I ordered a full Southern meal of Catfish, fried apples, grits w butter & honey, and Loaded Hashbrown Caserole (extra cheese & bacon bits). Catfish was okay, a bit dry but not muddy so win. Now with Hashbrown Caserole it used to have bacon bits in it... this was cheese mixed hashbrowns. The extra cheese and bacon bits didn't disappoint and helped it a lot. Apples are definitely out of the can/bag. I understand Mass production and they were okay. Grits were done right. I usually have to ask 2 or 3 times for honey when I came in in years past... today waitress brought me a whole honey bear. Dan's Southern Fried Chicken was okay. He said they injected it with salt to boost flavor. Salty was the verdict - to the point he was removing the skin to reduce salt intake - and skin on fried chicken is often one of the best parts. Now hostess was a bit short with me. I give it a whatever, not in the mood and a bit grumpy, so it totally could have been me. I give it a pass. Waitress Tasha was on top of it! My family and I have not been here in a couple of years. The last couple times the service was bad to mediocre. The food was cold and unappealing. We wanted to give it another try. We love the campfire meals and they just brought them back. My son had the campfire shrimp casserole, I had the campfire beef and my hubby has campfire chicken. The service was very good, the meals were hot and flavorful! We also tried the mini cinnamon rolls. They were good too. We all had a nice meal. I hadn't had Cracker Barrel for the first time until last year and man is it delicious. It's simple, breakfast and fried delights. I like that they feed my shopping addiction both before and after my meals, and I know what to expect when I eat there- no surprises! The waitresses are always very nice and my boyfriend puts us on the waitlist so we never have to wait when we show up (but I wouldn't complain anyways when I can shop and sit in a rocking chair)! At that same location, on Coors, I was once charged for a small container of milk when I only requested enough milk for my coffee instead of the usual half n half. I quit the rewards program because too many times, the cashier didn't know how to process it. No biggie. The food is still delicious. The wood paneling is nostalgic yet often too dark. The restrooms are basically clean. Over the years, whether I was vegetarian or not, I've eaten my fave dishes but this time, I could not resist ordering their pork chops. The place is really what you'd expect from a cracker barrel in terms of the decor and the front area store which is always a delight. I do love looking through the old candies and other knickknacks. I wanted a lighter meal and decided I wanted the lemon pepper grilled rainbow trout. Reviewing the menu now it says it comes with two fillets, I was only served one! No wonder the dish seemed really really small. for the price, I wonder where the other one went. Too bad I hadn't remembered the menu that well when I was in the restaurant. The side salad, which is in the photo, was huge though. I guess I might go back if I want the fried food, but looking back now with the knowledge that they literally halved my meal, I'm not sure I will. Great news!!! I think they've gotten better after getting several bad reviews. Lately my servers have been awesome and today I had a newcomer, Precious... her real name. She was so polite and efficient. They've also made changes to the menu and added what I was wanting - "4-6 pm dinner specials." There's a group of about 6-7 dinners to choose from and the portions as well as the prices are reduced. My meal today was still enough for me to take some home. I got the Steak Tips w Garlic sauce, fresh broccoli and fresh mashed potatoes w brown gravy. All very good. I'm ok w mashed potatoes w some lumps bc then I know they're fresh and NOT instant. I was passing through Albuquerque and made a pit stop here for a quick meal. The hostess was friendly, but she sat my son and I at a dirty table. I decided to switch tables on my own. When she noticed that I switched tables, she asked me to move back to the table she initially sat me at. I told her it was dirty, so she grabbed a towel, wiped it down and asked me again to move back. It took awhile for our server to come out. She was very friendly. Before coming here, I didn't know that 98% of the food they serve here contains meat, so as someone who doesn't eat meat, I struggled to find something I could eat. The server told me even the salads have meat in them. So I was limited to a few items. I ended up with a side of mashed potatoes and a side of corn as my meal, my son had a kids breakfast plate. The silverware is wrapped in a brown bag, when I opened mine, they were dirty, another server brought me two more bags of utensils, and both of those were dirty too. The food was very good, but the service was very slow. As for the dining area, the tables are worn down, and the floors were dirty. The whole place could really use a deep cleaning and dusting. A pretty good experience! We visited at 9:30pm during Balloon Fiesta's opening weekend. The servers were kind - especially considering the long days they probably have during this time! Okay so we went for lunch after church and got to the restaurant at 1225pm. We were told it was going to be 35 minutes wait and by the time we sat and actually got our food was already 245pm! It was such a wait time but the waiter was very efficient and on top of our needs for a table of 8. I will say we did kill about an hour at the shop while we waited but for some of our guest it was too much. I would say that weekdays service is faster and waiting time is shorter. Taste has dramatically improved and they seasoned food decently. It can get crowded and hardly any room inside the shop on busy times.
