It's been so long since I've been here and it was close to where my boyfriend and I had stayed at for a wedding. We went here for some breakfast and the wait was a half hour, the place was super busy! We had agreed to wait, and it was nice to have rocking chairs outside. We kept busy playing checkers until our name was called. We ended up having to wait only 15 minutes which was great! We got seated and our server Elena came by after a little over 5 minutes to greet us and get our drink order. I got the strawberry lemonade which was bottomless refills, but I couldn't handle the sweetness of the drink. I did appreciate the little chunks of strawberries though! When we got our drinks, we were ready to place our order. I ordered the Sunrise Sampler because it came with the sausage, ham, and bacon. Now this is where I have to generously give 3/5 stars. I didn't realize my ham could be sweet or salty. And so when Elena asked me if I wanted sweet or salty ham, I simply asked my boyfriend which one I should pick. So Elena interjected and stated something along the lines of, "if you want sweet, you pick the sweet ham. If you want salty ham, pick salty." My boyfriend and I were pretty much done with her after she presented her condescending attitude. We got our food which thankfully was amazing and completely enjoyed the soft & warm biscuits, fried apples, and the hash brown casserole...SO GOOD!! My boyfriend really enjoyed his country fried chicken from his meal as well. After Elena finally checked in on our food, she appeared to notice I was upset and attempted to be kinder asking if I wanted a refill on my drink or even further offering me different drinks to try which I just declined. I absolutely love Cracker Barrel! After a long week, it is the perfect place to get comfort food. Although the food options here may not be the healthiest, they are nevertheless delicious. The great thing about Cracker Barrel is that you can order Breakfast anytime of the day. Conversely, there are tons of different menu items for dinner - everything ranging from the classic Chicken Fried Chicken or Chicken Fried Steak through the Country Fried Shrimp. Likewise, Cracker Barrel has several seasonal specials; most notably the Pumpkin Pancakes. Unfortunately, this specific location lacks many of the seasonal offerings (according to the staff, they are not one of the many "select locations" that get the special items). In addition to the great food, the retail store is also a unique aspect to this restaurant. It's full of seasonal decor, candy, children's toys/gifts, and clothing. There are tons of classic/limited edition candies that are hard to find elsewhere. It's the perfect time to shop when you're waiting for a table or wanting to walk off your food after a big meal. We were looking forward to some good country fried steak and theirs looked like a processed frozen patty. He went in to serve another table with drinks and still did not bring his drink. Do not count on catering from here. We ordered a meal for ten & were shorted on the main entree--not good when you have company for dinner. Catered orders used to be beautifully packaged in a box with handles that retained heat. We not only were shorted but got lukewarm food in a plastic bag. Cracker Barrel is just a great chain restaurant overall. I have been going here (not to this location in particular) since I was a kid and I absolutely love the store and all the candy and fun little toys they have like the choo-choo train whistle and the lightening bug house! Cracker Barrel for me is just a really nostalgic place and I thoroughly enjoy eating and shopping here with family and friends. This specific location is decent. The food is sometimes a hit and sometimes a miss in that you may go at a time where everything was just made fresh, or may get a side of cheesy hashbrown casserole or mac and cheese that has been sitting out awhile and is completely dried out. That's happened to me a few times at this location. The service is also pretty wishy washy. Sometimes I've had really great servers that are the sweetest people I've ever met and other times and I've had servers with no personality or customer service skills whatsoever. But...the prices are great, the menu items are delicious, and the store is awesome. My favorite is the country vegetable plate! You can get four sides so I normally get the mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, cheesy hashbrown casserole, and cinnamon apples. Talk about a carb overload! read more

First we had to deal with Paulette, our curt and ungracious waitress. She had no time to smile or show some warmth. I asked for lemonade and she says "lemonade, sure?" Yes, sure. OMG. She wasn't busy as she wandered slowly or peered around the kitchen wall at us. I was dumbfounded by our service. The food was just OK. Our sawmill gravy was cold and gloppy. The apple butter was so cold that it chilled any biscuit or muffin we put it on. And the cheesy hash browns were so dry that we didn't eat them. Plus at a nearby table were four off duty employees eating and drinking. They were so loud that we couldn't hear our own conversation. We'll find a different Cracker Barrel next time. read more

This was the LAST time I ever eat here! After being inundated with ads for their chicken pot pie, we went Labor Day evening....big ad for the pot pie by the front door too. Waited 25 minutes to be seated and went to order. We were told by our server Jessica that they might be out, so she went to check, on her way out of the kitchen, I saw her standing there chatting with someone for a few minutes before she came to the table to tell us they were out and gave us our drinks. When we told her we had to decide if we were going to stay, she said "Oh, it's okay if you leave, I won't charge you for the drinks". ZEREO attempt to get us to stay. We ordered something else which came out barely warm, but at that point I was too hungry and mad to say anything. Halfway through she dropped off the check, no attempt to ask about desert, nothing. Talking to the manager Edwin did not help either, he offered to buy us a meal next time we came back...yeah, NOT HAPPENING. Then, the cashier double billed us, and we had to wait AGAIN to get that sorted out...no apology from Edwin, nothing. We are DONE here!!! Sadly this is a mixed review. My lunch was decent but the dessert was not at all. I've always loved the Friday cod but the smaller pieces occasionally are over cooked. Dumplings are always delicious and the carrots too. Where everything fell apart was the coca-cola cake. The cake used to be quite moist with a thick rich fudgy icing. I don't know if I got a bad one or if the cake has been changed but the icing was a very thin layer and very dry. And the cake just falls apart as you put your fork thru it. When you first arrive if you want to you can sit out front in one of the rocking chairs and play checkers. The restaurant if full of knick knacks to look at and some you can even buy. The food is good. It didn't blow me away or anything but it was edible. There was nothing special about the pancakes and bacon. I could have done the same thing at home. Our main purpose was to return a item. Glad we decided to stay for brunch. My better half decided on the Fresh Start Sampler with a Latte, while I had the Country Morning breakfast while acquiring her meat. What a satisfying meal. My grits were perfect, not runny, but creamy. My eggs, over easy, were properly cooked and delicious. Virginia gave me a taste of her granola. Wow! Is that ever tasty all by itself. Their breakfast is delicious and their dinner items fantastic. I like the retail part of the restaurant. You can get anything from candy, sodas, candles, toys, knick knacks and outfits. This is the first time I've been to a Cracker Barrel in quite some time. We went past the gift shop which had some beautiful items on display. My friends & I did not enjoy our experience on the restaurant side. We went & met the hostess right away which she seemed very displeased or upset to have us there. We felt very unwelcome by the way she presented herself. She behaved like this the rest of the time we saw her. Next we meet our waitress who seemed very attentive & swift right off the bat. We ordered biscuits twice from this waitress including our drinks & main entrees/dessert. Everything else came through from a different runner except the biscuits. Not only that but we did NOT see our assigned waitress for the rest of our visit there. No one even came to our table to check up on us & see how our food was. It took 10-15 minutes for anybody to check up on us & then a manager or lead came by to check up on us & we told him about our dilemma & then he saved the day for us. Thankfully everything panned out right & we got the stuff that was ordered. I wish they would have communicated with us a little bit better on what happened with our waitress because we were waiting for quite a bit with empty plates or drink glasses. I would be definitely giving this location a 1-2 star rating if the gift-shop wasn't there or if management didn't try to help us. read more

My Mom loves the fish fry Friday's so we ventured there today, two quarantined cuties ready to get our eat on! Boy, was it worth the 20 minute drive. Upon entering the store, I was greeted with a friendly person. The person who stands behind the hostess station is always odd, as if they are mannequins or something. Not very helpful or pleasant. This happened last time too but it was three young ladies that time, this time it was a young man.) A server came out to take my order and he was friendly and patient. He brought my receipt right out and told me my order would be ready in 12 minutes. I set my phone timer and began browsing around the shop. SO many beautiful clothes for men, women and babies, home decor items, jewelry and lots of treats and snacks. Some from childhood like hubby bubba chewing gum. I picked up some pineapple cake batter cookies by toogoodgourmet and they were fantastic along with Cracker Barrel biscuit mix and peach cobbler in a jar. My order was ready in 11 minutes, fresh and hot. I devoured my shimp basket - about a dozen or so perfectly sized, deveined, well seasoned shrimp fried to perfection, hush puppies that were crispy outside and soft inside with bits of corn, steak fries hot, soft and seasoned perfectly; a fresh side salad, macaroni and cheese (I ordered this as an extra side because I'm greedy. hahaha), and a corn muffin. The corn muffin was a little hard but hey nobody's perfect. My mom also devoured her fish platter - the cod was light, flaky, hot, just the right amount of batter, delicious tarter sauce, steak fries, Cole slaw (not too mayonnaise-y as some restaurants do) and of the course the corn muffin that someone left in the oven a few minutes too long. Still tasty though. All in all we were full and happily satisfied with our meal and plan to return weekly. But wait, there's more! I ordered the fudge cake with a side of vanilla bean ice cream. Very fudge-y, decadent and delicious, just a little too sweet for me. I saved to eat on over a few days. A forkful here and there is perfect for me. I highly recommend Cracker Barrel! read more

By time toast arrives, the eggs are cold. Two times in a row. This final time was a totally wrong order. Ordered scrambled eggs, hash brown casserole and toast. No meat. 20 minutes later she delivers 2 sunny side eggs, bacon hashbrown and no toast. I sent it back. 20 minutes later they came back. The server rather rudely said "is this what you want". Every time I asked they said it would be another 20 minutes. I left without my food and without a refund. Told me I had to call their corporate office if I wanted my money back. Manager refused to come out and speak to the 30 angry people that were demanding him. Ridiculous! Just be honest - tell me you can't fulfill my order and refund my money. Visited the Cracker Barrel near us in Naperville, Illinois about a week ago. We hadn't been in a little while and were extremely surprised and disappointed in the menu changes. A number of 'classic plates' that have been on their menu for decades were now missing, and alcohol was added. There are less food items to choose from, and the portions were significantly smaller than all previous visits. Yet the cost was noticeably higher. I understand because of Covid, there are supply chain problems, food shortages, inflation- people can't get what they want- or even what they need- very easily anymore, or not at all. I would completely understand if certain menu items were not available in the short term, and I even expect prices to be higher. What I did not expect was so many changes to the 'classic' menu, how the food was made (I don't think I've ever had a subpar meal at Cracker Barrel in my life), the obviously smaller portions, the higher prices, and yes, for the first time, we even experienced poor service. Our order was taken, our food was dropped off, the check was dumped on our table, and that was it. IMHO, after seeing all the changes, I feel like Cracker Barrel has written their own death warrant. My husband and I will never return to any Cracker Barrel, anywhere. And I'm actually genuinely sad. This was a restaurant you could always count on, across the country, without fail. Arrived at Cracker Barrel on December 29 about 6:30. Had used the app and checked in on arrival. The last 2 times I have been to this location they have tried to seat me at the table that is about 20 feet from the checkin where everyone walks by. I declined and was seated elsewhere. The tables are on top of each other and I was seated next to a dog, of all things. The person seating us was obviously irritated. Our server was pleasant and did a fine job of keeping up with refills and such. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken with Mac n Cheese. It was missing the tomatoes completely. There was a hint of buffalo sauce on the chicken, which could have been cooked a bit longer. The mac n cheese had no buffalo sauce mixed in. There were quite a few dirty tables waiting to be cleaned, which could have been used for better seating choices. The best thing was the girl at the cash register was very pleasant! I have had better experiences in the past. What if I was allergic to dogs or someone in my party was? The dog should not have been seated 10 inches from me! read more

This is my place for pancakes. They make the perfect pancakes- soft and crunchy both and Since they are a chain you might think quality control will be difficult but it is at par to Starbucks. The only thing I order here is Pancake and they are always awesome. It informed me it would be a 45 minute wait so once I arrived I waited for the next instructions. I got a text telling me it was time to check in so we went to the hostess desk thinking we'd be seated.. but she told us she'd call once our table was ready. By this time I had been waiting 30minutes so that's fine. After we checked in we waited in the car for another 20. I went from hungry to hangry at this point so we went to ask the status of the table and we were told another 15minutes but another 25 minutes passed and we still heard nothing. I understand when it's busy it's busy but this was ridiculous and we shouldn't be informed of a specific wait time if it wasn't accurate. Love this place because they have all sorts of options on breakfasts lunches and dinners. Traditional meals to old fashioned style comfort foods. If you are from the South, you'll love their turnip greens and fried Okra. Their traditional meatloaf and cheeseburgers are great. I love their Reuben platter with many options for a side dish. We being originally from the Midwest a favorite restaurant to visit is always Cracker barrel, and since we have been out on the west coast for the past 7 yearsI couldn't wait to share this iconic eatery with my family. This particular location left a lot to be desired when it came to the service. Our waitress was nice enough but she wasn't attentive at all, and it seemed when she passed our table she refused to make eye contact. We had to ask for refills each time, we had to ask for ketchup for our French fries cocktail sauce for our shrimp and tarter sauce for our fish. Every time another waitress would pass by and we would ask them for our server or for something they acted like they didn't want to be bothered or we were inconveniencing them. If this was the only cracker barrel I would never go back or recommend them to anyone. This is definitely a situation where the service poisons the food. So disappointed. read more
