Oh my, go on by!!!! Clearly this place never expects you to come back. Everything is cheap. Cheapest fries, cheapest napkins, and especially the cheapest fish. Swai is the cheapest farm raised catfish from south east Asia. There is no reason to go to the jersey shore and eat that. It's $2.99 at Shoprite. Nice people but most of the staff are kids who do not wear masks during this COVID-19 pandemic. Shrimp tasted fresh but I think the FISH in the fish tacos is SWAI, which is not local and not good for you. If it is swai, that is a catfish from Asia. It's also cheap. Great spot located within walking distance from the beach. You can walk off the beach, grab a bite to eat and head back to your spot on the beach. The owner Crabby Rick was there the day I stopped in. He and all his staff were friendly and efficient when it came to taking orders. I went with a blackened fish sandwich which is one of their most popular meals. Even the bread was awesome. The presentation was great as well. You eat on picnic benches. There is a sign which says the benches are made from wood which was destroyer during hurricane Sandy. It is byob so bring your own and party on. If alcohol isn't your thing there is a variety of iced teas to choose from. The best part is there is a parking lot. No driving around in circles hoping someone leaves and you can sneak in their spot. Whether you are passing by or spending the day at the beach you have to stop in. read more

So my sister in law rented a house a diagonally across the street from this place. We were invited to stay and came down Friday the 4th. The house was huge and just a 150 yards or so from the beach. We decided to go here Saturday night based on word of mouth and reviews. If you have ever seen Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, this place would qualify as a dive. You walk up to a counter, order, then sit at 1 of the few picnic tables available. There is also a counter with stools to sit at. We ordered and got our food brought to us in a very timely manner. All the employees were friendly and courteous. The menu claimed the blackened fish sandwich was voted best sandwich in NJ, so my wife, daughter, and myself all ordered it. My niece had the fish tacos. I must say the sandwich is very tasty, and the portion of fish is quite large. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't understand blackened usually means spicy, so she could barely eat it as she is very sensitive to spice. So she ate one of my nieces fish tacos which she said was excellent. Even though the spice was more then I usually have on a sandwich, I ate mine and hers I liked it so much. The fish is very moist, the bun perfectly balanced for the weight of the fish. You actually have to fold the filet up to fit it under the bun. Some greens, tomato, and tartar sauce top it off. The string fries are great too. My wife had onion rings, she loved them. Sorry I keep forgetting to take photos. The price is very good, 61 bucks, 4 meals, for excellent seafood and sodas. The menu looked very appetizing, we'll be back if my sister in law buys a house down here like she said she might do. LOVE THIS PLACE! The caribbean music and key west vibe are so much fun! We couldn't wait for the pre season to start and they didn't disappoint. The crab balls and delicious "dude" sauce were yummy. we could put that sauce on everything. Clam strips and popcorn shrimp are fresh and the cajun seasoned fries are nice and crispy. The ambiance of this little shack was adorable and the services was good. We had chicken tenders, lobster Mac and cheese, fried clams and fish and chips. The chicken tenders were good and my daughter said the lobster Mac was okay. The fried clams tasted frozen and deep fried to me and the fish in the fish and chips was extremely greasy. The fries that it came with were good. During these COVID times i would have expected folks to be wearing masks while cooking and there not to be folks allowed to sit at the little bar without masks being they are close to where food was being cooked. OMG!!! No joke the BEST burgers we have ever tasted - thick cut, fresh, on a soft flavorful shiny topped bun( potato?egg wash?) Shoestring fries to die for - hot and lightly seasoned. Perfect! Now- for the coolest part- they were closing but stayed open to make burgers for my daughter and her friend. They were so friendly, down to earth, , funny,generous and I felt like we were locals/frequent customers. We'll be back tomorrow for the blackened fish sandwich and the girls want the lobster Mac and cheese. Maybe back again on Thursday for the fish or shrimp tacos or soft shell crabs? I love lobster/crab shacks and was eager to try this one. I went with my mom and we got a lobster roll, the rock shrimp, and lobster Mac and cheese. The lobster roll was the best of the three, by far. The lobster was lightly dressed in mayo, served on a bun that was toasted and nestled on mixed greens. It came with fries which were ok- nothing spectacular. The lobster Mac and cheese was very bland and sorely lacking for lobster. There were two decent sized chunks in the whole dish. The rock shrimp were freshly fried, however they were also bland- there did not seem to be seasoning in the breeding mixture. I would come again for the lobster roll and to try some of the other items on the menu (the tacos looked delicious!) read more

Loved this place, and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it! I went here with about 14 people while we were on vacation in Lavallette. I tried there appetizer of fried clam strips and they were delicious. As a main course I ordered the fish and chips which was very filling and good. I also tried the lobster roll which was amazing! The fries are very good and they come with most of the dishes. There is a big variety of fresh teas, and the lemonade is outstanding. The service was good and came out fast even though we had fourteen people. It's all outdoor seating so I suggest coming here on a nice day. I would love to come back here. read more

We were driving back from the beach and saw this place open on a cold late May day during the Pandemic, and thankfully my wife made me pull over. The owner was super nice as was his crew. We were the only ones there and decided on the fish and chips. Rick saw we were cold so he sparked up 2 cups of his spicey crab soup. See here's the deal. OMG!! Soup was phenomenal - get the big size, you'll love it. The fish was excellent, fresh, lightly battered and has some special Mississippi seasoning. And abundant portion. We knowingly suffered beach traffic to get to this fun "divey" Caribbean like restaurant. I can describe it to be a restaurant/ shack with the vibe of a food truck and the flare of a Caribbean road side pop up. The tunes were appropriately Calypso and reggae. There is a small parking lot that was packed but I managed to squeeze my minivan into a tight spot. We brought a carload of kids and met some friends. The kids loved the potato machine that makes their own french fries. My friend had a delicious well appointed lobster roll. I enjoyed the fish and chips that were huge and a bit greasy but I guess that's par for the course. Loved the malt vinegar. My husband loved is blackened fish sandwich which was recommend to him my the college age kid who took care of us. He commented that it was very salty but that accompanied his BYOB beer nicely. We also had onion rings that have a nice dipping sauce. They were light and fluffy and delicious. There were several people ordering take out who were likely going back to the beach. This is a flip-flop, coverups over bathing suits atmosphere with picnic tables and benches. The food is simple and delicious. If you love local fresh simple reasonably priced seafood then this is the place! Kind of reminds me of an old fashion New England style seafood shack. Crabby Ricks has a great vibe with outdoor seating with picnic tables - I had the blackened fish sandwich- which was vey fresh Locally sourced and ultra flavorful buttery and flakey. My husband had the crabcake sandwich which was a very large crab cake they make it there even though the crabs are from Maryland he makes the mix . That also was delicious. The owner goes out of his way to make certain that everything is cooked to perfection - also makes his own hot sauce and a few other interesting condiments- The crab soup was similar to a Manhattan chowder except with crab and Chorizo- definitely a fan favorite. The owner was extremely personable and you could tell he took great pride in what he served. He has many different ice teas that he brews fresh some of them are herbal with unlimited refills-I had the blueberry which was great I couldn't stop drinking it. All that at a very reasonable price. Personally I cannot understand why this place was not packed but I'm glad that it wasn't and I don't want to say too much more or I may never get back in because there is limited seating. All I can tell you is go try it for yourself - We will definitely be returning here. Just spare your self the time money and possible nausea (mom ate the full belly clams & roasted corn(that came out stone cold & she was NOT well afterwards.)
