I absolutely love this restaurant chain -- just not this particular location. I started coming here about a year ago, and back then both the food and the service were much better. Now, however, the wait times are long, and the servers keep rushing over to ask, "Do you need a box?" while you're still in the middle of eating. The quality of the food changes like the weather outside -- I can't remember the last time I was truly satisfied with my order. That said, the atmosphere of the restaurant, just like in any other state, is unique. As an immigrant, I enjoy noticing the little details in the decor and learning about the history each state reflects. I hope the situation improves for the better in the near future. read more

Service was slow but it was because of one table. the pancakes were nice, light and fluffy. The half-and-half and wild berry drinkd were really good and not too sugary. My husband and I came to the Cracker Barrel in Trevose on Friday night for dinner, and we had a great experience. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli, and he ordered the meatloaf with loaded hash brown casserole, steamed broccoli, and mashed potatoes. We were not disappointed -- the food came out quickly, everything was hot and delicious, and the portions were generous. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and honest with us. She recommended the biscuits, and we're glad we took her advice -- they were fresh, buttery, and so good. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the amount and quality of food. "We don't make those here." she muttered as I settled for some scrambled yolks and some grits. Truth told I really don't mind the 15 varieties of Pez dispensers, Barbara Mandrell cassette tapes and Mallard duck whistles in the store. Homespun works here. While most of our food was good, our waiter Jose was beyond disrespectful to us. We had asked for our scrambled egg to be well done, but when we got it it was a little runny. Normally this would be fine as we would send it back and we would ask for our order. But instead of this, Jose denied us ever saying this but did still agree to take it back. Service was great. Server was nice. First time at Cracker Barrel where there was no wait. We got seated right away. Usually all the other locations have a least a . A bit loud with everyone talking. The fried pickles were super acidity. The batter on pickle is super church but also hard so it uncomfortable to eat. The rib though! Juicy, flavorful, and fall off the bone tender! I was at this Cracker Barrel Sunday morning. Very busy but my wait time was amazingly short. They were very well staffed..taking care of the customers. I met the what seemed like a manager ..John who interviewed himself and we had a nice talk. I told him they had good help..not so easy to find these days. It was a MUST HAVE for me, so I call the closest CB, which is the Trevose location. The male staff was very nice and told me they have some in stock. I was there in 40 minutes lol. I went to their store first to grab my plushies, I didn't feel that bad vibe, so I decided to dine in with my family. Our server Zack B. came over and grab our drinks order. Me and my daughter had order the watermelon lemonade, it was so darn tangy and no trace of the fruit, we barely drinks it. Zack replaced it for us without any problems. The ac was on BLAST, it is pretty frigid in there, so I decided to get their hot Caramel Latte. I must say that was one of the best Caramel Latte I've tasted! As for entrees, my daughter want the slider kids meal. Hubby wants the Tender and Shrimp. I order the meatloaf. Everything were very delicious. It was so good that we decided to buy a few of their $5 take home specials. Both of the staffs that were working in the restaurant and the merchandise store were friendly! Haven't been here in several yrs. Last time I was here my meatloaf diner was literally frozen & had to get it microwave. Tonight, wife & I stopped in and again had a terrible experience. I tried the meatloaf again and it was room temperature along with the mash potatoes. I told waitress about both instances & requested a box telling her I would cook it at home. I did order a bowl of chill & that was very good. My wife has celiac disease & they have no real options for gluten free dinners. My wife was going to order a salad but waitress stated she wasn't sure dressing was gluten free. She didn't even go to check with the cook or manager. The service was fantastic. It was my first time there and I enjoyed the biscuits , the hush puppies and the shepherd's pie. The catfish entree was bland. The fish was fried well but lacked sufficient seasoning and bigger portions. One fillet seemed of normal size and the second was like half of a fillet. The corn needed seasoning big time. The fried okra was okay but could've used more seasoning as well. The star of the show was the bread. The biscuits and hush puppies were sheer perfection. The waitress who served us was so sweet and friendly . I loved the old fashioned decor of the restaurant and the many items offered in the store. I purchased two containers of a childhood favorite candy which is maple nut goodies and they tasted good ; but I wish the peanuts were grounded into the candy as I remember instead of being whole. We have heard about Cracker Barrel for a while now and had wanted to try it for funsies. I got the southern fried chicken with breaded okra and corn and their old fashioned lemonade, while my husband got the fried catfish with onion petals, breaded okra, and mashed potatoes. We chose to split the bread basket between biscuits and cornbread. For dessert, we got the biscuit beignets. We were genuinely excited to try the food but were beyond disappointed. We have never had anything so bland in our lives. How can it be possible for something to be over 1000 calories and taste so like nothing? Everything from the cornbread and biscuits (which tasted exactly the same) to the sides was absolutely flavorless. The only things that were remotely flavored was the breading on the fried chicken which was a tad bit salty but the chicken itself was so bland that it balanced out, and the beignets which were honestly carried by the sweet butter pecan sauce. Even Popeyes has better chicken and is cheaper. Biscuits you buy from the grocery store and cornbread you can buy a packaged mix for from the grocery store tastes better than the stuff we got. The only saving grace was the lemonade which was actually good. Some highlights though - Our server was amazing and very nice, and we very much enjoyed the cute quaint decor of the restaurant. Hadn't been here for awhile and figured we'd give it a shot. So happy we did. Stopped in last night (Thursday) about 6 pm and were immediately seated. The waitress Dziana immediately came over for our drink order. I had the country fried steak with mashed and okra. The waitress was diligent enough to ask what gravy I wanted on the mashed before I had a chance to. Awesome. Rarely ever get that. Very rarely. My daughter had breakfast with grits and she was asked if she wanted cheese with them. Usually we get a weird look for ordering grits. My sweet tea glass never got below 1/4 before she had another one on the table. While the review is officially about the restaurant and the food, I am writing it because of our waitress. She was absolutely fantastic. The food was great. Everything was hot and not sitting under heat lamps for 20 minutes hot and the portions were more than generous. It's been quite some time since I visited a Cracker Barrel. It reminded me that this time of year, it's a great venue to visit for both eating and shopping for holiday gifts and novelties. Their store is filled with unique items and hard to find nostalgia. I was there for lunch with colleagues. We all ordered grilled chicken over salad. Everything still took hours to cook, Turkey was frozen solid and was a processed piece of meat. Not the Turkey described in stores. The turkey was again, processed, heavily salted and had a strange texture. almost like a Mcdonalds mcrib type texture. The sides were inedible and again, they seemed highly processed. So yea, everything was gross and inedible. We basically trashed our meals. The only good item were the prepackaged rolls that came with the Meal. In conclusion, this was the worst Thanksgiving meal I've ever had in my life. Huge let down. Huge mistake depending on a restaurant for our Thanksgiving. Never a fu*king gain. Came here with my mom and son for breakfast today and It was just like I remembered as a kid. Great shop to buy toys and Knick knacks that I used to love. Also great food! Got the biscuits and Gravy with eggs, tater tots and chicken sausage (probably would get bacon next time). It said thick cut so I thought thicker but It was like normal bacon which I would have liked. They have the best pancakes. My mom and son got them. All great & great service! Racket Barrel is typically my go to place for a decent southern breakfast. Placed my name on the waitlist while en route and checked in once there and was immediately seated. Our server soon came over, introduced self, and took our drink orders. The little peg game wasn't on the table, I assumed due to COVID. Searched high and low for catfish and just thought I was over looking it, however our server informed us that it was no longer on the menu. WHAT!!! So I ordered the Build your own w/grits and bacon. My bacon was gross, all this oil was on the plate and dropping when picked up, that alone was turning my stomach. The pancakes were typical Cracker Barrel pancakes that just devour they syrup you put on them. It's been years since I've been to a Cracker Barrel and I was quite excited to take my son. He saw the country store when we walked in and that's where the excitement stopped. We were sitter immediately. Our server came and we ordered our drinks which he brought and we needed a minute with the menus. It felt like it took our server forever to return to take our order to wear I almost drank my whole lemonade and my son finished his chocolate milk. We finally placed our order and my son was content playing with the wooden game that they have. 5-10 minutes later the server returned and asked what fried chicken my son wanted, if he wanted the kids chicken tenders but my son at almost 13 wanted the fried chicken meal. The waiter then said he would have to go change the order. At that point my son was starving and we were nervous now that the food would take forever. We did receive corn muffins. The corn muffins were not sweet or moist at all. Finally we got fried pickles as an appetizer they came and had no seasoning to them at all and when you bite into them the breading falls off. Next we finally got our meal. He got the fried chicken and I got the fried shrimp meal. Neither were bad or good. My favorite thing were the baked beans and my son was the Mac and cheese. We were never asked or given refills on our drinks. I did order my son another drink and I ordered my husband a platter to go since he was at work. He liked walking around the store afterwards but suggested next time we eat somewhere else and just come to the store afterwards. Now yes understand it's country cooking but today the food was down right horrible spent $50 for what be ok for a dog to eat. The server picked wrong job choice screwed up order each time we tried to get his attention but seems we were bothering him taking his time. Now the Food, ok Meatloaf was rare inside also has green pepper . I have had meatloafs over 45;years no one uses green peppers ewwwww nasty. My Friend got a sampler to the carrots were good the chicken no knoce was given guess you supposed to eat like you live in the forest, dry no taste, dumpster dumplings nasty mess in a bowl.
