    Cracker Barrel at night, Springfield
    Bruce K.

I got here after 9pm and was on my way well before 6am so there was no opportunity to eat a meal this time. Cracker Barrel supports the RV lifestyle by allowing RVers to use their parking lots with the polite request (but not requirement) that we purchase a meal. I didn't on this particular stop but did later on my journey. Clean parking lot, reasonably quiet considering that it's close to major roads. But this late at night and it was good enough! Thanks, CB! [Review 646 of 2024 - 338 in Missouri - 21677 overall]

My salad didn't look like this.

40 minutes to get biscuits, salad, and a cheeseburger, and it's only 49minutes bc I had to stop our waitress Kara on her tracks and ask about our biscuits. The House salad was a total let down, bacon is cold and uncooked, the greens cucumber and cherry tomatoes were fresh but the Buttermilk ranch was tasteless and it had texture from being frozen thawed out and then mixed back in no flavor. Like how can anyone mess up a salad right? So I definitely didn't eat my salad (still paid for it but will never eat here again). The cheese burger was just ok, the bun was dried out, tomatoes were old too and we only ate bc we were starving. Waitress was not attentive but I still gave her a 15% tip. Store is charming and they have great selection on gift items and ambiance is homey, but we will never eat here again.

After a disappointing experience in Kansas City that made my fiancé and I never want to try Cracker Barrel again (we were seated and then no one served us for 20 minutes, not even drink orders), we were in Springfield for a day trip and drove by. We remembered what we wanted to order that day in Kansas City and then decided to give CB a second chance. I went to this CB several times in the late 2010s and prayed the service was still good because I didn't have it in my heart to be disappointed by CB again. We were immediately seated and greeted by the best, kindest, most genuine server we have seen in years and years. She was so nice while at the same not being too invasive with our lives. She checked in on us several times and I really felt like she took care of us! The chicken was great but we both admitted it could be a bit more crispy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were great. It was unfortunate I got full too fast.

Heck, she even had Brad Pitt's dad help with wallpapering! The place, obviously, is not a chain hotel and if you are expecting things to be like a chain hotel, you might not be happy here. But if you are reading the reviews you probably already know this. We stayed on a Friday night, so we were there for the weekend breakfast, which I enjoyed. We had not heard ANY sounds from other guests at any point during the night, so were surprised that other people were there at breakfast. A guest at the other table said to us that he was surprised to see anyone else was here as they had not heard us either! It turns out that their room was very close to ours; and there were guests in other rooms as well! Wish all hotels were that quiet! Because of the historic nature of the building, it seems it might be inaccessible to people with mobility issues. Our room (the Chapel suite) was pink and frilly and not really my style of decor - but it's not like I'm moving in! It was definitely a change from usual hotel decor, which is never to my style either! It's a pretty large place and is not as cozy as a small B&B. But it's very reasonably priced compared to those. Beds were quite comfortable, more so than most hotels in my experience. We had reserved 2 nights, but had to cut our vacation short due to weather predictions on the route home. They were completely understanding and didn't charge us for the cancellation of the next night. Will definitely stay here again!

A very cozy and unique place for a reasonable price! The breakfast was also great! I would stay…read moreagain!

Started off with the orange zest caramel latte and it was great: noticeable orange flavor, not overwhelmingly sweet, and served hot in a big campfire-style mug. We split the "super basic brekky" (biscuit, 2 fried eggs, 2 sausage patties, and a side of dressed greens) and the "bean gurlie" hashbrown bowl (hashbrown casserole, fried eggs, beans, onions, peppers, cheese. Also came with a side of dressed greens). Portions were filling and everything was DELICIOUS. The biscuit was our favorite part of the meal (tall, fluffy, amazing), but the sausage and the hashbrown casserole were close contenders. I'm not a huge greens person at breakfast, but whatever they dress them with was super tasty and I loved it. Decor gives thrifted grandma vibes in the most fun and curated way. Staff was very efficient and kind. We'll absolutely be back!
