Arrived 2 hours before closing , was seated pretty quickly in spite of the fact that they were busy. We sat for approximately 15 mins before our drink order was taken. When the waitress came to our table, she immediately complained about her having to wait on us due to her coworker l's lack of doing so. We have our orders and 15 mins later our food was brought out. All of the veggies were in paper bowls. We had the ask for silverware. We had to ask for bread. Food was hanging off the side so of one of one of my bowls so I sent it back. To be honest, my food was thrown on the plate. My fish was undercooked and the greens weren't done. I complained and was told that things happen due to it being so close to closing time. Finally the manager come out and said I wouldn't be charged for the fish or they would cook me another piece. I declined. None of my food was appetizing. The waitress was overworked and never once offered to refill our drinks and kept forgetting items we asked her for. All in all, we were very unhappy with our food and service. read more

my mom and i came to the clemons cracker barrel for an early lunch. i am an employee at a cracker barrel store and the lady who checked up out was extremely rude. she didn't asked us "how was everything, or how are you." she greeted the people before us and when they walked off i waited a second before i approached her bc she didn't speak and didn't acknowledge us. there were no words exchanged until i told her i had my employee #. she asked for my ID which was fine if that's what she has to do no problem, but normally no one asks me. my mom asked why retail has to do that just because she was curious and didn't know how it worked (clearly bc she doesn't work there) and victoria got very defensive and was rolling her neck and didn't even make eye contact with us. this sucks bc our server nichole was wonderful and super nice but that's not the first time i've had a bad experience with retail at this store.. read more

This place is always packed - epecially on the weekends at breakfast. I never understood why but then we ate there. We got there at 9am (well before the church crowd) and walked right in. They were AMAZING with the kids - the waitress knew to bring the same color crayons, drinks with tops etc. The food was okay - i just had eggs and pancakes and it wasn't anything special but it was solid. Would definitely go back as long as I get there before the crowds - if you go after 10am on a Sunday be prepared to wait. read more

First of all, let me say that I HAVE always enjoyed this place! Awesome food, BUT on Jan. 9, 2020 We ate lunch and it made my mom sick. She had the Southern Chicken which was NOT fresh, it was re-heated!!! Ususally that meal is hot and soooo good, BUT this time is was not! I had the Barrel Burger and that did not taste good either! Who was the cook on that day?? Get rid of him/her cause the are terrible cooks!!! We visit this restaurant at least 1 a week in Clemmons and this is the first time we were disappointed in our meal. Who was the cook on Jan 9th?? Also, our meals were wrong, I got regular fries when I should have gotten Steak fries! AND my moms chicken had fries with it and she never ordered those! Wait staff is usually very nice and friendly. Service is slow sometimes but it is a busy restaurant. The only real complaint I have is that the floors are disgusting. They are very sticky but it is a family restaurant with syrup so not a huge surprise. Food tastes good so I will be back but I hate the sticky floors. read more

Let me start by saying that I only order take-out from here now. The smells of every scent of Yankee Candle (ironic) stashed in the country store ruin my appetite. That said, I understand food will not be as good after a ten minute drive home. They do family service right. Kids that would normally drive everyone in the building crazy on a 30-45 minute wait list (I used to be one, so I know!) can be occupied by a toy store and checkerboards. That's my one positive. I have learned that when calling in an order, the person on the phone will lie. They always say ten minutes. I now wait 20 before leaving the house, and have still spent anywhere from 10-45 minutes wandering around the crowded and tightly packed store, soaking in the bouquet of grease , vanilla, lilac, cinnamon, and everything else I called in to avoid. I get that they are busy, especially all day on Sundays, but give me an honest quote! I would be much happier spending that extra time at home. The food itself is the expected mass-scale microwave dinner. It is good, sometimes, but I promise you Grandma is not back there cooking up a family-style feast large enough to fill two multipage menus. On the occasions that I decide to give them another try, I usually get a bacon cheeseburger, better than fast food at about the same price. They ask if you want medium or well, but medium is unfailingly grey throughout. I assume "well" means "burnt." The veggies on the burger are always fresh, the pickles are the best part. The bacon and Colby cheese add a nice smoky flavor, but if you end up with an edge that is just beef and bread you might as well throw it away. The patty itself is flavorless and rubbery. Overall, if you know what you are getting into it's good for what it is; a southern-style chain restaurant with a gimmick. Plan to be on a wait-list or be given a grossly underestimated ready-time. This is a pretty standard Cracker Barrel. The food (I only ever get the breakfast) is good. Isolde note: don't think the kids meals are a good deal. The drinks are expensive and I can actually mix and match things from the adult menu for cheaper. The staff is usually friendly. We go here fairly regularly and have never been disappointed. My husband and I have come here countless times and have not experienced such piss-poor treatment from this establishment, until today. Service was exceptionally slow, and the place wasn't even that busy (there were only about four or five other parties already seated and no line, which is rare for this location, and throughout our visit the shop was all but deserted). Waitress came out about twenty minutes after we were seated and apologized for the wait, but didn't smile once or offer her name (Tara) and was generally very unfriendly. She took my husband's drink order, then tried to talk over me as I tried to order my drink, then asked if we were ready to order lunch with a very snippy attitude (which we were, since we had plenty of time to decide before she made her appearance), then took another fifteen minutes to get the drinks to us. Forget about refills. The only time any of the waitresses appeared were to take orders and bring food and drinks. Tara was walking past me after speaking to another table of patrons, so I chose that moment to get her attention after I was finished with my plate (my drink was empty before the biscuits came out), which seemed to bother her a great deal. She made that quite clear when she slammed my drink onto the table. Additionally, she never asked me which sides I wanted (I specified that I did not want meat with my meal, but she never asked if I wanted hash browns or fried apples) and my eggs-in-a-basket came without a side dish. I then decided just to leave the dining room and walk around the shop the rest of the time, as I was now in a bad mood thanks to her surly demeanor (I ended up buying a cute sugar skull-themed salt and pepper set). If I do return to this location, it won't be to eat. I do like the little shop. But my husband and I have agreed to eat at the Lexington location instead, from now on. read more

Prejudice people. If you are not a redneck do not go there. We never had such a bad experience. From the beginning that waitress looked like she saw a ghost! We told her to give us a minute to check the menu since this is our first time, she went for 30 seconds even less and came back asking "are you ready now?" I ordered chicken tenders and it was too small, so I asked for one more meal. She came back after 5 mins saying "we are out" I said okay don't worry about it then. She said "okay" and left!!! She did not even bother to offer something else. Our daughter's plate was still full, she brought the bill and put it on the table without even asking if we are done or if we need anything else like a desert... So I called the manager Tony and explained the situation. He said that she could have handled it better, can I get you anything else?! This is not her fault, this is the culture this restaurant is built on and it was obvious when we spoke to the manager. My sister and I had a bad experience this past Sunday. We were celebrating our 75th birthday and went for pecan pancakes. The pecans in the pancakes were not fresh. We ordered 2 biscuits and got cold slightly cooked biscuits. Sent them back to be warmed and got burnt biscuits. We spent $20 and left a $4 tip for a horrible celebration. read more

This place tried to sell us outdated sausage--twice! The second time, it was more than three months outdated!! I reported them to the Health Department. After apologies, and expressions of thanks from them for reporting this---we stayed away for quite a few months. Feeling lucky this evening, we went there for breakfast/supper. I ordered the Sunday Sampler, my wife the Mom's pancake platter. When the food came I was missing one of the two eggs that were supposed to come with the Sampler--and no side order of sausage. The two eggs that were supposed to come with my wife's order were not there either. Additionally, her sausage was burned on one side, and the pancakes were as well--on both sides! She did not say anything to me about it until she had eaten a little of it--so did not report it to the wait staff. I was nice, too--and did not report the way overdone, supposed to be easy-over egg and cold potato casserole. However, when the missing items finally did appear---my side of sausage was BURNED to a crisp on one side (the side down--of course). By then my wife had told me about her sausage and pancakes. I gave my side of sausage to the waitress---who profusely apologized for someone else's failing. She was good--and I do not hold her responsible for this. The coup-de-gras came when I got half way through the cooked apples to find collard greens in it. I do not know whether it was leftovers from someone else's meal or some attached to the spoon that the cook used to ladle both items to the bowls. This is disgusting! read more

My husband and I stopped by this particular Cracker Barrel on our way home to Mocksville from Winston Salem this morning. It has been a few months since we had eaten at this particular location. We used to stop more frequently before my surgery on our way home from doctors in Winston, but today had my post-op check up. When we were served, my bacon had absolutely no taste whatsoever, not even of salt, and I could tell it had been deep fried!!! YUCK!!! The hash browns had no flavor, either. (Not the casserole, the regular hash browns.) The eggs were fried like I asked for, over easy, but the toast was only very slightly toasted and that was the top part of the bread. The rest of the toast was just limp. It was as though we were in a strange restaurant as we have always been more than pleased with whatever we order from the menu at all Cracker Barrels. Also, the gravy was not edible as it tasted like flour. So the only enjoyable foods on my plate were the eggs and grits. My husband also complained that the only thing on his plate that by that was decent were the Cracker Barrel pancakes.....always a delight. Do they have a new cook there that has their first job cooking? What happened to that locations food, anyway? We won't be stopping at that location again, believe me!!!! read more
