The last time I went to a Cracker Barrel was back in 2014. And that was probably one of a few times I have ever been in my entire life. I eat a little healthier nowadays than I did back then (I likely ate my weight in country fried steak) but my boyfriend and I wanted to get one last dinner out together before the work week began. My parents do not live near a lot of non-chain restaurants so we thought we would give Cracker Barrel a shot. Especially with all the hub bub around their new renovation plans! This location has not yet been renovated so we got to look around the knick knacks in all their country glory. Good prices and selection on country store goods all around as well as so many nostalgic candy brands! I particularly liked the selection of Goo Goos chocolates. :) We didn't buy anything though. So we were balling on a budget and trying to eat healthy so we both ordered chicken and dumplings with three sides at $11.99 each. We chose hash browns and two veggies for our sides and then waited. And waited. And waited. Service was very slow - Staff stood around, talking to each other a lot. Eh, I get that but we didn't have all day. We probably only checked on once in all. So service wasn't great but the food was pretty decent! Especially the dumplings! The veggies were basic and unseasoned (so I had to dump hot sauce on them) but I can see why... and lot of people who like things unseasoned probably are the targeted customers of Cracker Barrel. If you get my drift... Despite my efforts to be healthy, my boyfriend told the waitress it was my birthday the next day (it was) and I was treated their their famous coca cola chocolate cake with ice cream on the house! The cake was amazing and the soda flavor was subtle but definitely there. Definitely worth destroying my diet! All in all, we had a pretty good time and got out of there for around $30 with tax and tip! I am glad we gave this chain restaurant a shot! read more

I have generally been OK with Cracker Barrel in the past. They are not my favorite eating establishment as their menu offers rather average choices for my taste (at least for dinner and lunch). They were conceived and constructed more for my parents' generation (and I am 64!). But they have always had redeeming attributes. The food quality has been reasonably decent in the past and they used to be relatively reliable and consistent in terms of the overall experience they offered. They typically have nice facilities with a pleasant country store at each location. They had their place in our dining scheme because they can be found along the way to most places we travel within the US and we know what we are getting when we stop. They've traditionally been an especially safe choice when we have had my 90-plus-year-old father-in-law with us or we have had the grandkids (whose food repertoire is surprisingly much like my parents was). Having said this, I have noticed in recent years that the quality of service at Cracker Barrel, which used to be one of their best attributes, has declined. I suppose this an industry-wide problem, but when this was traditionally one of the best aspects of the chain, a noticeable decline in this area spells trouble. This issue was noticeable on this last visit to this location. While our waitress was pleasant and friendly, the food was very slow to come out (probably not her fault specifically), the order was not quite right and she kept forgetting to bring us sundries (extra napkins, etc.) for which we we asked and she said she would bring. She seemed to simply lack the energy (motivation) and organizational skills required. Our dinner stop took a long time because of the slowness and it took away from our experience significantly (we had a flight early the next morning and we just wanted to get to our hotel). As far as the food was concerned, the quality was up to expectations (and that is why I maintain a 3-star for the rating). I always get the grilled catfish as it is really the main dish on their menu to which I can look forward to eating. Their biscuits with honey are a favorite and they do their broccoli pretty well also. All of these were on my order and they tasted fine. My wife got the pork chops and, while she regretted forgetting to have them hold the gravy (the waitress did not ask), her dinner still tasted good to her. The prices here are not unreasonable as we can typically get by between $15 and $20 apiece after tax and tip (with water to drink). Their facility was fairly nice (even if it was cookie cutter) and my wife always enjoys looking around their shop. But in the grand scheme of things, it is just not a very exciting stop. If the service quality continues to decline, I don't see a lot of Cracker Barrel patronage in our future. read more

I generally do not do reviews on chain restaurants, but I decided to do one in hopes management reviews Yelp. To start, this is your typical Cracker Barrel... The employees are friendly and the food was good; however the restaurant was was very dirty - floors slippery/grimy, table was sticky, and the restroom was atrocious (I would not want to see what the kitchen looks like). Probably the biggest issue however was the lack of timeliness with our food... A normal Cracker Barrel takes 15-20 minutes (max) to get your food; it took 45+ mins for ours (for two people). Granted, it was a Sunday (which is a busy day), but it was 1 pm... 45 mins is awfully ridiculous. On a good note however, our server (Alysia) was awesome - Very attentive and she must have apologized 4 times about how long the food was taking. Obviously the kitchen was either very short handed or extremely mismanaged. Hopefully management can get it all figured out because this Cracker Barrel needs some TLC. read more

Came in today with a friend after being out in the sun and hanging out at a graduation party. My server was Erik and he was spectacular and has amazing service. It was slow when we came in but all the employees were in there A game. When we walked in we were greeted with an amazing welcome in. The food was excellent I got Fried Pickles and Loaded Hash brown Casserole Bites. They were hot and delicious. Our drinks were never empty, which was nice after being out in the sun. My cashier was CeCe and she was amazing and super sweet she even showed and my friend around and told us about the discounts. This location is easy to get to since it is right off the expressway. So far, that's the best part of our experience here today. Service is SLOWWWWW. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. We waited about 10 minutes for the hostess to seat us. Her staton was empty and she was nowhere to be found. There was another looooong wait for our meals to arrive. In fact, I have plenty of time to write this review while waiting for our food. The family seated next to us has also been waiting a long time. Overall, it took an hour from the time we arrived until the meals were delivered. Again, the restaurant was not at all busy - less than half the seats were occupied. I ordered soup. Soup is usually delivered before the meal so both the meal and soup can be enjoyed hot. Well, our sever brought out the soup with the meal. Now either my meal or the soup will get cold. Fortunately, the chicken was still warm after I had the soup, but my broccoli was room temperature. The steak my companion had was ordered medium, yet it was cooked medium rare. I ordered turnip greens and was given green beans. Server did bring out the turnip greens after I told her of the error. Server checked on us only once. We would have ordered desert, but didn't have another hour to wait. The menu states that soup is $1.99 when added to a meal, yet they charged me full price. We didn't ask for an adjustment because we had to leave. We were there so long that we're now behind schedule for the rest of the night. This location would be perfect for us as we travel the next few months, but we won't be back. read more

Hubby and I were in today-Thanksgiving 2021. Was not crowded (around 2 ish). Had one if their choices for Thanksgiving. The traditional turkey, dressing, Gravy, sweet potato mush and green beans. We've usually have liked Cracker Barrel, but we haven't been for several months. We had the worst experience today. First we both got Uncle Hershel's They stopped serving Grits. Waitress didn't share until I asked for mine. My husband got scrambled eggs with cheese. His eggs were not done. They looked like someone mixed up over easy eggs and called them scrambled. One tiny bowl of gravy to share. Only three biscuits with no butter or jelly. Our bacon was ordered crisp. Mine was fine, but my husbands was dripping with grease. We had to ask for silverware after breakfast was served. I saw her running back and forth to get other tables silverware. No napkins with meal. My husband never got a coffee refill. I took my mother to the Cracker Barrel on Maysville Road in Fort Wayne, In. she was craving their meatloaf. What I noticed first when we sat down was an unpleasant smell like they have been using a dirty mop that has soured and over all the placed just had a dirty smell to it. So, I'm sitting there, and I could see into the kitchen some and there were 2 rolled type counters and I could see under those units and trash that was under them was truly disgusting and that was my view while eating my dinner. It was unique and caught my attention immediately. I got biscuits and sausage with gravy, which was fine, but the gravy wasn't what I expected. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was just missing something. Biscuits and gravy is my favorite American breakfast, so I can definitely say I was a little disappointed. Then he never checked on us..another 44 minutes to get our food..he never brought us silverware, even after I asked 3 times. We enjoy this Cracker Barrel. As long as we don't go during peak weekend hours, the service is usually fast and we are seated almost right away. The food is usually very good at tastes homemade. We like to order lunch/ dinner. I love the Sunday homestyle fried chicken which is always crunchy on the outside and super juicy. They have such a variety in side dishes which is nice. Today I had brunch with my family of 9 (3 kids, 6 adults). We waited 45 minutes which was expected; however we waited 65 minutes due to a mistake by the hostess/another family whom arrived after us, also family of 9 was seated as are name. I addressed it when it happen, the hostess said our name but not the number of people and quickly said different family name and number. I asked the hostess about it, it was a genuine mistake it sounded like. After about 65 minutes we noticed a lot more familirs were seated before us whom arrived after us. I asked the hostess how much longer of a wait, they thought they seated us outside (the other family). They quickly got us situated which I appreciate. I really felt the manager was not as apologetic nor care has he should of. I understand covid is going on, but this place really was not close to what is currently allowed by the state in fullness. I asked if we could put tables together he said no, the tables were diagonal about 4 at each. Whatever, but we could atleast done foot or so apart as other restaruant try work though the same problems have done. The restaurant did not have any chocolate milk. I want to note Kelli service was great and the store staff was awesome. I really expected the manager to go above and beyond, I really expected an apology to our family near end our meal. Hopefully dessert or money off our check, but the cold bottom line was not an apology to us was received as he checked on us near the end of our meal.
