Amazing!!!!!! Must stop if you are in the area! We were vacationing and this place is a new favorite. I had the garden bagel with bacon delish! My husband had the sticky bun and stuffed croissant !!! They were delish too. The baked all their own goods. Roast beans as well! I had already had my coffee for the morning, if I hadn't I would be getting a cafe latte! Smelled wonderful! Cute decor, wonderful outdoor eating areas that are shaded. Also they had some locals roasting chilies and selling homemade spices...picked up a bag of green chili spice...you could smell the chili's in the air! Kids had fresh mango and strawberry smoothies, they were delish as well. Yum yum yum! :) Everything here is fabulous. From breakfast to lunch to dinner...it is allll soooo delicious! The breakfast sandwiches are some of the best I've ever had. The fruit, granola, and yogurt are FANTASTIC!!! :) The assortment of hot and cold drinks is phenomenal! The chili is top notch! The panini's are excellent!!! The apple balsamic dressing is very scrumptious! :) The food is top notch but the service is even better! :) They have a drive thru window, inside, heated patio, and outside seating! Really delicious coffee and pastry. In the Fall they had a pumpkin pie latte, not pumpkin spice, it was so good it tasted like you were drinking an actual pumpkin pie. Their morning pastries are good also, they are like a croissant with creme cheese and fruit puree inside served warm. I rarely stop here as it's on my way to work and the line is typically either long or slow in the drive thru. I have gone inside also and it takes a significant amount of time so unless I am super early, I end up driving by. read more

A unique little coffee shop out in the middle of nowhere. Actually they have a breakfast and sandwich menu but the caffeine is the draw. A country feel with a screened in room adjacent to the shop with lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the vineyards and mountain scenery. Man oh man... We visited on a Saturday and smelled the hickory burning from the smokers, but little did I expect our burritos to have crispy smoked bacon. What an excellent pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend ordering the burrito dry so it's not to take away from the sauteed onions, seasoned potato hash, and smoked bacon flavor. I rarely visit a place twice during our weekend getaways but this was a must following day. Stopped here on our way back from climbing Shelf Road, famished. Weren't sure what to expect, but ordered the French dip and Pete's panini. Our socks were absolutely BLASTED OFF. The sandwiches were straight up bonkers, coffee fresh as hell. Thought it didn't come with the French dip, I tried the horseradish sauce on my sisters Sammy and HAD to ask for some on the side because it was so good. I typically don't even like potato salad, but theirs was absolutely dank. Rearrange my face and call me Mrs. Potato Salad. It also came with the crunchiest, dilliest pickle spear and chips, all for under $17. In this economy?! Sign me up Jack! I ordered the Breakfast Platter and my husband had the Overstuffed Burrito. My platter was good, but the norm, eggs, bacon, etc. My husband said that his burrito was great, he just wished the green chile sauce had a little more kick to it. Stopped here on my drive from Westcliffe to Denver and was pleasantly surprised. This small shop has a lot of outdoor seating and only some indoor seating, so better come here on a nice weather day. The shop itself is decorated somewhat like a small cottage and has a very nice, quaint feel to it, and the staff were all very lovely and helpful! I ordered the Pete's Panini with potato salad, and it was pretty darn good. My only complaint is that the horseradish kind of overpowered everything else in the panini, but it was still a good meal. I also got a green tea smoothie, and at first, it tasted a little strange (I'm too used to Starbucks green tea lattes I think) but after a couple of sips, it grew on me. If I ever have another long drive through Penrose, I'll definitely be stopping by here again! read more

If you are heading to Canon City, do yourself a favor and stop at Coyote's Coffee Den. This coffee shop is not your typical coffee place. They make everything fresh including the delicious pastries and desserts. The sandwiches were delicious and generous. I had the steak salad which was huge and the apple vinaigrette dressing was amazing. We asked for more. I purchased their orange marmalade and strawberry rhubarb jams and they didn't even make it home with us as we used them in the hotel room everyday. Great outdoor seating area. Super friendly staff who appear to really like their jobs. We went back one more time for lunch. read more

This is definitely a place worth going off route to try. We were heading back home going through Cañon City towards Pueblo and found this nice little place on Yelp! We decided to go off route to give it a try. The green chile smothered breakfast burrito and the fact that it wasn't too far from US-50 E convinced my husband to give it a try. Glad we did! They have indoor and outdoor seating and for all of us dog lovers.. dogs are allowed at the outdoor seating!! They also have a drive through for those who don't want to spend time off their travels to sit down and eat. Great little place to stop and enjoy the food! Our bellies were grumblin' as we barreled down the highway towards The Royal Gorge in Canon City. This place is on the highway, and it's not a dive! A lady & her daughters run this place and they make great food! I got the Chicken Salad (chicken, walnuts, apples, and mayo on a sweet croissant) and my bf got the turkey-club melt (YUM, his was super good... but mine was better ;P). It came with chips, a pickle, a coffee drink (I got iced coffee which was amazing! He got iced mocha, which was yum too), and I bought a mini-loaf of banana bread (OMG, it smelt so good the passengers on the plane ride back were asking me about it! lol!!)... we got all that for less than $20!! Amazing! I wish I could say I'll be back, but who knows when I'll be in Colorado again :(. What a great lunch! read more

What's fantastic little spot. Stopped on our way towards Pueblo from the springs late morning. Surprised by some live music, guitar and outdoor tables under a porch like roof and spread about a lovely garden. We had breakfast burrito, nice sized "half order" of biscuits and gravy topped with pieces of bacon, ham/cheese stuffed croissant and a mimosa. All was yummy. The ambiance was top notch. After some white water rafting, we had worked up an appetite and wanted to try a local spot. I will venture to say that we found a local gem. From the outside, this looks like your mom and pop eatery with some outdoor seating, along with some gardens to provide fresh grown fruits and vegetables (it is also dog friendly). I believe there are only 2 or 3 tables inside so the majority of the seating is outside. Since we moved from the humid south, sitting outside in the shade on an August afternoon seemed quite comfortable. The staff was very friendly and our order of sandwiches and burritos came out quickly. I don't think there were many leftovers so a testament to how great everything tasted. Next time I swing by I hope to try some of the caffeinated beverages, as well as baked goods. read more

This is my favorite little coffee shop! I found this with a friend while traveling to Canon City and every time I'm heading that way I like stopping in. I've tried some their different coffee and espresso drinks, breakfast sandwiches and espresso beans and all have been delicious. The service is good and the employees are friendly. The drive thru is a great option, but I wanted to go inside to check it out since it was my first time visiting. Very nice with lots of indoor/outdoor seating. Lots of drink and food options. My fiancé and I stopped here on our way to a nearby campsite. We were coming from a different campsite in Salida and the drive was really hot and long. Originally we were gonna order to go bc we had our dog but when he went to order for us he found out they allow dogs in their shaded patio which was awesome bc we were tired from sitting in a hot car and our friends we were meeting to camp with were about an hour away. Although the menu is simple it's very delicious. I had the California Croissant and the croissant was flaky and the other ingredients in the sandwich were fresh. We also had the watermelon margarita and seriously one of the best margaritas I've had. It had watermelon chunks and I'm a lover for fruit in my cocktails. I can't think of a reason that you'd ever be in Penrose, Colorado, but if you are you MUST make Coyote's Coffee Den a stop on your journey. Don't get me wrong, Penrose is lovely and the people are great, just a bit remote. However, the beverages, sandwiches, and baked goods at Coyote's are second to none. And they have a very quaint gift shop that is well worth visiting. Absolutely love this place and wish I could find something close to me like it but maybe that's part of its charm. read more
