    Cracker Barrel Buttermilk Biscuits

First of all there were about 25 people in the entire restaurant and about 10 waiters! We waited 50 minutes. The biscuits are usually super good! They were unbelievably burnt. The waiter was super kind though. I wish I could give this place less than 1 star but whatever.

No sausage and horrible smell. Bitter

Horrible. Ordered shrimp and grits to go. Watered down and bitter. Husband has chicken fingers, fies and slaw. He tore it up. I couldn't eat mine. So disappointed.

So it took 30-35 minutes to be seated but we were prepared for the wait, so not a big deal. We were ready to order our food when the waitress came to take our drink orders because we were fearful of a long wait. After an hour of waiting for breakfast food I asked the waitress what kind of time we were still looking at and she told me we were still four spots back on having our order made. This was clearly unacceptable and tables around us that were seated after us were getting their food. When our food finally arrived I began eating and chewed into a piece of plastic, from where a bag was cut and a corner of the bag ended up in my food. A waitress, not ours, came out and apologized and said we wouldn't get a bill for our food. Then a manager came out with a bill and said she took $18 off of our total (I have no idea where $18 came from, just a random number I suppose). Again this was unacceptable and after some conversation the manager decided to comp our bill. After being seated within the suggested time nothing was right with this experience. The only reason we ended up here is because Wilders Cafe was closed today.

What the menu shows vs what I received.

Eat here about 3 times a week. Great food and awesome wait staff. Highly recommended wait times can be long in evenings.

The service was swift and the music was enjoyable. On this particular day, we decided to order the food to go and enjoy each other's company at home with the puppy. We will be back as the whole experience unraveled quite nicely.

We had high hopes based on Eagle Louisville's stellar Yelp score. But we walked away disappointed…read morebecause of a major service lapse, curious food seasonings and discrepancies between menu descriptions and actual dishes. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Friday. We had a choice between sitting inside or being seated at a picnic table on the covered deck. We were assigned a high-top table in the dining area past the bar, where a few guys were watching a soccer match. The brine-soaked fried chicken is Eagle's specialty, so we ordered it. I thought the chicken was good,. So per the menu for the three-piece fried chicken meal, you can only order either all white meat or all dark meat. Interestingly, the two people at our table that ordered white meat still got a drumstick with their meat. The last I checked, drumsticks were considered dark meat. For an appetizer, we ordered the hush puppies. They had a nice crunchy texture but were very spicy hot. We also ordered the spoonbread. This was my favorite dish of the day. It was served warm, had a great texture and a light maple flavor. With our meals, we could get two sides. We requested the collard greens, green beans, fries, grits and mac & cheese. Only the mac & cheese was good. The collard greens were way salty and the green beans had odd and unexpected seasonings. Our dining companion was put out, and understandably so, that the menu said the grits came with white cheddar cheese. But instead, though the grits maybe had cheese, they were also loaded with loads of diced jalapeno. They were so over the top spicy, none of us could eat the grits. The fries were strongly seasoned with oregano. WTF? Our entrees came with biscuits. The biscuits were tasty, but unfortunately, because they contained too much shortening, fell apart when buttering them. And that leads up to the service lapse. After we received our check, our server completely disappeared. We waited a half hour for her to re-appear, gave up and asked another server to cash us out. He disappeared and we waited some more. Finally the red-headed server re-appeared and breezily explained she had been out on the deck the whole time. No apology or anything.

The owner stopped by our table to say hello. She is such a ray of sunshine! The food was delicious. I enjoyed everything i had. The jerk chicken sandwich, pasta salad, and the grits. I sampled my husband's meal as well. He got the sweet potato waffles. We were thinking that the sweet potato would be infused in the waffle, but we were surprised to find the sweet potato toppings on top of the waffle. It was so scrumptious. We can't wait to go back and try some other items on the menu.

We had the privilege of meeting Blondie and talking to her about some of the menu items. She was fun and lovely. My two favorites - the chicken salad croissant and pimento cheese with candied bacon and pepper jelly. My husband loved the buffalo cauliflower; however, I found it to be too spicy and one piece was enough. We also grabbed the cornbread appetizer, which wasn't a standout. The menu is full of brunch items served on the weekend. I'm ready to come back to enjoy the chicken and waffles, plus Jim's biscuits and gravy. While there I also sampled the red beans and rice (yum) and cornbread salad (double yum). Several lunch and dinner items plus cocktails and drinks. Everyone in your group should find it easy to find a choice. The decor is bright and fun. Service was top notch. Parking is easy. Come support and enjoy Norton Commons!
