I have yet to forget. We ordered Guacamole with lightly fried salt potato scoops as well as Butter Leaf Wedge, a bowl of Chicken Gumbo, and two orders of Flautus Poblano. All of them were flavorful and plated with care. My brother ordered the Prime Short Rib Colorado and my mom ordered the Fig & Duxelles Burger while I ordered Spasta Pesto. My brother raved about his chile braised prime short rib He swapped out extra vegetables in lieu of the rosemary mashed potatoes and devoured every morsel. My mom had her first forey with American Wagyu beef and enjoyed the unique marble and taste with the pairing of mushroom duxelles, and bacon fig jam. My Spasta Pesto was EPIC. Mixed fresh vegetables sauteed in pistachio pesto were perched above an island nest of roasted spaghetti squash surrounded by a sea of fresh tomato sauce. One of the best restaurant vegan dishes I have ever had the pleasure of eating. After a couple of old fashions and Mezcal You Laters, it was time for dessert. Churro Waffle cannot be missed. It is a tempura Belgium chocolate chip waffle tossed in cinnamon sugar, and regally topped with vanilla ice cream, caramel, and chocolate. Lavishly regal to describe the Churro Waffle is an understatement. The Creme Brulee looks amazing and while it was perfectly executed it was the most disappointing plate of the night. The fresh berries were over-the-top tart and sour but the vanilla bean custard is not far from being Paris-acceptable. Our Coyne's experience was amazing. It was bittersweet, laugh-out-loud fun, and truly was a dinner to remember. I want to thank Sierra, the kitchen team, and the management staff at Coyne's for making our visit one for the record books. So we had brunch here for Father's Day, our first dining experience. We had Andrew (I think) as a waiter and it seems like it was his first day....EVER! He asked if it was our first time dining there and when we said yes, that was it, no tips or anything! I was torn on what to get and he offered no insight. It also took at least 45 mins before we got our food, which may have been due to the crowd but not certain since this was our first time. If it was just myself and my husband this wouldn't have been a big deal but we had our 2 kids with us. Also a kids menu would've been a huge plus, mainly for our youngest. Our waiter was not very attentive, which seemed on par with lack of experience. I had the berry pancakes, which were good but there was very little cream cheese icing and came with only a small amount of syrup. My husband had the French toast which was a nice portion. Giving a 4-star rating as our dinner was exceptional!!! However, our Waiter, who is listed as 'Server C' on our bill, never provided his name, was extremely rude and discourteous. He also listed Guest Count as 2 on our bill, when there was 3, wondering if he did this so when a bad review comes back, it would not be tracked back to him. Any questions we asked about the menu, were answered in a very curt and discourteous manner. We have always had exceptional service at Coyne's so this was surprising to get someone who was so unprofessional and had poor customer service skills. Had the Mole Braised Short rib. Two pieces of meat with one piece basically all fat. Presentation was a 10 but overall enjoyment of the dish was a 6 out of 10. Mash potatoes were luke warm bordering on cold and the meat was just ok. I would not get this dish again. Beautiful restaurant though. Maybe just having trouble finding good cooks on this day and age. The staff was amazing but I sat at the bar and for some reason one of the bartenders who was off shift was sitting at the bar drinking which I don't understand. read more

Waiting 55 minutes to receive our meal is simply unacceptable. Our party arrived after the lunch rush, yet service was extremely slow. After our waitress brought our water, it took another 20 minutes before she returned to take our order. I had planned to order lunch, but ultimately decided that this level of service didn't deserve our support. What makes this even more disappointing is that Coyne's wasn't particularly busy. This has always been one of our favorite restaurants in the Treasure Valley, which makes the experience even more disheartening. When I brought up the issue with Amber, the manager, I was further disappointed by her lack of apology or concern. We had 7pm reservations for 7 of us. Ambiance was busy as they were finishing up the dinner rush. We had quick & pleasant service, as our cocktails made it to our table within 10 minutes. Highly recommend the Simply Vanilla Margarita. The rolls also appeared quickly. They were warm and soft on the inside, but the outside was a little hard. Also, not everyone likes sweetened butter. 3 of us ordered the special 'Shrimp Pappardelle', 1 order of the special 'Shrimp, Scallop Gnocchi', 1 order of Rib Eye and 1 'French Onion' Hamburger. Only 2 of our group finished their food. The shrimp pappardelle was very dry and we ordered more sauce, but it came out 15 minutes later and was very runny. The Rib Eye had 0 seasoning and for some reason it was topped off with tartar sauce. The Gnocchi and Hamburger were good. Food was okay for brunch. Service wasn't great. Sure, it's father's day but there was other tables that got their food faster than us. Waited over an hour for our food to get to us. Steak and eggs, pancakes, French toast. Our server came around 1 time after order was put in to refill drinks. Didn't see her after that till our order is on the way and to tell us that kitchen is backed up because they were busy. But, other tables got their food quicker. No manager came around. Tried the Coconut Curry Mussels and the Beer Battered Fish Tacos. My husband tried the Mole Braised Short Ribs. Everything was tasty. The mussels were cooked perfectly as they were not rubbery and very flavorful. My Tacos were a little too spicy for my taste but, then again, I'm a wimp when it comes to spices. Drinks were well balanced. Our waiter, Michael, was very nice. Place was beautiful and the prices were very fair. We will definitely return to try out more. read more

Wife and I have dined at Coyne's three times now. She loves the Curry Chicken salad it's her go-to meal. I've had the Butlers Steak and Eggs twice. The first time it was amazing, but the second time my steak was way over cooked, I asked for medium but it was extra well done. I don't like to send food back so I ate it but was disappointed. The service is always great including at the bar top. I think if I order a steak again, I'll ask for medium-rare since I can't get that first steak out of my head. read more

Ambiance, service, and food were really good. This was our first visit and went with a group of friends. The drink menu and wine list are solid, most of the table had rose which paired well with their food. I had an old fashioned which was made perfectly (not everyone knows how to make a good one!) The complimentary bread and butter is really good, nice size rolls with a flavored butter (rosemary and garlic?). We ordered the guacamole for an app, not bad but a bit odd with the potato like crisps, didn't hate it, won't order again. Entrees prevented a rating of 5. I ordered the halibut and got about 4oz on about a pound of risotto (which was great). Just too small of a portion to charge $43. Another friend had the wagyu ribeye and had to send back due to it being over cooked (asked for mid rare, got medium so order down to be safe!) This place is incredible. Love coming here for brunch (I swear by the Bourbon Caramel French toast) and they have a killer happy hour. Everyone always provides stellar service and it's noticeable how well everyone works together. If you're looking for a relaxing nighttime ambiance definitely check out their beautiful patio setup. Truly one of the best spots in Eagle. As far as the drinks go, I've always been impressed not only with the creativity but the freshness of flavors. Will be back! read more

The flautas come with a large serving of poblano crema that tastes amazing in everything (even the sweet potato fries), it should come standard with everything. We sat outside, the area is large and screened in, overhead heaters and a large fireplace keep it very warm. Music was a little loud, but ok. We came here last Sunday for brunch and had a great experience. We made reservations which I would highly recommend because last weekend this place was packed on Sunday afternoon. We were sat outside on their very spacious patio and loved the outdoor vibe of the area. The food was absolutely fantastic and everyone loved what they decided on. My breakfast chimichanga was absolutely delicious! Stuffed full scrambled eggs, spicy black beans, chorizo, pepperjack cheese and hash browns rolled in a flour tortilla, flash-fried and finished with sour cream, green onions and pickled jalapenos - sauced with salsa verde. This spin of a typical dinner item was absolutely fantastic. Plus what made this all that more special was the 5 star service and we all left knowing we will be back for sure. read more

Upscale dining, great food, good variety of menu options. I started with a cocktail (can't remember the name), whiskey, cinnamon, vanilla, couple other things. I appreciate that the menu specified how it would be served, big rock, served up, etc. I thought my cocktail being served up would be more whiskey forward but the whiskey was drowned out by the other flavors. It was alright, looked great, but nothing spectacular. Lots of good food options on the menu across the board from sandwiches and hamburgers, to steak and Peruvian chicken. I ended up going with the mushroom risotto, it came with a flat iron steak and grilled asparagus. Flat iron steak was the best part, very tender and flavorful. The risotto was prepared well but just a bit salty. We also got a chicken gumbo as an appetizer which was delicious. Peanut butter in the sauce is entrigueing but great combination. Chicken was tender and the sauce was like a thick gravy. Also got an old Rasputin beer, they have it on nitro, great beer option. We were sat outside around 7:30 pm, it was still quite hot out and the flies were pretty active around our table. Some tables had fly spinning things to keep the flies away but we did not.
