Wow -- I'd never have thought my first, "First to review" would be a Cracker Barrel. What can I say? Cracker Barrel is the definitive country-cuisine chain restaurant. My associate and I were looking for a place for lunch, saw it, and he said he'd never been to a Cracker Barrel. Well, that cinched it, we had to go, because everyone should experience Cracker Barrel at least once. I wouldn't say that Cracker Barrel is the thing I miss most living out in California, but it ranks up there. I had the Chicken and Dumplings, with some coleslaw and fried okra, sweet tea to drink. My associate had one of their new campfire dishes that comes all wrapped up in foil. I recall seeing chicken and a cob of corn. I wasn't paying that much attention, as I was scarfing down mine. The service was up to the high levels I've come to expect from Cracker Barrel. Overall, right in line with my impression of every other Cracker Barrel I've been to: good, consistent food and service. read more

I normally do not really expect a lot from chain restaurants and do not really post a lot on them unless it is one I go to a lot or if it really needs a review. So we all know Cracker Barrel and know if you somewhat want southern food to come here. Well so I normally get the Chicken Fried Chicken with various sides. Lately the food has not been good going in. Temps are not what they should be. The staff is not really all too friendly and if you need a refill, you better expect to wait awhile. I love country food so I decided to try this place. I am now a fan! I got the chicken and dumplings. I have never had chicken and dumplings before so I did not know what to expect. I loved it. The chicken was tender and flavorful and I love the dumplings. Since I am from Hawaii and know of now where that makes chicken and dumplings I will have to learn how to make it myself. I got the meal with 2 sides, I got the mustard greens and green beans. The mustard greens were awesome! I love collard greens and have never had mustard greens before, now I am not sure which I like better. The meal also comes with 2 biscuits. Those were some DAMN good biscuits! Cracker Barrel Old Country Store - Southern Near Me - Madison, Alabama

Went to the Cracker Barrel in Madison AL to pick up food Sunday and the store had blue line showing where to go and also blue lines showing 6ft distance for the line. I am a high risk for the Coronavirus and was trying to be as careful as I could. A young couple came up right behind us ignoring the 6 ft line another young guy came up on the other side of us ignoring the lines showing the way to go and the 6 ft distance. I thought the cashier should have told them to obey the lines for the safety of customers, I also thought the cashier should have been wearing a mask. I won't be going back to this store during this pandemic. Cracker Barrel should think more of their customers than this and try to keep them safe. read more

The look was your typically Cracker Barrel. It's the end of September so their fall inventory has made it's appearance and it's always wonderful to look at. We didn't have to wait for a table and were seated immediately. Our server, Teresa, was very friendly and attentive in taking our order and warming up our coffee. I ordered the roast beef dinner and my husband had the chicken fried chicken. Both were delicious! The gravy on the roast beef had a slight jelly consistency which was a bit off-putting. I suppose if that was my only complaint all is good in the world! read more

I love this Cracker Barrell. it is the best in Madison,Al. It is so clean and the waiters/waitresses are so nice and informitive. I recommend this place for anybody that is hungry and is in or around the Madison area. And trust me it's worth the wait. read more

Let me start by saying I love Cracker Barrel. However, the one here in Madison has a problem with their service. When you are seated a server should be at your table in 2-4 minutes to at least get your drink order. Sitting and witnessing several tables waiting a long time is unacceptable. Again I love the food but will not be back if they do not work on their service. read more

I've been patronizing this location since I fist moved to Madison almost 10 years ago. For most of that time it was a great pick for a hearty breakfast or a nice "comfort food" dinner. The last year or so, however, it seems like the quality of the food has really dropped. The last half dozen times I was here to eat I left disappointed. Tonight was probably my last visit to this location. There are too many other places to go for good breakfast and dinner these days. read more

We go here at least 1-2 times a month for breakfast as we love it! With an 18 month old, quick service is a must as they get antsy. We always have great prompt service with delicious food! The staff is always really sweet (except there's one guy there that has no personality.. we've had him twice & he acts like he hates his life). We love shopping around afterwards. I called in a simple to go order, pancakes and hash brown casserole, and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. After arriving there around the 10 minute mark and running in to get it, it's not ready. Not only is it not ready, but I then wait close to fifteen minutes. I had left my sick child in the car, car running of course. After asking to speak with a manager, Ken was the one on duty, he explains they're bagging it up. I told him I needed a refund that the point of calling in an order is for it to be ready and I have now waited more time there there they said it would take to begin with. He looks for my ticket, apparently that's gotten in the back and then does a refund and hands me the receipt. DOES NOT APOLOGIZE, DOES NOT TRY TO GET MY FOOD OUT, horrible managerial skills. My family and I used to frequent this place often, but it seems to be going down hill unfortunately. read more

I'm normally ambivalent about Cracker Barrels, but this one was excellent! I had the country boy breakfast and the steak that came out with this meal was better than lots I've had at steak restaurants in this area. Granted, since I'm neither a farmer nor an athlete I can't eat this often, but every once in a while it's good to know you have this option available. Our waitress was good and the atmosphere was more or less like any other Cracker Barrel, but the food was far better than any other I've been to. read more

By far the best Cracker Barrel we've ever been to. The biscuits (which at other locations were always just okay to me) were the best; delicious, buttery, warm and flaky. We are a family of four and we all agreed. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. The roast beef was tender, the mashed potatoes creamy, the pancakes perfectly cooked, etc. Our server, Shanice, was friendly and just great. She attended to our every need without us even asking; extra napkins, refills, boxes. (A shoutout to Jasmin - the cook in charge of the biscuits). We will be back! read more

Ok I haven't been to a cracker barrel since I was a teenager and the food you cant go wrong ....hands down its just like grandma's cooking....but when i went to the men's restroom....i gagged and nearly threw up .....it smelled like the worst dumpster you could ever walk by....therefore i totally lost my appetite. I frequent this location at least twice a month. I dine in and I carryout. When I carryout I usually place the order in person. What I experience during my last visit was not up to par. After advising the host that I wanted to order a carryout he refused to seat me at a table, offering to provide a chair for me instead. I explained to him that I am always seated at a table when I come in and that I prefer to be seated at a table. He refused to seat me, so I requested to speak to a manager. I explained my experience to the manager. The manager repeatedly stated that she did not understand and took no action to seat me. It is unfortunate that something as simple as this has left a sour taste in my mouth. I am dissatisfied with the service I received and I am no longer a loyal customer. Stay away. Where do I start ? Health grade 86. WE arrived at 6:30 PM on a Thursday night. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait, so I said OK. 25 minutes later I checked and was told there would be a 30 MINUTE longer wait. I showed my displeasure with the hostess and it was obvious that she could care less. Once we did get in I counted 16 tables that were empty. My wife ordered a dinner plate while I ordered a breakfast plate. My wifes creamed potatoes were so dry she could not eat them, My eggs were cold as was my potato casserole , My bacon was almost rare. I ate the eggs and potatoes but sent the bacon back. I guess I pissed the cook off because when I finally got more bacon it was burnt not just crips but burnt. I could not eat it either. Our waiter Luther tried very hard but he must have been new since I had to tell him what all came with My meal. We used to love Cracker Barrel but they seem to all have gone down. We will NEVER return to this restaurant which is only 3 miles from my house. read more

We all checked the meal before we left and she said this tray is your turkey and dressing and it ended up being just dressing. I eat Cracker Barrel breakfast often at various Cracker Barrels. The Madison, AL store has some work to do to get up to par. Dirty silverware is understandable, but ignoring that it is dirty and wrapping it with a napkin for a place setting is inexcusable. During my visit I received two dirty sets of silverware and my plate had a hair on it. read more

Grand Slam, is a souvenir shop in Time Square. We had been to this store 2 years ago to get our gifts for family & friends, we found it great. Not so now. It now is just to full of stuff. It is 3 levels squashed in, so hard to move around, The clothing no longer is of good quality like it was. It is cheap crap. It is just to hard to look around with so much stuff & so many people. If you look around there are so many other souvenir shops that are better & prices are the same. Very disappointed with this shop now. read more

We come here often and usually have a good experience. Today, not so much. Of the four of us, one breakfast meal was served cold. My biggest complaint was the fruit bowl. For $2.89 I was served one strawberry cut in half and two pineapple chunks. I know fruit can be spendy, but this was ridiculous! When I inquired about this I was told that is the CB fruit bowl. Upon checkout the cashier was more interested in peddling the clearance merchandise than our experience...sad...customer service no longer exists. read more

We have always loved Cracker Barrel. It has always been excellent and consistent except for lately. We have eaten there twice lately and were very disappointed on both occasions. The service is wonderful as usual but the food quality has really gone down hill. The country fried steak tastes frozen and is now a round patty and has a weird texture. The sides are bland not flavorful like usual. The chicken and dumplings not up to parr either the chicken is bland with a previously frozen texture. The cornbread and biscuits are pretty good still. The fried okra tasted like they were cooked in old rancid cooking oil. Disappointing. It's like they are under new ownership or management or something that has resorted to really cutting corners as far as food quality. Please go back to the way you used to do it before your business starts going down hill too. read more

Ordered eggs over medium, the yolk was well done. Ordered hash browns, they came out cold. The blueberries were gloves in the center the pancake. Husbands fried shrimp had so much breaking on it you couldn't see or taste the shrimp. Had to ask for every condiment. The waitress who has been working there for three years acted like it was her first day. Ordered milk for the kids, had to ask for it. This was by far the worst Cracker Barrel we've ever been to. I guess it's still open because it's right off the interstate and you've got that or ruby Tuesday. Should have chosen to eat there instead. I ate at Cracker Barrel multiple times on the road. This time hubby and I visited Madison location and were disappointed. We both ordered chicken and dumplings plate but I got a plate of dumplings with ONE piece of chicken in it. He got 3 and shared 1 with me. Mashed potatoes did not have their regular taste either. The last several times we've been they have messed up our orders, been completely rude and even dumped tea on our 11 year old without so much as an apology. The waiter did not check back with us until we were done. My hash brown cassarole was cold and tasteless. He offered to exchange it but it was not sincere. The service is always good here, but I can't say the same for the food. Last weekend, I ordered the Fresh Start Sampler and was expecting a nice warm blueberry muffin, but it came out cold.
