On our way home from San Diego we stopped in Carlsbad for breakfast and stumbled upon Crackheads. What a unique dining experience. They have a bar, and then an outdoor space with tables, picnic tables, artificial grass with cornhole games for the kids. We sat at a high top table on a beautiful Southern California morning and had coffee, Avocado Toast and a Tot breakfast style casserole. The avocado was creamy and covered the toast, then fresh tomatoes topped with crisp bacon and was topped with a soft egg. The minute the egg was cut into, the creamy yolk ran over the bacon, tomatoes avocado and toast, yum! The tot and egg dish was scrumptious. Pieces of Carne Asada and bacon were tossed into the crisp and crunchy tots, topped with cheese, onions and a soft egg. As soon as I cut into the egg, like the avocado toast, the yolk ran over the tots filling the crevices. It was rich, and salty which is the perfect breakfast for me. read more

Crackheads is right in the heart of downtown Carlsbad. All outdoor seating with a full bar and a kitchen in a shipping container. The breakfast sandwiches were large and filling. The side of fries was a very large portion that came with a spicy ketchup. A good value meal in a fun place for a meal and a drink. read more

Normally I won't write bad reviews, but during a time like this when employers don't enforce safety rules and fail to lead by example there is something to be said. When we got there the owner walked up with no mask and told us to sit where we wanted. The whole time we were there he never once wore his mask. We went there they never informed us that their kitchen was closing, and that they had cosmic burgers coming in. The waitress said it would be about 10 minutes for the burgers to get set up in the 30 minutes we were there they never did finish setting up. State mandate also states in order to be open patrons must buy food. Guess this another rule that doesn't matter to the owner read more

Cool spot opened up a while ago for the summer frenzy here in C bad. Nice addition and great name so I went. It's on the corner of state and Carlsbad Village Drive so easy to find. They share a cool grassy area with the smoothie shop. Great for kids and dogs and me who might enjoy a morning beverage of the adult variety. Huge bar for that kind of indulging. I had the fennel, bacon egg sandwich and it's a good solid four. With the popularity of Egg Slut, it's tough to match the almost perfect bread they have, but Crackheads comes close. It's a meal for $7.50 and I guess should be. The runny egg with bacon looked just as good. I'll go again and be more through with my beverages. I promise. Nice outdoor park like setting with high top tables and communal tables. I met the owner too (forgot his name) who is very nice. My friends and I went here to celebrate a birthday. We've been here many times and come back because we've enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere. However, the service we received yesterday by a server, Micah, was very rude. She made belittling comments to our table as soon as we were seated. She was taking orders and I was still looking at the menu. I didn't hear that she was trying to take my order. My friends were trying to get my attention and she said to me "honey my eyes are over here" while pointing to her eyes. It was very rude and demeaning. I was still looking at what to order and I felt that that her comment and attitude was very unnecessary. Once you walk up there is no directions, signs or any organization so I walked passed the bar to the other cargo container & asked how the process worked. I couldn't really hear the clerk as the music speaker right next to the counter was blasting. I rarely give out 1 star but waiting 30-45min for 1 egg sandwich is absurd! :( My girl had time to walk around the corner to get food elsewhere, sit down, finish her food and return to me still waiting and I had to get her back to work as it was her lunch break. Nobody was in line in front of me either do not really any excuses I can make for them that I'm aware of. Oh well. Lesson learned! I noticed they cater to the coffee drinkers as the people that came after me ordered and got there drinks quickly. If you want to really take in what Carlsbad is about, this is the spot to chill at. If you go on a Sunday, they have a great deal on bottomless mimosas + the OJ is FRESH!! #winning for all you Juice snobs like myself! My fav item on the menu is their Avo Toast - it is like a complete breakfast item altogether because it comes with an egg, bacon, on top of the fresh avo and sliced scallions. They're also known for their fully loaded tator-tots (their version of carne asada fries) which will fill you up like no other. Came here for Sunday morning brunch after not coming here for 5 years or so. It just doesn't seem on the radar for some reason. I was a little bummed at first that you can't just walk up and order at the counter like we used to. Our server however was friendly, efficient, patient and helpful. We ordered a breakfast burrito with no meat, add tots and avocado as well as the Wilbur breakfast sandwich. Both were delish and would definitely get me to come back for a second visit. Again please!!! We have been driving past this place for 2 years and it was always after we just ate. Never again will we spend so long away from here! I love everything about this place. The staff was friendly, it's all outdoors, dogs allowed, indiscriminate bathrooms, great styling, amazing drinks and even better food! We sat on the upper deck. The views are fantastic and what a great use of space. The menus are via QRCode. Saves paper. It is a small menu but as far as I'm concerned that means they have perfected everything on it. I had Our Only Salad. It's their only because they don't need another. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The avocado was a beautiful bright green, the tomatoes were crisp and the cucumbers snapped. Not one piece of lettuce was brown and the dressing was a perfect mix of sweet and tart. Can you ask for anything better? Oh, you want an egg? I'm sure they'll add it for you! My hubby had the Crackhead Burger. He said it was fantastic and just the right size. Well cooked, again, fresh ingredients and the fries were nicely colored and perfectly crispy. The ranch was nothing to write home about but the ketchup being the spicy ketchup was a nice touch. I've never tried it before but I gotta say, I'm converted. My daughter had the breakfast burrito. This was your simple eggs, bacon and cheese in a tortilla. She loved it! It was so good I couldn't stop stealing bites myself. The cocktails are fancy and come in different glassware. I mention this because it's always fun to see what presentation you'll get. I tried the Jalapeño Cucumber-Rita. It was SO GOOD! I love this combo. The ingredients were fresh and muddled in my glass which always proves the thing wasn't some pre-made mix. It's a true craft cocktail and let's face it, it better be for the price! The whole concept and vibe are really fun - a container bar with an astro turf lawn, yard games, string lights, picnic tables, and an orange julius type drink on their menu? Sold! Great atmosphere with lots of laughter and a lot of people playing corn hole. There were also a couple of dogs, so this place is definitely dog friendly.
