Don't let the outside fool you. This seafood dive is really much more than it appears. The food is good with generous portions and hard shell crabs year round. On our recent trip I ordered just 4 medium crabs and they gave me 5, then the customers next to me offered me the last 2 from the dozen they ordered and couldn't finish! 7 crabs for the price of 4 isn't half bad!! They also have homemade cakes, good steamed shrimp and I heard no complaints from any of our 11 person party. It may have taken 30 minutes to get a table for 11 but the time flew having fun in the arcade. They have a good variety of stand up video games from the 80's and many pinball machines. We ordered an appetizer and our meals. The the waitress delivered our appetizer pretty quickly, which was great. Only thing was she gave dirty plates with stuck on food on them. I politely asked a young waitress for replacements. She looked annoyed as I explained why we needed new plates. She comes back with another set of plates, drops them aggressively on top of the dirty ones instead of taking them. Those to were also dirty with stuck on food you could literally scrape off. I got up and wnt to a different woman at a counter and asked for more plates. I stood there at least five minutes waiting for someone to come back to give me new plates. As a paying customer I should not have had to get up to go ask for plates. Third set of were better. Silverware I had to use hand sanitizer to clean them from food spots. We finished our appetizer plates and neatly stacked them for the waitress to take away in most establishments they do. It never happened. They serve water in a pitcher which is fine, but give you flimsy plastic disposable cups to drink out of. If you order a a soft drink you get a actual cup. We ate our meals which were good. When it was time for us to check out we waited sometime for someone to acknowledge us. There stood our waitress along with others chatting it up not paying attention or at all checking on us. I had to wave her down to come get the check. I asked her for a couple of boxes to bring home our leftovers, and she drops them on the table. No bag to put our boxes in either. The last time I was here, I was probably in middle school....I'm now 58, so that was a long time ago! We didn't eat, but it smelled wonderful. We took our grandsons to the game room so they could play some old school games. Pretty much everything was in working order. Lots of pinball machines....they really liked hearing all the sounds! They really enjoyed the car games. The weekends are busy, but I wanted the kids to do something different. There really aren't many places to take the kids these days. I have been to Crabtowne USA several times. Enough times to know that i really enjoy their food and their hospitality. Their crabs are usually full and heavy and of course they have the all you can eat crab option with steamed shrimp and corn. One of the best things about this place is that it has a HUGE arcade in the back full of several old arcade games such as PacMan, Galaga, Pinball, Mario Bros and much more. I don't how many people end up at this restaurant like I did while trying to visit Crabtowneusa, Pennsylvania. It is my buddy's hometown and about 3 hours from here. Long story short I missed his wedding, the salad was great and reasonably priced. The waiter was polite and friendly. I have mixed reviews about Crabtowne. First let's get to the good: 1. The flavor of the crabs is very good. Doesn't need butter or anything extra. 2. Despite the chaos of the Saturday afternoon rush, our waitress was very pleasant. 3. Tried the seafood nachos and they were excellent. I usually don't like the cheesewiz type cheese but it works with the dish. The shrimp was flavorful and they used quality crab meat. 4. They have all the old school video games in a pretty big arcade. Everything from Galaga, PacMan to Mortal combat. Those wanting this vintage experience should come just for that. Now to the things that could use improvement: 1. They could use more staff or hire staff that has experience managing a large crowd on a Saturday afternoon. There was so much confusion about what party was to be seated next and where to place people based on the size of the party. Also, several times during our visit waiters came to our table with food we did not order. We also had to ask several time for basic items like silverware and water. 2. They ran out of crabs, which apparently happens often. When the weather heats up expect only small males or medium females later in the afternoon. Get there early for best selection. 3. We were in a large party and asked for buckets to put the crab scraps, they bought a huge painters bucket. Maybe I'm used to the table tops sizes but it was a little awkward. Not a huge deal but something that I noticed. Overall I would try this place again, if only to try the crabs when I get some large or jumbo sizes and to check out the vintage video games. read more

This is my first time visiting crabtowne. Service was good, nice and friendly service. I came for the all you can eat crabs. The deal is great, comes with shrimp, corn on the cob,or hush puppies. All the sides where cooked to perfection. There was a new cook today and to be kind he needs time to perfect his technique cooking crabs. Each batch came to the table nice and hot, problem was 75% of the crabs were over cooked. Over steamed balls of mush!! We went to eat here on a Monday night, shows they're open until 11 pm. The sign hanging on the door confirms that but says in small print "Kitchen closes one hour prior". If you want great service definitely don't come here! First, it takes a WHILE for our server to come. We order 4 waters, only get 3. Another table was sat next to us and got drinks and apps before we got all of our drinks. Our order comes out wrong 3 times(no exaggeration). A food runner comes with a random plate and spills all over our table and on my dad. No apologies at all by the way. I finally ask for my water because our server is nowhere to be found and apparently all the other waiters who are actually working say we have to wait for our waiter. When he finally came around with our lemons, I was running low on my coke so I asked him for a refill and he literally said "why didn't you ask me when I was just here?" Really? Start off with the pros! The wait staff was super friendly and fast. Our server had a great memory & made good judgment calls for when to refill beers/replace things that ran out. We love the vintage arcade games every time - can't get enough! The food was superb! Great quality seafood for a reasonable price. Our order arrived at our table super fast! Drink selection was creative and exciting, draft beer variety was perfect. Floor manager was friendly and actively helpful. The cons - unfortunately the hostess did a poor job coordinating the floor and lacked greeting at the door. There was no active waitlist on a busy night, she played guessing games. Almost sat our family in front of another party that had been waiting before us. The poor servers had to be rearranging tables to accommodate guests and serve up menus. When the floor manager steps in for the hostess, it's a bit of a problem. They need a top notch host on busy nights. Otherwise, it's harder to turn over tables. The live music is an honest, nice addition drawing a good crowd with talented musicians; unfortunately, the volume was considerably loud for an "acoustic" set (coming from a gal in her 20's). The Thursday night band literally had an electric plugged in. The atmosphere for live music may not be suitable for children either, cursing from the crowd and testy music lyrics are not entirely family friendly IF it's something you are conscious of. Things to note - parking can be a little wonky at times, don't be afraid to park in the grass and save room for other guests! Additionally it's a little warm in the summer time, so wear something lightweight so you will be comfortable in the dining room! We will definitely be back at Crabtowne, it's been one of Maryland's gems. A few things we hope to see improved over time, but we will happily recommend to friends for a fun night out. read more

Depends on what you get. My crab legs were cold when they came out. But they took them back and brought out hot ones which were okay, nothing impressive. My clams definitely still had sand in them. My moms rockfish tenders were fishy which I get it they're fish, but they're usually not fishy. The crab dip pretzel bowl was huge but the pretzel bowl just looked like a regular bread bowl, and the "crab dip" tasted like cream of crab soup mixed with cream cheese, so not bad, but now how it should be. The place is cute, pincnic bench style seats and tables, and in the back there are arcade games which is cool. Probably will looke for better places next time I visit. read more

Went here last night (1/12/19) with hubby for date night and I was pleasantly surprised! I've driven by Crabtowne dozens of times but honestly had no idea what to expect. My main reason for my 5 star rating is the service. Our waitress, Michelle, was absolutely incredible. She was friendly, professional and cared about my dietary restrictions. She came by often to make sure everything was great and was really on top of everything! The food was also delicious! I had the oyster Rockefeller to start and they were absolutely delicious! Oysters were huge and not over cooked! My husband had the calamari which was also great! We noticed that they do not overly salt their dishes but honestly, our dishes might have a been a bit under seasoned. It's cool though, I was still very happy and there was salt and pepper at our table. Better to be under salted then over salter right? My main dish was the scallops and shrimp in garlic butter sauce with a Cesar salad and steamed broccoli. The scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly! You could cut through the scallops with a fork like butter. The sauce was also good, could have been a little richer but again I think that has to do with the lack of salt lol. The Cesar salad was one of my favorite parts of this meal. The dressing is made in house and I'll tell you, this certainly did not lack seasoning it was incredible!!! Probably the best Cesar dressing I've ever had. I joked with my husband that the next time we come there I'll just order a bucket of the dressing lol. After dinner we got come change and went into the arcade and played pinball and old school mortal kombat for almost 2 hours! This was my first time coming here. First let me start with the parking... eh, not the best. Not a deterrent for me though as I had been craving crabs for quite some time. Now the atmosphere. Pretty much a no frills type of place. If you're a prude you won't like it here. Now I must say it was hot as the devils briefs in there. My Pepsi was watered down within a few minutes. Once again no real biggie for me. Now to what matters, the crabs. They were great!!! I see people saying they ran out. Last night when we went they only had certain sizes. My advice would be to call ahead and not complain on yelp. It's summer, crabs run out due to high demand.. Also the staff members seemed very friendly. Arcade is really top of the line with an insane amount of cabinets and games. They definitely had a few dozen machines and pinball games, all really popular ones too! Baltimore IS Crab Town, you would expect great crab cakes and a wicked steamer. Crabtowne killed it. My guest and I found this place, not for the food, rather was interested in the arcade, but we'll come back for the food. My guest ordered the steamer sampler with king crab, 1/2 lb of shrimp, assorted shell fish, cole slaw and onion rings. I got the seafood sampler with crab cake, fried shrimps and rock fish. We were both over the moon with the food! The service was friendly, the place was clean, and there was a couple of guys playing some indie rock. Then the arcade! So here is my story: As usual Yelp is hit or miss and useless!! Drove to BWI to drop off a friend and around 11:00 said I'm going to have me some blue crabs and beer!! So yelp gave me a high rating and got me here since it was 5.7 miles from BWI!! The lady bartender was awesome and friendly, asked for steamers, she had no idea what it was!! Asked for Allagosh beer, she said whaaaaaat???? So I knew I had to settle down for genetics sheet!!! No steamers, no descent beer, so I ordered an IPA from tap and fried oysters and steam shrimps (major downgrade from steamers and blue crabs)... I asked for medium fried oysters which apparently meant nothin to them... it came and 2 bricks of heavily fried oysters!!! I bit into one and spit it out and put it aside. The steamed shrimps you have to be a major tard to F up and it was just that.,, Overall experience was good cuz of wonderful bartender but the rest, I was just shocked with the rating!!! Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on slightly unusual button layout for a quarter is a huge improvement. Still a solid choice for pinball and featuring Heavy Seas and Flying Dog on tap. If you really are missing the feeling of spending fifty cents on games from 1994 and earlier this arcade is a great option. One day I hope they'll get some new games and lower the price of every game to a quarter; they've improved but only to slightly below average. read more

We came here for an outing with the job and the service was great but the food, well let's just say I'd never come back here to eat. I literally ran out of the door gagging because of the DEAD FLY whose final resting place was in my cocktail sauce. Yes I upheaved what I had eaten on the pavement in front of the restaurant. Another member of my group ordered the old bay wings. They were a beautiful golden brown on the outside but still ice cold on the inside to the bone. I can only review this for the arcade, not for the food. I've never eaten there, and I likely never will, which is the only reason it got 4 stars and not 5. SO many video classic video games, pinball machines, etc. It's like flashing back to the mid 1980s. I could spend all night playing games there and never need a break. Any children of the 70s or 80s can regress, and children of the 90s can see what they missed by not being born in the era of the arcade. This was my date night with my husband, and after posting it to Facebook, about 20 people had messaged to ask me where this amazing place was. We have group plans to go back. Interesting place and one of the coolest restaurants I've ever been too! The restaurant is divided into three sections: restaurant/arcade/bar. The restaurant was for more of a sit down family dine in area. This place has a happy hour and their happy hour menu consists of wings, mozzarella sticks, clams, mussels, and calamari. The calamari was an abundant amount and was great because of the generous portions. The mussels and clams tasted a bit too seafoody to me. The mozzarella sticks were decent, but they tasted average as well as the buffalo wings. My party also ordered crab dip fries and crabcake sliders. The crabcake sliders were good, however, the bread tasted too plain like it was bought from a local food store. The crab dip fries were loaded with crab meat so that was amazing. The portion size for the crab dip fries was also enough for like four people so we were beyond satisfied in terms of our hunger. The best part of this restaurant is that they have an arcade connected to the dining hall. The arcade is full of classic games and many many pinball machines. The great part of the arcade is that the games are fairly cheap to play as the lowest costing game is a quarter and the highest costing games are the pinball machines that are around 75 cents.
