Stopped for lunch with friends and two of us ordered the fried chicken. We weren't sitting but a few minutes and the manager came up and told us that it would be awhile for the chicken and offered us salad while we waited. We thanked him and assumed it would be a small side salad. Well, to our surprised it wasn't. He came over once or twice to check on us. Before we were finished our salads the chicken came out. Its a Cracker Barrel like all the rest in the chain. I like the apple dumpling dessert but the vegetables really need to be cooked in a different way. They are really slack about bringing cornbread and biscuits unless you demand them. The service can sometimes leave a lot to be desired here and seems disorganized at times. Came in on Father's Day and was seating fairly quickly in spite of the large crowd. This place has excellent customer service. My water glass never emptied, I was constantly asked if I needed anything and Dottie always served with a smile and a thank you. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely stop here again. My favorite breakfast spot. I've brought so many people there. I love it! Its just so far from New Orleans. Wish there was one in the city. Omg! I would be there every other morning. Servers are always nice and polite, the store and restaurant is clean. Pancakes and grits! Lawd! The syrup is just finger licking. My wife and I have eaten at CB stores all over the South. Every road trip from Mississippi we try to eat at these places because we are familiar with their menu and for the most part all have been consistently good and very reasonable. The Slidell store was the first one we went to years ago and it has been the best one overall for all these years. I don't know how they do it but it is always a good place to eat. You can get breakfast any time of day or night. They have the best sweet tea ever. Forgot to mention that if you like desserts they have very good fruit cobblers. read more

Cracker Barrel is just your basic standard country cooking, and SHOULD, in theory, be all good, but this one is not. The last few times I've gone here, it's been around brunch or so and each time, instead of getting french toast or pancakes (almost impossible to mess up), I opted for some lunch entree instead. The last time? HELL NO. We went there wanting pancakes, but got there RIGHT as they were about so serve lunch and me and my lady friend both got fried catfish instead. Catfish? More like.... fried cardboard. Bland as hell. The sides I got were not even worth remembering, because I only remember the buttered corn; or more accurately, the bowl of melted butter half filled with corn kernels. I remember thinking that I could've gotten better fried fish at a Brother's Gas station! And for less dough!!! Service was S L O W W W W W.......... SLOW. I realize there are a bunch of people that like to crowd every Cracker Barrel for their mediocre food and they all need something as soon as possible, but damn. The time before that, I think I got a pot roast or something. Coulda gone to the grocery and got a Marie Colander's pot pie and enjoyed that better. I'll stick to the breakfast. It's hard to mess up stuff like pancakes, french toast, sausage and bacon. BUT.... I'm sure this Cracker Barrel will find a way. read more

We will never come back to this Cracker Barrel. I've been to a lot of different locations all over the country and have never had such a crappy experience as I've had at this location. We had a party of 6.. only 3 of us got our food and it was 20 Minutes before the other 3 in our party got their food. So basically, 3 of us were done eating before the other 3 even received their food. We spoke to the manager who said he would take care of the meal because of the issues we had. Then the server came out after him and said "no he's only taking off one persons" then she tried to say that she can't have 6 peoples food out at the same time, ever and that she can only put 3 people on one ticket. This is the crackle barrel that has the worst service I've ever experienced. Do yourself a favor and go to a different location. I will never be back to this one.. that's for sure. read more

Most unique corporate restaurant that hones in on southern charm and comfort food that's made from scratch. CB is a good option for breakfast for me because there are a lot of healthy options that include fruit, veggies, yogurt, oatmeal, egg beaters, and even cheesy grits in a portion that's only 150 calories ( I LOVE it when calories are listed by the items on the menu). The Slidell location always gives us good service, which is another reason we keep coming back. read more

I love Cracker Barrels, and when traveling, I look for them, since I know that I can count on good food, good service, and a clean, inviting restaurant. And this one didn't let me down. They have a new berry pancake breakfast that includes blueberry pancakes topped with blackberries and raspberry syrup. They were so good! I've learned to ask for my bacon extra crispy since it comes pretty soggy if I don't ask. read more

On 15 Feb 19 I took my out of town friends to eat breakfast at Cracker Barrel. They were from the West coast and had never eaten at one. Of course it was the worst experience ever! I've eaten at many, many Cracker Barrel's across the US and like I said, Slidell, LA the worst. Very nice sweet waitress, but all she did was talk. Talked to everyone! You can't be a good waitress when you spend 10 minutes taking an order for two people sitting behind us. I ordered a meal with SOFT scrambled eggs! See the picture, I'm holding the eggs up with my fork. They are not soft scrambled. Of course our waitress didn't come back to our table until we were done eating because she was talking! She said, oh I'm sorry, I'll get you more. Not now I'm done eating! Then she said I'll take the ice tea off the bill, I'll ask the manager. She came back and said the manager said that's ok. He/she (manager) did not come to our table or anything. Other Cracker Barrel's I've been at the manager is on the floor during each meal. Oh CB, I missed you during our tenure in the pacific northwest. My husband and I ate here after a long day at the dmv, we were starving. We were greeted and seated and taken well care of. We had breakfast in the afternoon, it was delighful. I highly recommend the sunrise sampler- you truly get to taste a little of everything- eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, grits, biscuits and gravy, the apples and the spectacular hashbrown casserole. Can't beat 2 really full bellies with spectacular southern friendly service for $20. Everyone inside was friendly and chatty- the people at the table next to us were so pleasant as well. Horrible food tonight. My family and I left just as hungry as we were upon arrival. I ordered pecan crusted catfish that was only crusted sporadically. My son had pancakes with a huge glob of butter on top. My daughted had a handful of french fries that were burt. My husband... this was all his brilliant idea. After we had our dinner for about 15 minutes the waiter graciously brought us out an entire plate of cold biscuits and cornbread. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I felt that the workers intentionally served my family, of black people, food that was inedible. I do not believe that this restaurant serves the quality of food that we received to customers that are not considered a minority. 53$ seemingly donated to a company that admitted to discriminating against minorities both due to race and sexual orientation. Cracker Barrel is usually a safe bet when traveling. The food and service are fairly consistent throughout the country, or so I thought. My experience at this particular Cracker Barrel was disappointing. My husband and I arrived around dinnertime after a long day of traveling. We were seated immediately. The waiter came right out and took our order. I ordered biscuits and gravy and bacon. The bacon and gravy came out 15 minutes before the biscuits. It was weird. No one apologized or explained the mix up. However, I was given fresh gravy when the biscuits arrived. During the 15 minute wait for the rest of my meal, I could see the waiter wandering around the kitchen. I have no idea what he was doing back there. The restaurant wasn't overly busy on this particular night, and I don't think the waiter was new. The whole experience felt "off." Once my husband and I finished our dinner, we waited another 10-15 minutes for the check. There are tons of restaurants at this particular exit. I would recommend skipping this one and going elsewhere. read more
