Yesterday, my partner and I came to get dinner around 6:30pm at the Cracker Barrel in Pelham! They were pretty busy when we came in, but we were able to order pretty much right away-- my partner got a sweet tea, the country fried steak meal with fries and mac & cheese, and then I got the smoked grilled chicken with the fried apples and the mac & cheese. Both of our meals were pretty hot, fresh, and tasty. I highly recommend the fried apples. However, we didn't have the most attentive server ever (but he was quite friendly!!). Don't really blame him, seeing as they were kind of busy---but we never got the ketchup we asked for, or any napkins. Everything totaled out to be. Around $35, not including the tip, which I feel like is pretty reasonable, considering how much food we got. I feel as if this chain isn't necessarily known for the best food or the best service- they're mainly known for the cozy "southern hospitality" environment. They nail it on this end. It can be a little noisy, depending on how many people are there (+ loud country music blasting from every speaker), but particularly at night with the outdoor patio area---the vibes are very pleasant. It's a great place to hang out with friends or family. TLDR: Food was valid, service wasn't on their best game, but the environment is nice and nostalgic. read more

I came here with two friends on a Sunday afternoon. I had wanted to get breakfast and hot coffee but when I walked in there, it was so warm. I decided to get a Coke instead. Pam was our server. She was very attentive and kept our drinks filled. I got the grilled chicken fingers with hash brown casserole and the broccoli cheddar side. It was so delicious and we sat by the window, which was nice. Eventually, it cooled down, but when we first got there, it was like a sauna in there. The restaurant is dirty. The floor is slimy. Bathroom have overflowing trash and dirty toilet paper on the floor. My dinner was served per the picture below. Lukewarm, and looked like it had been dropped and scooped back up. Chair had food crumbs in it when I sat down. Haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years. Got an advertising email from them today and I had the not so bright idea to go and bring the family. I mean, the pictures looked good. On the positive end, the server was very nice....and very apologetic about how long everything took. I don't blame her one bit, she was not slacking. I guess they are just short staffed. They were actually pretty busy for a random Thursday night at around 70% full. We got country fried steak ( over fried, not that good), lemon trout (it's okay), strawberry pancakes (the best thing we ordered), steak (cooked right, but not good....), and kids cheeseburger (dry). Tried to order turkey and dressing but they ran out. Took about an hour to get our food and even then one of the sides didn't come with the dish. Anyway, I remembered C&B to be pretty good, but the real life experience today did not at all live up to my memories. Usually Cracker Barrel is a great experience. Today - it seemed like all the staff were confused. Seems maybe short staffed. I don't know. I was seated quickly. It took about 5 minutes for someone to greet me. I proceeded to order my drink and food at the same time. It seemed like it took forever for my food to come out and then my meal was slightly wrong. I couldn't decide what to eat for a late lunch and since I was close by, I decided I wanted chicken fried chicken at cracker barrel. I was seated right away in the second dining room where there were several solo diners like myself. There were more people in the first dining area. Service was fine once the server came by. Food took awhile to come out. Two pretty big pieces of chicken breasts heavily breaded and fried. Not what I was expecting since the last time I ate chicken fried chicken it was a flatter piece of meat. I thought they were fried chicken pieces like what I'd get from Publix! The white gravy was hot and tasty after I added salt and pepper to it. The corn and green beans I had on the side tasted like they came out of a can. Well, I can only blame myself for ordering sides that obviously could have come straight out of a can. The buttermilk biscuits were hard and small. The apple butter I requested to go with the biscuits were ok (50 cents extra!) The entire dining experience wasn't enjoyable. The food wasn't great, the atmosphere of the restaurant was slow and depressing. I used to love eating here because it always had the pancakes and eggs I enjoyed once in a while. Maybe that's what I need to only eat here. But I'm not sure I can deal with the depressing atmosphere and so-so food for about $20 again. read more

This place was close by our hotel, and we only had an hour for breakfast. Our server was nice and friendly. The cleanliness of the place was ok. The food was ok, edible, it wasn't great. I ordered eggs and sausage with some biscuits and gravy. My friend ordered the French toast, she really liked it. I probably wouldn't choose to come again. I'm sure there are better breakfast places elsewhere. I think I've would have been fine with McDonald's breakfast, and it wouldn't cost me as much. read more

I recently went to Cracker Barrel because I have not been in a couple years and wanted to give it another try. Overall, it is a great spot if you are craving comfort food. It has a cozy atmosphere but a few things could be improved. The ambiance is one of the highlights! It has a country charm with rustic decor, and a cute little store upfront. The vibe is warm and cozy, though at times it can get loud and crowded. The service was pretty good and they were very polite, and made sure we had everything we needed. However, there were times where it took a bit longer to get refills or check ins, but they were also busy. The restaurant could also have been a little bit cleaner but nothing too crazy. The food was pretty good, felt comforting. The french toast was nice and warm, the flavor was the perfect amount of sweetness. They have powdered sugar on top and it added a great touch, the portions were also generous. Cracker Barrel isn't not usually the first place that comes to mind when I am hungry but my experience was just as good as I remember! read more

This was my first time trying Cracker Barrel. I had always heard about it and wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. It was extremely busy and a bit noisey. The waitress was nice. However, the large crowd did mean we had to wait a good bit. Although I can get past that, the food was not what I expected. I felt it was pretty bland for my liking. I got the French toast and it mostly tasted like egg. If you drench it in some syrup, it helps. However, I don't think I'd try that again. I got to taste some of the pancakes and I wasn't a huge fan either. I think the only thing I really enjoyed was looking through the souvenir shop. It was very different but nice to walk through after your meal. I don't think I plan on coming back but it was nice to try something new. read more

We have been eating at the Pelham Cracker Barrel for years! We have had bad food served to us the last few times! Cracker Barrel used to have great food! We are finished eating there forever. I will list the items that we are up very disappointed with ; 1. Eggs- No Cook at this location can cook eggs that are over easy! The Never get them right and they are always well done! 2. Steak- First the Steaks are not as listed(New York Strip) They are not cooked Medium and they are always overcooked and they are probably Round Steak! 3. Grits or Hash Browns are always COLD! 4. What could improve?? EVERYTHING Went into Pelham Cracker Barrel at 5:45 pm, and they were out of biscuits, out of 75% of their vegetables, and some entrees. They said it would be 45min to an hour before anything was done. We complained and the waitress said the manager made them throw all of the food out. I told her her manager was a failure. The hostess wished me a good night as we walked out so I told her that is hard to do when you can't get served. Avoid it all cost. Order food at 5:52. The food finally came out at 6:50 after multiple time asking. They did not even bring all the food to the table. Said would right back with it. Never came after 20 minutes. Notice other table where waiting and never got there food. One table got up and left. We should have done the same thing. I have ordered the Thanksgiving Heat N' Serve Family Dinner from Cracker Barrel for my family over the last five years and have been more than pleased each time. Affordable at $79.99, with ample servings and portions. That changed this year when they jacked the price up to $99.99 and shrunk the size of the meal. The turkey breast was the same, but all the sides came in smaller containers. What used to feed five barely fed three of us. Insult to injury: When I picked my meal up, the box was leaking chicken broth and the order handler didn't even notice. I had to stop him from putting it into the back seat of my car. Terrible service. Expensive prices and shitty service didn't use to be the norm, folks. We are living in an upside down world. How can you possibly go wrong here? The menu has been updated a little to include some bar like appetizers. We were surprised they have also added some mixed beverages. But, when it comes down to it, their traditional menu can't be beat! Breakfast anytime! Delicious country food and some healthy options as well. I had the rainbow trout and was pleasantly surprised. My go to is always the fried apples. Absolutely delicious! Two others in my group had breakfast dishes and another got the sirloin. I was told the sirloin was very good and cooked exactly as ordered. If you have to wait for a table,which we did not, there are plenty of things to look at or you can just sit outside and rock or play checkers. We did have to wait a little longer than usual for our food, but it was well worth the wait. Family friendly, good food, shopping and all reasonably priced. WARNING: NO RV parking here! Great service by LEAH! Really good HOT food. I had the Hashbrown casserole Breakfast, HH (Hungry Hubby) ordered the "Old Timers" . I asked for sunny side up eggs (instead of menu noted scrambled). That did the trick ... I left with 1/4 in a 'to go' box with one of the Biscuts ... the first 3/4 left in my tummy ;) Man it was good! My 'old timer' (lol) finished his plate clean as well as 3 Biscuts! He said the coffee was hot and good. My only reason for 4 stars, instead of 5, was the way we found there was no RV parking!!! The signage was too low & too pale to be see in time!!! You cross over small road of oncoming traffic, pull in and BOOM your passenger yells 'oh c**p' ! 'There's a no rv parking sign!' We pulled in a bit so I could scout out the parking lot around the back of the building. Turned out behind the building there was space that I could park our 26' TT & crew cab truck perpendicular on about 9 lines parking spots. Erica (4 stars) was great to check us out to pay our bill and then HEAR me out about the lack of warning signage. Does any one else "feel a little more country" after eating at Crackle Barrel? I swear I have a country accent after I dine here. This is my "go-to" Crackle Barrel. It is conveniently located off of I-65 in Pelham. The food it pretty consistent, and the service is usually good. Generally this food isn't going to knock your socks off, but you may find a favorite dish that speaks to you. You can't go wrong with breakfast, and my favorite is the Smokehouse breakfast. For lunch/dinner, I love the Chicken and Dumplings. Where else can you get Chicken and Dumpling, corn bread, and fried okra? The country store is a great idea. Browsing the unique collection of merchandise is a fun way to kill time while waiting for a table. read more

I hate to start a review with a negative, but going in chronological order... Used the app to join the waitlist. When I hit submit, the app said the wait was 10-15 minutes. I immediately got the confirmation text which said 20-25 minutes. Fine, it'll take 15 to get there. When we tell the hostess we're there, she "checks us in," and tells us it will be at least 25 minutes. It was every bit of that for a total of more like 40 minutes from my in-app check-in. Even while we waited, and the wait increased to 45min-1 hr for both seating and take-out, the app continued to quote a 10-15 minute wait time. Needs to be some way to make it real-time and accurate. Got the Old Timer's breakfast. Everything about it was as good as usual except the eggs. The scrambled eggs weren't great; they were thinner/flatter than a pancake, and obviously just poured, left, and flipped once when cooked. Our waitress, Iris, was certainly pleasant and attentive. My mentor at work invited me to breakfast here this morning. This is my first time visiting a Cracker Barrel in years. When we entered, we were immediately greeted and sat at a table, which was a great way to start the breakfast experience. Upon being seated, someone came by and took our drink orders. She let us know our waitress would be with us shortly. Our waitress was friendly and came by to take our orders pretty quickly. I do not remember the name of what I got but it included eggs, bacon, and grits. It also came with "fixings", which was biscuits, gravy, and jam. The food and service were great! Service was great; the food lacked flavor. I chose a smoked chicken breast, green beans and mashed potatoes. The food lacked any seasoning and was extremely bland. When I spoke with the waitress, I was informed that the "smoked" associated with the chicken meant that it was cooked on the grill and not a smoky flavor. Every time we come here the food is always good and our server is always friendly. I always get the same thing pecan pancakes which is so good. If you have a nut allergy. I feel so sorry for you because they add the right amount of pecans. They had this new drink called strawberry lemonade. That drink was so good especially on a hot day in Alabama. read more

Cracker Barrel is never outstanding, but also never terrible. It is a reliable place to stop especially when travelling. Due to their extensive menu, there is always something for everyone. The store being attached to it is a huge perk because they have a lot of cinnamon flavored things which I enjoy and can't easily find elsewhere. The service last time we were there was top notch. They didn't have small plates clean so when they brought out the biscuits they also brought out extra napkins so we could use those instead. Weird, but definitely not the waiter's fault and I like that he thought ahead by bringing extra napkins. The food is decent. They now have fried chicken where you get half of a chicken AND 2 sides. One person ordered it and wound up sharing with the whole table. It came with: a breast, a leg, a thigh, a wing. It's a good value for your money, especially if everyone in your group likes different food. read more

Reliable and consistent. When I'm in the mood for comfort food, especially on a cold or rainy day, Cracker Barrel is always a fine choice. This location never disappoints; service is quick and efficient. No surprises here. Our most recent visit was on a cold winter night and there was a cozy fire burning in the fireplace which was a definite plus for the ambiance. I tend to lean toward breakfast (two pancakes, eggs, and sausage), but I am also a fan of the Thursday special (turkey and stuffing...or dressing, as they say in the South), as well as the meatloaf. One of my favorite things about dining here is the inevitable trip to the gift shop. I never buy anything, but I could spend an hour looking at all the unique and clever options. read more

I decided to come to Cracker Barrel for breakfast with my mother this morning around 10:30am. I had the Grandma's sampler - which includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sugar cured ham, sausage, and for my side I got hashbrown casserole. The service was good, and our waitress was kind. The environment was warm and welcoming. My favorite thing about the environment is the big fireplace that is usually lit at night. There were no covid precautions in place such as masks or social distancing. I didn't really observe anything myself showing that they participate in sustainability measures. Overall, it was a very good experience and I would come again for breakfast. read more
