I brought three work associates to CB for lunch. McKayla did a great job taking care of us. Our order was correct, she frequented our table on a timely basis, and refreshed drinks as needed. I called in dinner. Everything was great except the mashed potatoes. It was actually an old baked potato mashed up that had turned a dark color. Possibly left over from lunch. It still had the shape of a baked potato on one end. read more

This visit started out horribly. We got there at about 2.00 pm and gave our name to the host, Bobo. He said our wait would be about 10 or 15 minutes. That was fine. After about 20 minutes I returned to host stand to inquire about how much longer the wait would be. It appears he had not even put our name on the list. Instead of seating us immediately he took our name and put us on the list and said again it would be about a 10 to 15 minutes. At that point I requested to speak to the manager. The manager, Steve greeted us and I expressed my concern. He agreed and apologized and was able to get us seated next. We werw finally seated about 2.30. We waited for our server.... and waited and waited. We watched 3 tables get greeted and drink orders taken. Still no server for us. Finally, just before I was about to go find a manager, a lady came up to us very confused and asked if we had been helped. We informed her that we had not and were quite unhappy with the wait. She asked us to wait a moment and she would take care of it. She came back and apologized stating the server for this table had left. She quickly got us our drinks and took our order. The manager, Chrissy, came up to speak to us and apologize as well. Our server, Andreana was very attentive and a fantastic server the rest of our meal. She made sure our food came hot and fast and our drinks stayed full. She and the manager helped turn what was going to be a horrible review into a pretty good one. Hopefully this was a one time issue and they correct whatever communication issue occured today. read more

I was very disappointed at Cracker Barrel. We have eaten there many times and usually order Chicken Pot Pie since it is our favorite. This time , even though it is listed in the menu, there were no peas, carrots or potatoes in this pie just gravy and chicken with an overcooked crust. This place was absolutely wonderful! Baby changing tables in both women's and men's restroom, and were incredibly clean. The staff is very welcoming, and even has us go though our to-go bag to make sure we had all our items. read more

At this Cracker Barrel, they sure know how to move at a country pace... while the service is generally friendly, it's occasionally slow. Our poor server had to fend off the delays in the kitchen. She was quite nice and was doing the best that could be done with the kitchen issues. The food is good, but not great. Consistent, but not inventive. Filling, but inexpensive. The chaos that is the store/hostess stand was evident. Employees were calling for help and their co-workers would glance at the hostess stand and walk the other direction. Honestly, if it wasn't so cramped and crowded, I'd probably buy something. All in all - not the sorta-quick breakfast/lunch meal we had hoped for on a road trip. read more

Love that I can order from the children's (children of all ages) menu here, since I don't eat a lot. Also like the price for kids meals , at $4.49 including the drink. All the money I save , I spend in the store, of course. At Cracker Barrel there is much inconsistency from one store to another. Today, no butter was served with my cornbread or Jim's pancakes until we asked and no pepper sauce with my greens. Megan was fairly new and very friendly. Been to this same restaurant about 4 times, so they must be doing something right. The staff is generous. There are always customers. Food wait can be anywhere from 10 minutes to 30. I always get the country boy's big breakfast. Medium rare steak. They have a variety of jams and apple butter. Biscuits are always fresh. Very clean and opens early. read more

I went to Cracker Barrel today, we were waiting for biscuits for 20 minutes before our waiter decided to tell us that there were no more biscuits left. 2/4 of our meals were BISCUITS and gravy. We then had to wait even longer for more biscuits. However, the biscuits were good once we finally got them. My Mother was just humiliated in this Cracker Barrel. A manager by the name of Kevin Simmons accused my mother of stealing a sweater which she paid for. This manager has no tact. His demeanor and the way in which he approached my mother at her table where she had already placed her order was rude. My mother was still in the restaurant and waiting for her meal- the least you could do is go check with the cashier before rudely approaching my Mother. Anyone in a management position or owning a business knows there is a correct way to approach someone in this type of circumstance-obviously Kevin missed this class on how to be a good manager. Myself, my husband, and my father all own or have owned businesses-we have never treated any customer the way you did today. Mr. Simmons, you are a poor excuse of a manager and you should be ashamed of yourself. You will be hearing from us again. We all feel it would be a good idea for you to be demoted to dishwasher until you learn what all your job as a manager entails... you know things like good manners, politeness, correct procedures for handling a situation. Waited an hour (pick up) for two Momma's Pancake meals -- when I finally got tired of standing there waiting and asked about them, the Manager yells back for my order - delivers it shortly thereafter --- ICE cold !!! Cracker Barrel is Cracker Barrel, right? I think we all no what to expect. I really enjoy the pancakes and my wife likes the gramma's breakfast. We can go anywhere in the country and know what to expect. On my first visit I would give a thumbs up except when I ordered a side of grits I got the smallest bowl of grits I have ever seen. That is too much $$ for such a small portion. In another visit I called in a take out order. It ended up taking another 30 minutes longer than they told me. I probably should have just eaten there instead of walking around the general shop for that long. So to sum it all up, I would avoid the costly sides and don't call in any pickups, those are two things I won't do here again. read more

I'm so disappointed. I love the sunday chicken and have gotten it hundreds of times at various Cracker Barrel restaurants. I came today to get the sunday chicken because my husband had the day off and I had been having a bad day. Well, coming here was a mistake. The time it took to get our food was longer than usual, but we were chatting and playing the game that they have on the table so we didn't mind the wait. Once our food finally got to us, his was delicious. Mine was burnt. I didn't want to make a fuss about it so I took a bite thinking I would just eat it and it would be okay. I was wrong. The chicken was awful because it was so overdone. So we sent it back and got new chicken. The chicken I got next was almost as overdone and it was sitting in a pool of oil on my plate. I ended up just boxing it up and taking it home because I didn't want to send it back again. But now I'm hungry and I spent $33 on food that was awful. read more

Before I begin my review, I'd like you, the reader, to understand a couple things. 1. I do not regularly attend family style or "fast food" restaurants, but I have nothing against them. My expectations are nevertheless relatively low. 2. I have had the pleasure of eating at many fine dining and exotic cuisine restaurants around the world due to the nature of my job. These things being said, last week I was passing through Duncan on i85 heading back to Greenville. I was quite hungry having been in meetings in Charlotte all day. I saw the huge sign for Cracker Barrel and thought that I would stop in and give it a try for the first time. Upon entering the front door, I was graced with the beautiful smell of cinnamon candles and the comforting feel of southern home decor. Right away I knew I would enjoy my experience. I was promptly and graciously greeted by a seater and was directed to a small two-seated table in the middle of the room. All around me the mood was warm and inviting, elderly and young couples alike enjoying the Cracker Barrel experience. Much to my surprise, my experience from here only got better, thanks in large part to a Five-Star waiter named Michael Russell. Michael was the waiter you dream to get, the waiter all others dream to be. Calm, cool, welcoming, and extremely knowledgable of the history of the restaurant, the evolution of their food, and even the recipes involved, Michael has surpassed any expectation I had of any waiter, from a Michelin 2 star to Olive Garden. My glass never dropped below half full, and the biscuits never ceased to come. Michael was, I believe, the best server in the Continental United States. IF anyone of you reading this review ever attend the Cracker Barrel in Duncan, I promise if you ask for Michael Russell, you will not be disappointed. read more
