I have to be honest, this place is hands down the most disgusting seafood I've ever had at any beach, both west and east coast. The crab cake sandwich was fried which was not clearly stated on the menu (normal crab cake sandwiches aren't fried). So that was weird, then when we tasted it, it tasted like a deep fried tuna fish sandwich. It was so vile. So we kindly went up to the hostess and explained we didn't know that it was fried and wanted to order a different entree and they were rude. I told them I'd pay for a new meal and they looked at me like I had 3 heads. There is no way someone hasn't also complained about the tuna-like sandwich they serve as a crab cake before. Anyway, I tried the blackened fish sandwich, also disgusting. Finally, the shrimp tacos I paid for to replace the crab cake sandwich were gross. We each took a bite out of the 3 items we ordered and had to leave. Keep in mind we were on the beach all day from 10-4 and didnt eat so we were starving. You would think if youre that hungry then even mediocre food would be good. Save you're money go somewhere else, not only is the food bad but they're nasty and rude. read more

Found this little local gem yesterday. The crab cake sandwich is the best one I ever had. Nice thick patty with yummy tartar. Yummy seasoned fries come with all sandwiches. My Mom loved her fish and chips. My sister loved her shrimp tacos. Perfect portions at a very reasonable price. Can't wait to go back! read more

So I went this past weekend to Crabby Rick's Shore Shack and it was so good. I had the crab cake sandwich Even with of the COVID-19 guidelines, I had a great time. We placed our order at the outside window, and the wait wasn't very long at all. We felt safe outside while we waited for our food. The restaurant was clean and the new system was very organized. This is my new favorite place to get lunch in the area. Hopping on your bike and taking the short ride up to Normandy for some spicy crab soup. The crab cake sandwich is on another level. So is the lobster Mac and cheese. The fries are seasoned with old bay and I highly recommend dunking them in some tartar sauce. They have a nice selection of iced teas and lemonade. The staff is friendly and you can't beat the price. Outside dining on picnic tables, and you also can sit at bar and watch food being cooked. Had crab cake sandwiches because that's what I had hankering for. Very large & crispy on the outside. Lots of crab filling (believe it or not, almost too much crab). Tasty french fries included. Free drink refills - nice selection of lemonade and unsweetened iced teas. Also, a byob! Been coming here 3 years in a row, multiple time each year. Teenage kids and I love the food. Healthy fish tacos and blackened fish sandwich are the go to order, side of crab balls and onion rings if we splurge. Great ice tea/lemonade drink special. Stopped by Crabby Rick's Shore Shack last Friday, beautiful day! They had just reopened for the new 2013 season. You can't beat the their location, so close to the beach. A nice idea would be to order take-out, and walk two blocks to the beach and enjoy your meal with an ocean view! We had the grilled fish sandwich. The perfectly grilled fish along with the secret sauce, field greens and fresh bun, really made a tasty, healthy and filling meal. Well worth the price. Also to be noted, Richard the owner has added several tables and bar seating since last year (6 picnic tables total, plus bar seating). As well, the staff was eager to make sure you are happy with the service and meal. Worth a visit! read more

Nothing to complain about, it was definitely worth it. The food was cheap, but super excellent, and the food only took 30 minutes. I had the fish and chips, and even if you don't like fish you should get them because they where really good and tasty. They where perfectly cooked and nothing could beat the fish and chips. What can I say ... This is why one eats at the Shore . Forget all these other places with their traditional belly buster overly deep fried greasy food. The food here is fresh ! The staff are a joy !! Most of all ... the fare is absolutely delicious !!! We stumbled upon Crabby Ricks by chance. Well, after walking out of 4 highly rated ( why we don't know ) with all that we saw was over priced & extremely greasy. Crabby Ricks is fresh & reasonably priced & the portions are healthy, not overwhelming. We had the Crab Cake Sandwich ... Just incredible . And the Blackened Fish Sandwich. Well balanced in spices. Found out afterwards it was voted Best Sandwich on the Beach. We can see, rather taste why. Just so tasty good. So , what can I say ... Only this ... Do Not pass this place up. This is what Shore food should be. Fresh, tasty, non greasy. We highly recommend this a most stop while visiting the Jersey Shore. Open everyday from Noon to eightish. read more

My "lobster roll" was made with imitation lobster. The crab cake was mostly a glob of deviled crab rolled in breadcrumbs and fried a few moments too long. I so much wanted to like this place--really cute exterior, great location, etc. But the food was just flat-out awful. And not sure why they thought that they could pass off Sea-Legs as lobster. I was so excited to try this place, but that was over quick. I ordered their fried lobster on a stick thinking it sounded interesting. It wasn't good at all. For 13.95 you got three little pieces of lobster that were way over fried. The lobster roll wasn't bad but the portion you got for 16.95 was a joke. Stay away from the crab mac and cheese as it is insanely dry and unpalatable. The only really good thing was their crab cake sandwich. I must add that the people working there were very friendly and upbeat but that doesn't make up for the flavor and prices. I am so happy to have Crabby Ricks here in Normandy Beach. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is really fun. One of my favorite lobster rolls and the crab soup is a must have. The steak burgers are great and they have a huge variety of chilled teas, very refreshing. I first met Rick when I found him at the beach releasing a jumbo lobster. He said it looked him in the eyes and he just couldn't bring himself to cooking his new crustacean friend. Give them a try, you'll enjoy your stop. read more

I have been there three times and have only been able to eat once! The weekend before Memorial Day, the place was slammed! Richard (the owner) alerted us and said they were not taking orders for the next hour, but we could wait until they got "out of the woods". Sadly, we left. The next weekend (MDW) we went early and had DELICIOUS crab balls, overfried soft shell crab sandwiches, and mealy corn on the cob. The crab balls were so good, I was not discouraged and went back another time to get the spicey crab soup; they were out of it. I switched my order to the chowder, but when they told me it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a cup of soup to go, I left. This place is not easy to deal with! I am trying to give them business, but ... The food is quite expensive for sure, but based on those crab balls, I will give it another try... if only they would take my order! read more
