I came in Wednesday morning and my server Jack was the best of the best. He knew everything like the back of his hand. He helped me pick the Pinot grigio and the kebab and the creole dressing is to die for. Davin the busser made sure any plate that was finished with was taken off our table with haste. This is one of my favorite restaurants, but the last visit wasn't one of the best. First, the good -- my steak was delicious and cooked to order, and the potatoes au gratin were good. We were a party of five. The Pompano fish was very thin and not flavorful -- very disappointing. The sauteed softshell crab was too salty and not very large and meaty (for the price). But my biggest criticism isn't about the food. Their staff is obviously trained to work as a team, which is great. But at some point, less is more, and I will explain why. I enjoy having a fairly calm dinner. The staff, in trying to do something good, crossed the line of what added to the experience. They were overly attentive to the point that it felt frenzied. It felt like I dined with a swarm of bees flying around my table. The worst part for me was that, as the last person finishing dinner, I was trying to eat my steak while multiple people were frantically grabbing everyone else's empty plates, bread plates, and silverware. They were reaching over the table grabbing things as I was still eating. While I do appreciate good service, this was overboard and detracted from my experience. I think it would be best if they would allow everyone to finish eating before removing everything from the table. I felt rushed, and I don't feel like eating an expensive meal while the entire table is being bussed. I hope they can tone this down. read more

This wasn't our first time at 527 so we know the food is amazing! This visit did not disappoint. We started off having a drink at the bar while waiting for our table - I had the Italian Paloma and my husband had the new fashion, both drinks were amazing. While having drinks we realized it was past our reservation time so we went up front to check on our table, and come to find out our table was ready (I believe they forgot about us, but no biggie). Our waiter was great and attentive. We ordered our favorite appetizer, oyster Pablo & it was just as good as always. I highly recommend! We ordered one of the specials, surf and turf which was an 8oz filet and lobster. It was cooked to perfection and was amazing. We had creamed spinach for a side, which is always great. I'm glad to say this restaurant earned 5 stars easily this trip. Ribeye was very good. Cooked perfectly. The sweet potato casserole was delicious!! And my dinning companions really liked 2 of the fish dishes. The crab cakes and cheese grits appetizer was really nice, and the drinks were mixed to our liking. Our Server was friendly and helpful, always there when we needed her. Always with a smile. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location itself was comfortable and set a nice mood for our meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only thing I was unhappy with was the take away packing. The young man who packed my steak up literally folded my ribeye in half, to fit in a small container. I'd never seen this in my life (and hope to never see it again). I hope training will be provided for the people who pack take away containers in the future. This was the only bad part of our experience. We enjoyed a lovely lunch this afternoon. Food and service were fantastic. Husband ordered the 14 oz pork chop with Steens cane syrup glaze and a side of macaroni and cheese. I ordered the ahi tuna stack which was a generous enough portion to be my meal. The pork chop was cooked to perfection and the glaze was a delicious complement to the pork. The tuna was very fresh, seared perfectly, and the presentation was as beautiful as the dish was tasty. We were visiting friends in the area who took us there and we look forward to returning for another wonderful meal. Excellent value for the quality. W had come here for my rehearsal dinner before our wedding. I would give this 5 stars but the communication alone for such a special event was absolutely terrible. I tried multiple times to reach out and call just to verify everything and make sure we were all set. Calling in - don't expect to get a good response because they are clearly not interested in reviewing carefully details besides the number of people. I also emailed and didn't get a response until about 4 days AFTER the event. Aside from this, The food here is always absolutely amazing. Steaks perfectly cooked and food is always brought out in a timely manner. The cocktails are delicious as well!! Especially the espresso martini! My husband brought me here for my birthday. We hadn't been to this Mandeville location for some time, even though we do love all of Pat Gallagher's restaurants. We didn't realize that when they open for lunch (11 am - 2:30 pm) on the weekdays, and close until they reopen at 5 pm for dinner, that the bar stays open all day! Now we know!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We love their bar. It is huge but something about its set up (and the great bartenders) is just very fun and welcoming[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We enjoyed pre dinner martinis at the bar, then were seated for our dinner. We tried a cup of their soup of the day, "Boiling Pot". Like a crab boil with mixed seafood. My husband loved it. Also had the Crab Claws appetizer that was so amazing and decadent. The sauce was so delicious that we scooped it up like soup after we finished the mini crab claws. We both had the Surf N Turf. The lobsters were huge and so succulent. Our filet mignons were perfectly cooked Pittsburgh-style. I devoured our Sweet Potato casserole. We also had delicious creamed spinach. Our server, Andrew, was so good! His friendliness made our night. He brought me an awesome birthday dessert. We also ordered our favorite liquid desserts, Irish Coffee Decafs. The most special part of the night though, is when we walked in the restaurant, not only did the Maitre D open, hold the door and greet us warmly, but so did Chef Pat Gallagher, who was sitting in the front area of the restaurant. I had one of many lunches today at Pat Gallaghers 527 and as usual, the meal was simply glorious, and I mean truly sublime. I've not reviewed it before because honestly, I've taken it for granted and stop in often and conveniently sit at the bar. This is a better meal than many of the super premium New Orleans restaurants and at lunch, it's a third of the price. The employees are super friendly and the pacing of the meal is perfect. Every dish that we have ever been served, it clearly has just been prepared and rushed to me, and even in groups of four or more, none of the heat lamp tomfoolery that happens at many restaurants. The value is solid, $14 for 3 soup dishes that are exquisite and then only $16 for a crisp and hefty fried catfish pecan amandine. The fish was ultra fresh, super crisp, with crunchy pecans decorating the top. Even the green beans were made with pride as they were fresh and oh so tasty! (And I rarely eat vegetables). And here's the real kicker - and what compelled me to post today. In the post covid world, many things have changed and not in a good way. However, I come to Gallaghers and the employees are happy, they are dedicated to serving diners, the chefs are prideful of their dishes - just look at the images of my two dishes. I wish I could have photographed the gentleman's meal next to me - Steak and Lobster - it's presentation was equally gorgeous and the aromas coming my way, they were a culinary gift. We went to Pat Gallagher's 527 in Mandeville for a delicious treat! 3 courses at $/ is a steal at this Mandeville favorite steakhouse! ---this is a house/fan favorite and is definitely a winner. ---if you like your roux right in the middle not too light or too dark...this is for you! ---y'all the flavors were spot on and it was perfectly seasoned and the green beans served with this were seasoned to perfection! ...y'all that cream sauce in between was and the chicken was moist not dry which is a common occurrence with chicken. ...served with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce. read more

My first time at 527 and it was an overall excellent experience. First, our waiter, Grant, was exceptional. Wonderful waiter! The food, as at other Pat Gallagher's restaurants, was delicious. I chose the special three-course lunch special and my guest chose the wedge salad with beef tips. Delicious! The green beans that came with my meal were cooked perfectly unlike the raw green beans many restaurants serve. My entree, the hoisin marinated beef kabobs, was tender and succulent. My guest gave high marks for her salad. We will return and will ask for a table with Grant. read more

We usually love this restaurant but lately it's been off. Today a friend and I ate lunch she ordered catfish almondine and I got the Mediterranean salmon. When the dishes came out they looked beautiful and we couldn't wait to dive in. Mine was lukewarm and when I cut it open it was raw on the inside. My friends catfish,she said, tasted like it was cooked in old oil. We hadn't seen our server in quite some time so I enlisted the help of another server to get my salmon a little more cooked. I realized the original server never asked how I wanted it cooked. When it came back again t was not hot and all of the feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes and most of the capers were gone. The fish was still raw in the center at that point I gave up. We got there at noon and we left at 2:45 Our server was MIA during most of our meal. We finally gave up on ordering dessert and we had stayed longer talking hoping he'd ask. If we had been asked how our food was we would have gladly given feedback. First time visiting this restaurant at a recommendation of a friend and I must say...we throughly enjoyed it. Great atmosphere and some old school R&B playing in the background. Restaurant was nice and clean. The staff was friendly from the host yo the servers. There was someone for every need. You had someone filling the water. Sweet young lady, very friendly with a nice smile. The server was nice also, attentive, she did great, except she forgot my husbands lemon Food-The food was really flavorful. My husband truly enjoyed the turtle soup. I tried scallops for the first time and it was delicious, especially with the bacon. Lobster was huge!!! Ohhh the complementary bread...hot and dangerously delicious I love Brussel Sprouts, but I have to say these were just okay. We came here for the first time on our anniversary, we made a reservation on a Saturday night around 630. We were seated quickly and our server came over within minutes. We ordered the special which was a soft shell crab entrée, and lamb chops. The soft shell looked beautiful, but was lacking on taste. The lamb was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We happened to go on the night when three other couples were celebrating anniversaries. The waitress was excellent. She made sure we had everything we needed and she gave us a free anniversary dessert, and took our picture. Literally everything we ordered was outstanding, the lemon drop martini was perfect, the petite filet was cooked to perfection, the largest baked potato I've ever seen, the soft shell crab bisque was delicious. I was surprised of a wide variety of menu option considering this restaurant is well known for the steaks/ fish dishes I would say. I really don't know what changed. I stopped into 527 today, on one of many trips but to be fair about a year since last time. Service - Excellent. Martinis - excellent. But ordered my staples - eggplant with crab meat along with a quail entree. Eggplant sauce and recipe completely different with very little crab meat. Quail overcooked. I hope I caught them on an off day or just didn't order their speciality items. I love this restaurant so I am hoping It was me. I didn't finish either dish. I started doing yelp reviews as a way to document good, and not so good, places my wife and I find as we travel around by RV. Today, I am very pleased to review a place that is VERY good. Pat Gallagher 527 was our choice for a nice Easter lunch, as we began a weeklong trip to Natchez, MS, and it was a great choice. As with most restaurants on a holiday, reservations were closed by the time we got around to selecting a place, however, bar dining was wide open and more than suited us. The food was excellent. My wife had a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing (all dressings made in house) and the stuffed chicken; loved it. I had a spinach salad with Cajun vinaigrette and Oysters Pablo (pictured), a southwest take on oysters Rockefeller that includes, among other ingredients, chipotle peppers and tequila (a personal favorite of mine); loved it too. Service was great, the food arrived hot and well prepared and we thoroughly enjoyed our feast before returning to the road. This was our first visit to one Chef Gallagher's establishments, but it won't be the last. I can't see how anyone would be disappointed dinning here, Chef Gallagher wouldn't allow it. What the hell are these rave reviews!!!??? The place SUCKS!!! Let's start with appetizer: crab claws were as big as a woman's fake fingernail and the sauce was "broken" If you don't know what a broken sauce is, look it up. I'm sure the "chef" or expeditor of food knows what it is!! (Or maybe not, because it wouldn't have been served) save $21 on that crap!!!! Sides: creamed spinach=frozen spinach with a somehow gritty cream sauce!!! Tasteless Potato au gratin=sysco precut potato dices that are cryovaxed, mixed with some really tasteless dairy product topped cheddar cheese that was an oily film on top!!! Maybe try some Gruyère cheese for the amount of money you charge. Ribeye: ordered medium rare, but came out medium and tough!! Not to mention the steak was served on an appetizer oval instead of a plate that was meant for the steak. Guess Pat is running low on plates since they heat them up so hot they crack, however shot plates are necessary for the sizzling butter effect, also maybe they put a big steak on a small plate for visual enormity. Last night this place was packed. We had crab meat Saint Francis which was very good and my wife had a red fish dish which was also very good. The service is perfect only problem was my veal chop of $41 was very difficult to eat it was tough! The best thing we had was really good dessert with vanilla ice cream. Scrumptious. read more

Very good restaurant. Some of the stuff we got was a little salty but I could see it maybe just being a one time mess up. But overall, very good. The staff was great and patient and had a good sense of humor with our crazy large table. Out of everything, their baked yams were soooooooooo good! Like the best I've ever had. You can get a whole dish of it for thanksgiving! I wish we lived in the northshore to get it! We met the owner/chef and he was super nice and thankful we came in. Definitely worth trying! read more
