It was gray in color, with white chunks of I guess flour floating in it - no flavor whatsoever, tasted like water and was very watery along with being cold. Jalapeño poppers were gross, again zero flavor. Calamari was just ok and you can't really mess up a pretzel. The chicken Chesapeake tasted fishy, overly salted - inedible. We were with a large party and more than half of us didn't eat our meals. Service was fast and friendly. And the kids just love the arcade... I went to visit my guy in MD and of course I told him I wanted to get some blue crabs. They were so expensive everywhere! I researched and found this family owned restaurant and got my fix on. We ordered a dozen mixed medium crabs and while they weren't heavy with meat, they were affordable and tasty which satisfied my craving. We stopped before catching my flight back home from BWI. Coming from Florida, everyone was telling me that I must try the crab cakes and I LOVE crab cakes. Saw this place on yelp with pretty good reviews. So we stopped here during our travels. Ordered a crab cake sandwich which came with fries. Ordered the crab cakes to go over the phone to pick up. There was a special, so it was about $9 for the crab cakes sandwich, fries and a drink. We came early on a Friday (3 pm) and didn't have any issues with parking and waiting for a table. What a great find! We're in from out of town and searched seafood restaurants. Let me tell you... we walked out incredibly full! Friday nights are "oyster nights." Prices range from 75¢ to $1 EACH! So of course we ate our full. Next came the steamed clams and calamari. Sooooo good! Dinners were a burger, which was pretty juicy, shrimp Caesar salad, seared scallops and a steamer pot. Really good bar food combined with an arcade, what more could you possibly ask for?? This place may seem random but honestly, we had the best time. We came in a random weekday because we both had the day off. So we took seats at the bar to day drink, have our fill of good food, and play the pinball machines for an extended period of time. The staff were varying degrees of friendly right off the bat but totally warmed up by the end of our visit. They were attentive and efficient, which is always a plus. We ordered the crap soup (our least favorite dish surprisingly), the crab pretzel (which was massive but and super cheesy), and two kinds of wings - sweet chili and salt and vinegar. Hands down, the wings were amazing - especially the salt and vinegar ones. They were everything you would want - crispy, salty, tangy, and generous in size. I'd go back again just for those wings alone. But the amazingness doesn't stop there - the arcade attached is killer. The room is ringed with all kinds of pinball machines with a slew of old and newer arcade games in rows in the middle. The pièce de résistance is the Addams Family pinball machine. (!!!) Arguably the best pinball machine ever made, I spent a good 90 mins playing this game over and over and honestly, it was the best $15-$20 I've ever spent in a long time. Been driving past this place for 4 years now. The Yelp reviews had me iffy, and I had found a seafood spot not to far away that I really liked. Not to mention the one time I did try to come here there was a 1.5 hour waiting time. However, the conversation of all you can eat crabs came up, and me and my wife got to Yelping. Though we only knew only 2 spots around us offered that kid of deal. Crabtowne USA was one, and there was another in Crofton. So we decided on Crabtowne USA because if the wait was to long we could mosey down the street to our other spot, and not have to drive back across town. Warning: If your car sits low use the entrance over by the arcade side, and not the one at the light. We learned that the hard way. Once we got inside, we were surprised to be sat right away, and that was the start of when things got good. Our seat was just outside of the arcade, next to the coin machines. Which might not sound great, but it was actually a non issue. We had enough room as to not be bothered by the traffic that came through. The inside of the restaurant looks exactly like...You guessed it... a crabhouse! Its not trying to mask its identity by dolling up the inside like some places do, and honestly it doesn't need to. Our server was Michelle. Very helpful, and did a great job. It was our first time here, and she made awesome recommendations that really helped us out, after I started going all bull in a china shop on the menu. We ended up ordering 2 dozen crabs instead of the all you can eat, which was better for us because it was way cheaper, and not the $60 per person it would've been had we done the all you can eat. The 3 of us ate exactly 2 dozen crabs in the 2 hours it would've taken to eat the all you can eat. She saved us like 70 bucks on our trip. We were fortunate to catch the last 30 minutes of happy hour and we made good use of the time. The happy hour deals are some of the best that I have seen in the area, and the DRINKS ARE STRONG!!! I don't mean knock your socks off you're going to be wasted in 2-3 drinks strong. It's moreso a proper drink with a proper pour. Not those watered down GREEN TURTLE IN WAUGH CHAPEL, did they forget to put the alcohol in this, Drink 30 and not feel a thing thats why i'm never going back plus the food was complete trash drinks that you find in other places that I won't mention. The crabs: We opted for medium size males, and we were definitely not disappointed. Last year I went to a well known crab spot in Baltimore that were boasting crabs about the same size, calling them large, and charging about 40 more dollars for them. The seasoning they use is really good, but can come off a bit spicy. So I know for sure my youngest would never eat the crabs from here. However She can definitely get some chicken strips and about 10 dollars worth of quarters for the arcade when I do bring her, so that my wife and I can get our grub on. When we left that only thing my wife and I could ask if why the hell it took us so long to come here. Basically another fiasco with a large group. First and foremost, this place is constantly busy. I mean it appears to be hard to find a table in here on any given night. It is talked about highly from people around the community. And who could go wrong with a full out arcade? So we showed up and were able to secure enough seating for all of our party. We were clumped in in an area that was rather dimly lit. It made it hard to look over the menu. What was the beginning of messing up started with the drink orders. We placed our drink orders and they never appeared. When they came back around to take our food order we had to remind them that we never received our drinks. The drinks did eventually show up, but it was a trickle. It was so odd, people were receiving food at our table while I was still waiting for my drink. Everything trickled here. I mean everything. Food came out at a slow pace to the point that half the party was already eating or near done with their meals. My friend and I were sitting there without a plate in front of us while everyone else was eating. But we couldn't let anyone know because the staff were scarce at best. Those that were serving the food were not the ones that were taking the orders. Things were brought out and placed in front of people but they weren't always right. Towards the end of service and my friend and I were still without our food. We finally tracked down our server that took the order and asked about the whereabouts of our food. He was unaware that we did not get served yet, just assumed that we had already eaten. Langston, you were amazing and did this with such grace, you went back to the kitchen only to find out that they assumed everything was completed on the ticket and then trashed it. You came out and let us know that our food was being made fresh right at that moment and it would be out shortly. Even offered to make it right. When the food did finally show up, and after my anger subsided due to the extreme wait, it was wonderful. I know, you are probably wondering what I ordered. I am not one that is friends with the shellfish. Never have been and then I developed an allergy to them. So I went with their take on fish and chips. Everything thing on that plate was devoured by me. Was it out of anger? Was it out of hunger? We may never know, but I ate every single bit of food on that plate. The breading on that fish was amazing, completely crunchy and held up to the flaky fish on the inside. That tarter sauce, I am not certain on this, but I swear there was mustard seed in it that gave it just a little more kick which was amazing. And those chips, or fries as many people will call them, fresh cut and golden fried. Aside from the few missteps with service, ordering, and delivering, things went smoothly. But I see that hitting a restaurant with a huge group order can throw the kitchen off. There were a ton of people at the restaurant. I did go into the arcade area. You can kind of call this a barcade actually. You basically come out here with your drink of choice and dive into nostalgia. All the video games that you grew up with are out here. Well.... At first my experience was not the best. This was my first time here and it seemed very flustered. As we walked in, the person at the host stand seemed new or not sure what she was doing. She did not acknowledge anyone. Someone from the bar came to help. I found some seats at the bar and sat down to wait for our table. Luckily my experience changed shortly after. We decided to stay at the bar because of Jace. Our bartender Jace was awesome! She was very attentive, funny, personable, kind and hard working. I witnessed her going from making drinks, to assisting with seating guests, to helping with concerns and then delivering food. She was amazing. I did witness some on the floor arguring amongst the staff right next to us, but Jace came right over and said " we will not do this on the floor in front of guests". I was so happy she said this. As much as want to leave a 4 star I can't due to so-so staff. Realizing how hard it is to find someone willing to work I still think more training is needed. I think I hit a bad night. Walked in at 4:20 in the afternoon on a Friday can you cook over an hour to get some crab soup and crab mac and cheese. I can't say that either of these items were packed with crab as a matter of fact I'm not sure if there was any in the soup unfortunately. It is also a super noisy place due to the fact that there is a large arcade in one part of the building and kids running all over. I visited Crabtowne for the first time over the weekend and was thoroughly impressed. From the ambiance, food and service - all were A1! Since I wasn't that hungry, I indulged in the Crab Dip Wafer Fries and an American Mule. The Crab dip was extremely cheesy, but after mixing everything together, it came out pretty good. The Wafer Fries were lightly seasoned with a good crisp, just as I prefer them. The Mule was a little heavy on the beer, but had enough sweetness to even out the taste. My only gripe was the parking which was a little confusing. The area could use more lighting as well. My server was awesome. Her name escapes me, but she had a few tattoos throughout her body. She was very friendly, attentive and had a thorough understanding of the menu. I can't forget to mention the arcade. The games only accept quarters, and there is a coin machine in the restaurant if needed. My sister, cousin and myself ate here yesterday for my sister's birthday. Our primary reason was to eat steamed crabs. We have eaten here several times in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed the service and food. But this time not so good. This was my first time eating here since the pandemic. We started off with the oysters rockefeller. There was horrible! The oysters weren't cooked enough, the spinach thrown on any kind of way. No cheese or very little. No taste. We sent it back. We decided to order the crabs. The crabs were smaller than anticipated. The mediums which we purchased for $100 per dozen weren't seasoned the way they use to. It was more or less old bay sprinkled on top of the crabs instead steamed in the pot. The hush puppies were very good. The crab mac and cheese was good. The fried shrimp was good. Our server April was fantastic!! We all paid CASH for our orders. I didn't notice util I got home that on my receipt I was CHARGED A 3% CREDIT CARD FEE. I called and spoke to the manager Angie. She informed me that it was standard procedure to add the fee because most customers pay with credit cards. She stated that it is programmed in the register. She said it's up to the server to deduct it when the customer pays cash. She offered to reimburse the fee, but since I live an hour drive away, it wasn't worth it. Why are these fees automatically added instead of the server added it manually when the bill is paid??? I don't know if I'll be coming back. Amazing! This was our first experience having steamed blue crabs this way. We were in town on business from NY, and decided to take advantage of being in Maryland. We went exploring and wanted to avoid going downtown because of parking, I've had many people tell me to go to LP steamers which seems to be pretty popular for tourist. They don't bother putting It on the menu. She then recited the prices from Small- Xtra large blue crabs by the dozen. Anyhow we ordered a dozen steamed Medium sized crabs. It took about 30 mins for our crabs to come out, but I mean they're doing It fresh to order so I understand the wait. We had the crab dip waffle fries as a starter, omg I had to stop myself from eating the whole plate before I got too full. That dip was PACKING in crab, like sooo much crab meat you could eat It as your whole meal. My husband and I shared it and still didn't finish it all. After waiting over 45 minutes we asked about our food and they told us they didn't know at the time we ordered but that's the steamer was down. No problem, but the server also didn't even know if it was currently back up. Finally, another 20 mins later after we were trying to pay for my toddler's food and our drinks to leave, our steamers came out but not my wife's chicken sandwich. Just weird.
