Never disappointed with Cracker Barrel! Currently running a special on southern dishes. I ordered a chicken benedict which comes with a cheese toping. I asked if I could substitute the cheese sauce for a country gravy, but the answer was the store owners don't allow this type of substitute. I was not asking to reconstruct the dish, just the toping. My wife suggested a compromise, ask for the cheese toping on the side and order a side of country gravy. Let me tell you, my idea of country gravy should be put on the menu! It just makes sense, biscuits topped with a fried chicken patty, and over easy eggs?!! What would you put on it? I would smother it with country gravy! Guys & Gals -- The Fam and I have been coming to Cracker Barrel for years and has remained a staple for our home cooking needs when we are too lazy to cook. While some of their Daily Specials are tasty (particularly the Saturday Chicken & Rice and the Wednesday Broccoli Cheddar Chicken), I have never been impressed with their seasonal specials...until now! On our most recent visit for breakfast, the wife and I were so intrigued by their Spring Seasonals, we couldn't decide what to get, so we end up going halfsies on the Fried Chicken Benedict Southern Bowl and the Ham N' Maple Bacon Southern Bowl, and both were outstanding! The savory pimento cheese sauce that covers the benedict in place of the standard hollandaise was a fantastic change of pace and added an awesome flash of flavor to what could have been a fairly bland dish. It comes with Sweet Pepper n' Red Skin Hash which has now supplanted the Hash Brown Casserole as my go-to side for breakfast -- the potatoes were fully cooked but not mushy, and the mix of the peppers and onions were a perfect complement without overpowering the rest of the hash. As good as that was, the Ham N' Maple Bacon Southern Bowl was even better! The Maple Onion Jam that covers the mix of Maple Pepper Bacon, Hickory-Smoked Country Ham, and Sugar Cured Ham mix was life-changing (I even asked the server if they sold it in the Country Store); my only complaint was that I wish that there was more of it so I could spread it into the Sweet Pepper n' Red Skin Hash. The balance of sweet from the jam and the saltiness of the country ham was super-tasty without being overpowering on either side. My only detractor from 5 Stars was portion size, as both dishes were somewhat on the small side. The biscuits helped as a filler, but I'd rather have more protein than starch...and let's be honest, it tastes better, too. read more

This location has been lacking the past few times we have been there . I think the last time was worse but I didn't leave a review . Today there were three adults and one teenager . The total was $86.36. Our server was mostly good . He did not return after the food was delivered though to ask how everything was . I had to yell at him as he was at another table that we needed boxes . It took forever for the food and he thanked us for our patience . I was looking forward to the shrimp . It used to be big and very good . Cooked just right . It was hard and cold . Same with the fries . I think the menu said it came with hush puppies . None were there . Just one little thing that resembled fried okra? Husband's fish was not good and looked nothing like the picture in the menu Fried apples looked cold though I didn't eat them until the end so they would not have been hot anyway. Biscuits were hot and amazing . We waited a long time for them too. We finally went to pay and the cashier asked if everything was ok . I told her about the shrimp . And that the server was good and the biscuits were too . She just said I'm sorry . Why did she ask ? We asked for a bag for our boxes and we're doing that when she asked the man behind us how everything was . He said something like ok I guess or well, ok . She then asked him if he was a rewards member . Rewards member ? She didn't ask me that . Was it because I told her what was wrong ? He obviously wasn't real happy either but didn't elaborate. The fact that we waited so long for the food and someone told us it was almost ready because most of it was in the window tells me it came out at different times . The commercial made me do it. There are new commercials about the new fried chicken and it looked so good on tv. What was I thinking? Between the disappointing fried chicken and terrible service, I don't know why I will come back. The fried chicken looked pretty but there was NO CRUNCH. None at all. Not even around the edges. It was soggy. Hubby had a different kind of fried chicken with his Grandpa's country fried and his also wasn't crunchy. A southern cookin restaurant that can't cook southern ‍ The server was awful. They weren't busy. We normally can't park so don't come. They had lots of spots in the lot and seated us right away. Plenty of empty tables around us. We waited 10 mins for her to tell us she would be right there. Another 10 minutes before she came back. We ordered. I asked how she was and she was all flustered and said "busy". Never the excuse I am looking for as a patron. My salad didn't come. Biscuits didn't come. When we ordered my hubby asked for hot sauce. Out come some food. No hot sauce. She said "you already got your salad, right?" No. She said she asked and someone told her they brought it out. I said I didn't get any salad. She brought it back with the hot sauce. Hubby asked for rolls. She got annoyed. So he did t. Other asking for the missing grits and gravy he was supposed to get with his meal. Then she said she would get refills. Went to Cracker Barrel this morning after a nice run. We got there are 8:30ish am. They were not busy yet and were sat right away. The waitress was prompt coming to check on us and get our drink orders. The food took a tad longer than I would have thought being they were not busy. But the food was everything we expected. I really loved my pancakes as they had the crunchy edges that I love on a pancake. The waitress was great in not checking on us to much once we got our food. Today is my mom's 83rd birthday and she of course chose Cracker Barrel. We got there at 2 and even though I realize this is not their fault there was no available handicap parking and it was pouring down rain. When we got in, we were seated right away but my sister made the comment that the lady that seated us looked as if her face would crack if she smiled. Our waiter was a really nice guy and funny! He was the best thing about his meal. My sister ordered Diet Dr. Pepper and when it came it was flat. She asked for a Diet Coke instead. When it came it was flat. She finally ordered an ice tea. As we were waiting for our meal, they brought out biscuits (see picture). These biscuits were like rocks! When our meal came, we were told that two of the sides we ordered were not available. My sister and I are on a special diet and ordered the food we knew would fit in the right parameters. There was nothing else. The food was pretty good but my mom's hush puppies were a little burnt. When the waiter brought the check we were still charged full price even though they were the ones that did not have the food we ordered. It was quite a disappointing meal. When I got tot he register, I asked to see the manager. When I shared our experience, he seemed frustrated with me and said that they were doing the best they could after Thanksgiving and would not have food delivered until Monday. This is Saturday! I politely said I was sorry but that their lack of food should not be my problem, it is theirs. He also did not believe me about the biscuits so I asked him to please go look at them since they were still on the table. He said he would but I watched and he never did. He did take the bill and I would like to say we got a free meal but it was a disappointing "free" meal. There were very few pleasant and smiling employees there. So when we got inside and we got her drinks, everything was nice we thought it was gonna be a chill day, but turns out that when we ordered our food, we waited an hour and 15 minutes for it to come out and the food wasn't that good? It was really cold or lukewarm. We wanted it to be hot. It just wasn't the only part of the best part of the breakfast that my family said that was the best part was the bacon and I've got the steak and I got dumplings and broccoli as a side and the dumplings were really cold. They were cold like cold setting on water. They really weren't that good so I don't recommend coming on Mother's Day but maybe other days but they just weren't good today. He took our drink & food orders, the drinks came out as usual but the food took about 30 minutes to come out, my mashed potatoes were cold so I told him that food is cold, he took my plate, bought back mashed potatoes but not my plate so I wound eating off a napkin. Cracker Barrel is what it is! Were else can you shop for old time things while you wait to be seated. They have a great breakfast! I can't speak to their lunch and this was my first visit for dinner. The hash brown casserole is my favorite and you can order it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I ordered a sirloin and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. It was actually a good steak! Of course I got the hash brown casserole. The coleslaw was good. The turnip greens, no thanks! They were not good. They were bland and certainly not fresh. All in all, I had a good dinner! I recently went here this past Sunday, and I got their Homestyle Chicken dish, which is two boneless chicken breasts hand-dipped in fresh buttermilk, breaded and deep-fried to a golden brown. Served with choice of two vegetables. It was delicious. If I go here for breakfast, I usually get the Sunrise Sampler, which is two eggs cooked to order with Grits, Sawmill Gravy and Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits along with real Butter and the best Preserves, Jam n' Apple Butter available. Served with Fried Apples, Hashbrown Casserole and a sampling of Smoked Sausage, Country Ham and Thick-Sliced Bacon. Whether you decide to get breakfast or lunch/dinner, you can't go wrong either way! Always cold and/or chewy. Delivery orders have never been ready when driver arrives to pick them up. They have to wait around. Then it still manages to be cold/luke-warm by the time I get it. I really like Cracker Barrel's in general, but this one is off the table for me, I will not be returning. Even the pancakes were just okay. To the negative: long lines, slow service, bathrooms that smell like pee, sticky floors. To the positive: great prices, tasty home-cooked dinner and lots and lots to browse in the country store. If you're looking for a big American breakfast and variations on that theme, this is the place. Place has healthier fare but more so comfort food. I did pancakes (fried like mom's not griddled) eggs and bacon. Yeah blew the healthy eating out of the water but it filled the belly and made me happy. Service was quick and the waitress was attentive and friendly (finding a trend in the South). She got all the food for a party of 10 right and smiled through it all. SHE EARNED HER TIP :-) Never being in. I give up. I've ordered take out from this location 3 times and EVERY TIME, repeat EVERY TIME, they have screwed up the order. This time, multiple mistakes, including, but not limited to taking an order for one item and then insisting they didn't offer it while substituting another entre; literally one employee telling me they did not have two items, while another one had just taken the order; and when they finally brought the order out, they had put ice cream in the same bag with hot foods. When I confronted the manager about that he said he would get a replacement for my ice cream "soup" (my terminology). He never returned. Oh, can't forget the rude server who took the order initially. This Cracker Barrel is so much different than the one in GA. My food was prepared faster than expected and was completely accurate. The chicken and dumplings weren't full of gristle either which was a huge plus. The only reason that I didn't give them 5 starts is because the okra wasn't crispy. This was my first time eating here, and I've wanted to for so long. My parents treated me one night while I was visiting them, and was very pleased with everything. The food is so good and reasonably priced I was in awe. They give you a full meal, entree with 3 sides I believe, all very filling and for less than a large size meal at Mickey D's. Only thing I can complain about is that the cornbread was a little hard, but other than that I loved it. Their hot chocolate was very good too. Also, I love the little store attached. It was around Christmas time so that was the theme that month and they had Santa statues (white and black ) Christmas albums, knick knacks, clothing etc. It's kind of like a country general store.
