This review marks my first time at a Cracker Barrel ever and if every Cracker Barrel experience is on the same level then I'm looking forward to visiting more of their locations. I've never heard particularly good things about the chain so I never had a reason to try it before. In fact, I had In-N-Out on my mind at the time and was slightly upset to have gotten outvoted. I didn't know this place was a store and a restaurant, but everything in the store appeared to be of decent quality. We were seated quickly and our server did a spectacular job making us feel welcome and knowing exactly what to recommend for my indecisiveness. I ended up ordering the chicken fried chicken with white gravy, sides of boiled carrots and fruit cup with a mix of biscuit and cornbread. The portion sizes are really big and I think I would've personally filled up had I not gotten any sides, but I had to try a bit of everything so I resigned myself to the high probability of ending up in food coma (which I did). Chicken fried chicken has been a bit of an obsession for me ever since I first learned about the dish. The funny name gets me to order it every time I see it on a menu, and even though it's quite literally just fried chicken it'll always be a tier higher than other fried chickens in my book. I wish there were more Cracker Barrel locations closer to me so I could get chicken fried chicken more often. read more

Food was ok if you like bland food. Really not bad nor great just there. I got chicken fried steak which was small but not over cooked. Gravy was bland and needed hot sauce to liven it up. Sides were grits and okra which was also meh. Was expecting better. Service was good but no greeter and took a bit to be seated. Served did his best to make this a good experience but that was not going to make the food better. Ambiance was roomy but contrived. Not really homey. Seriously just a so, so dining experience and I was hungry after driving 9 hours. If I took the time to Yelp a better place I would have but wanted to give Cracker Barrel a try. It is well a heavy heart that I write this review. I have been eating at Cracker Barrel restaurants for over 40 years. I was delighting as a child to go on a school trip in Tennessee and have a great treat at one of the first Cracker Barrels. Stopping to have a fabulous "homemade" hearty meal was always something to look forward to. Unfortunately my experience today was such a disappointment. I do not live near Kingman and was so happy to be able to eat breakfast here. First, I must say, the service was great. Our server was attentive and welcoming. She offered refills frequently. Our food came out very fast with little waiting. I cannot say anything bad about the staff. It is the quality of the food that has significantly declined. I got eggs and bacon with biscuits and gravy. The scrambled eggs were runny and didn't seem to be fresh eggs from the shell. They had very little if any flavor. The biscuits were very small and did not have the golden crust that Cracker Barrel biscuits always had in the past. The gravy was pasty with no flavor other than flour. In the past there was always the crisp pepper and sausage flavor notes. The consistency was very gelatinous and didn't spread as a good gravy does. The bacon was crisp but not the applewood flavor it had in the past. We also had coffee which was watered down and flavorless. I don't know if this is a new trend going forward at all of the Cracker Barrels as far as minimizing quality ingredients as supplies become more expensive or it was a fluke. We were disappointed at the menu as it was much more abbreviated than in the past. I felt that new items were added that eliminated quality for "bulk" items like potatoes and cheese. I am hopeful that this is temporary for only the breakfast menu. read more

Place has gone downhill. I used to stop whenever I pass by Kingman AZ but no longer. Table next to me had issues with the food too. Some was still good like the pancakes. Meatloaf came out quite cold and not worth eating. I asked them to take just the meatloaf off the bill on a 3 sampler platter. Manager had attitude and offered to give me another slice to go of that slop I wouldn't give to my stray cats. She walked off in a huff and ended up taking it off bill but attitude always gets a one star. I feel sorry for the workers here. read more

Walked in at 10:35am and were seated at 10:39am which was so exciting because we were hungry! We started with the watermelon lemonade which was delicious! It was so refreshing!! Then we indulged on the biscuit beignets ... yeah these are worth it. I used the maple syrup while my boyfriend preferred to use the butter pecan sauce that comes with. For our meals I had the homestyle breakfast while my boyfriend had the country boy breakfast. We were both pleased with our options and the biscuits that came with. I visited at lunchtime on a Friday. I was greeted as I approached the restaurant podium and seated immediately. My waitress immediately took my drink order and gave me time to browse the menu. She was very helpful when I couldn't decide on a drink. I chose the iced latte. I ordered the Hashbrown casserole with sirloin tips. The wait for food was fairly short, waitress checked in with me a couple of times to see if I needed anything and would like water. Food was served hot and perfectly cooked. Serving size was large so I had leftovers to take home. I had enough leftovers for 2 more meals. I recommend you have a sweater or long sleeved shirt with you, the restaurant is very cool. This was the only sit down comfort food place within walking distance of where my camper was getting a new tire. It looks like every other Cracker Barrel I have been to. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. When my food arrived it included corn not green beans. I mentioned it to my server and she brought out green beans. I should have stayed quiet and been satisfied with the corn. The green beans were well past soggy and lacked any flavor. The chicken fried chicken was good as we're the mashed potatoes. A large part of the whole Cracker Barrel ambience experience is the damn fireplace during the colder season, especially around the holidays. The latest hire has a heavy hand on salt. I add salt to my food, but this was too much even for me. They've removed perhaps my most favorite menu item: southern fried chicken livers. Not everyone's cup of tea, but they did have a winner. My bf & I came to Cracker Barrel as we were staying at a hotel nearby in Kingman after spending our day at Grand Canyon West. We arrived late afternoon and ordered to-go in store. They have a store that sells candy, clothing, and other trinkets next to the restaurant. We decided not to dine-in after seeing the tables weren't really spaced far enough apart for our own comfort. The to-go order took about ~30 minutes to be ready, but prices were reasonable. We ordered the Country Fried Steak with Turnip Greens and Fried Okra, and the Southern Fried Chicken (4 pcs) with Mashed Potatoes & Brown Gravy and Dumplins. My favorites were the Turnip Greens and Mashed Potatoes & Brown Gravy. The country fried steak and fried chicken were okay, both were a little salty for my taste. I didn't really like the dumplins, and the fried okra was a little dry. Overall the food was just okay. While we were waiting in the store, there were a lot of other patrons didn't wear masks. Solid 3 stars! Wifey & I took a quick overnight trip to Sedona, AZ and found this handy Cracker Barrel on the drive along the way. Can you say breakfast stop?? Let's hit them feed bags!! The food was pretty typical of the Cracker Barrel, but the CFS could have been a little crisper as the bottom was sort of soggy compared to our local store. All portions are much smaller, which I get but come on! They had no spoons at the place either. One of the great things about cracker barrel is the consistency, and this visit did not disappoint. Upon entering, a friendly face greeted you and welcomed you in. Met with a variety of irrestible items for every member of the family, toys , clothing, gifts, and food items. After being seated promptly, our server, with pigtails, took our order, and was very helpful in helping make our decisions. My husband's catfish were perfect and my salad was very good. The biscuits were fluffy as they should be. While waiting for food we played the game that is always on every table, company wide, the attic find decorations in the restaurant area, are very nostalgic, perhaps you could see one of your long lost relatives. Some friends asked that I meet them at this Cracker Barrel, even though I told them that after being a long term customer, I no longer eat at this restaurant. As I sat with them, a customer brought a dog into the restaurant. Within 5 minutes a group brought another dog in, then a third quite filthy dog with another group. Once again, this is against the law (health code) as well as extremely rude and selfish of people as others have allergies and other issues with animals. None of these animals were identified as service animals. Cracker Barrel responds your complaint when posted on Yelp, then does absolutely nothing about it. We just had a Sunday lunch at this magical restaurant. First of all, there is so much to look at! The country decor is adorable. And the cute country store is so fun to go through. All kinds of old fashioned candies, soda pop, clothing, and so much more. I have to say that our waitress Jessica was amazing!! She was right on top of it, fast and friendly. We both ordered the fried chicken. And we both loved it. Nice tender and juicy boneless chicken breasts. Our side were excellent. Greens, macaroni and cheese,and coleslaw. And don't get me started on the biscuits with honey and butter!!
