I don't like crab boils so I was skeptical however I saw blue crabs and since it's my favorite food I had to give it a shot! I am a Maryland blue crab connoisseur. These are not those! These are Korean blue flower crabs with spots on them. Some were mushy so I didn't eat them all. I tried them all to be sure but not my thing. I got 3 crabs with my order. I'll start this review by saying I ate here two consecutive days. . . Both days I ordered the pick two special with snow crab and shrimp. The special also came with corn, potato, boiled egg, and sausage. I subbed the sausage for corn one day and potato the second day. Everything was very flavorful. The first day I had the house special with a slice level of hot, and the second day I had the bayou seasoning with a spice level of hot. When they say hot, they mean hot! After comparing pricing, reading reviews & seeing who was actually open during the pandemic -- I ultimately decided to choose Crackin' Crawfish. Staff was quite friendly when I called ahead to ask questions about their online ordering. Order: 1/2 lb Combo - Pick 2; 1/2 lb of Snow Crab, 1/2 lb Shrimp head-on, corn, egg, potato & sausage. I honestly could've bought sausage for $2.50 vs the pinky size cut of sausage provided. Sauce: Bayou -- there was absolutely nothing Cajun about the Bayou sauce. Even after choosing medium spice it tasted more sweet then anything. Now was it horrible? No, but I was expecting a lot more kick & pow going on with my tastebuds. Ultimately, Charlotte just doesn't have the appropriate seafood establishments that can represent quality boils. read more

We frequent Crackin Crawfish and thoroughly enjoy the seafood boil. We don't bother ordering anything else. Hopefully, it will continue to taste great so that we won't have to try something different. The price is comparable and the portion size is more than adequate for us. I love the sausage and the Bayou seasoning SPICY! I wish they would put another piece of corn in there. I prefer that over the potatoes. All in all, an excellent meal. read more

I really enjoyed my recent experience at Crackin Crawfish. The food was great, and I liked that I got to try a little of everything with my Crackin' Special. Along with my combo of Dungeness crab and shrimp, I got corn, a boiled egg, potato and sausage. At other places that have crab boils, some of these extras cost more. Here, they were included so that was a nice change. I tried the House Special flavor with a medium spice level, and it definitely had a kick! We've been going to crackin crawfish since they've open and I'm so disappointed in our latest experience. There were at most 4 open tables at the time and not busy at all. Our server was behind the bar on her phone majority of the time and we had to get up twice to get her attention. When we finally got our food we were not satisfied at all. Like I've said before, we've been going since the beginning. Our sauce was watered down and had no flavor at all. Normally the sauce sticks to the seafood and is finger licking good. We let the server know so maybe they could just fix it in the back. However, it just seemed like we were the issue and they said they could charge us to fix the problem. They didn't seem to care and no one came over to check on us. Crackin Crawfish LLC is one of the OG seafood boil locations in Charlotte. This was my first time trying them. My family have been several times. I believe this is their restaurant of choice. We got there before the Friday night rush. We ordered two bags. Both with 1/2 pound Snow Crab and heads off Shrimp. One bag had Clams and the other didn't. The sauce was delicious. So good we spooned it over white rice. The boiled eggs covered in the sauce was also very good. The sauce is full of small garlic pieces and it's kind of sweet and tangy sauce. The girls at the salon wanted some crawfish and suggested this place. I have to drive 45mins from Steele Creek. But being with the girls and enjoy some good food was well worth the drive.. Customer service: 4/5 I wasn't greeted when I step into the restaurant. One of the girls where there already and we just sat at the bar. But no one offers us anything to drinks. I came here with my brother and a friend because well, they wanted to get through all the seafood spots in Charlotte. I had a decision between this place and another, and I decided here. So did I pick right? This place used to be a Buffalo Wild Wings a long time ago when I was in college. So it was kind of nostalgic when I came in and saw the layout was pretty much the same except a wall was put up and it seemed a little bit cut off. Though when we came in, the tables were definitely 6' apart. We came in around 8ish, so it was pretty much dead. There was only another table when we sat down. So, how was it? Let's say that I don't know if it was dependent on the time we came or what, but the amount of food was amazing. I do have to say though that the flavors were a bit lacking. It could be that what we chose, but we did have a sampling of sauces. The amount of food was great though, because I feel like what we ordered, wasn't what we received...it was more. Either way, the flavor was passing. The food itself some of the pieces were a little overcooked, but the amount that we got was amazing. For that, I thought it was definitely 4 stars. Warning, it can get pricey because you're probably going to eat about 2lbs yourself. There's combos available and you can also create your own custom combo, as long as you order the minimum 3lbs. I had the House flavor, medium level spicy. I think mild would have been better for me. At the end of the meal, my lips were on fire and numb, haha. I thought the overall flavor was good but a little too salty. You get a bucket, scissors, bib, and latex gloves. I didn't eat much so the gloves held up for my meal. I had very little sauce seep through. The snow crab legs were done well! You can crack the leg sections in the middle and all the meat slides out! I really liked that! The shrimps were surprisingly big and meaty! You can get shrimps with either the heads on or off. Crawfish were frozen instead of fresh today. And they did tell us before we ordered. We called our order in and the curbside was a smooth process. I walked up to the table outside and pressed the button that alerted the staff that I was there. Yummy. Food was good. My hubby and I came for a bite while out running errands. I liked that there was food on the menu for my daughter so we can bring the kids back. She's the only one in the family who is not a seafood lover. We thoroughly were given the lay of the menu, recommendations etc. We were told their 4 sauces were made on house and we wouldn't find anywhere else. We were even able to sample all of them. So I know these seafood boil spots are popping up all over and all the ones I have tried I have loved. Until this place. Should have known on a Friday night when it's nearly empty, no wait that that may have been an indicator of what was to come but I kept an open mind to give them a fair chance. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an app, they came out lukewarm with straight out the fridge marinara sauce. Strike one. Like how to you mess up something so simple as cheese sticks. Cheese didn't even stretch when bit into because they were not hot to begin with. And I have never in my life been served cold sauce to accompany cheese sticks. It's like they didn't even try. We proceed to order our seafood. We both ordered mussels, shrimp, and crab legs. Came out piping hot thankfully but flavor just wasn't there. Had more spice than actual flavor from what I could tell and I ordered the medium. Maybe I'm just not a spice girl but the medium at other locations have been spot on. Here all I could taste was spicy. I got the house special season but I just don't see anything special about it. Service was subpar to say the least. Asked to speak to manager to to share our experience, but of course they never came. We waited patiently for 15min for a manager to never even attempt to come see what our complaint was in an extremely dead under crowded restaurant. No worries. The seafood is very fresh and the prices are market price per pound for each seafood offerings (Snow & Dungeon Crab legs, Shrimp, Crawfish, Mussels, Clams, Lobster Tails) or you can order one of their various Crackin Combos which comes with corn, potatoes, boiled eggs, and sausage. Their finger foods aren't too bad either as they offer different entrees with fries like Butterfly Shrimp, Fish, Chicken Tenders & Nuggets, and Shrimp Egg Rolls just to name a few. You can easily add on side items such as corn, potatoes, sausage, etc as well as butter and garlic butter. I gave 4 stars as the garlic butter isn't that flavorful- it's just chopped garlic mixed in butter- no other seasoning or flavor. Also the breading in the fish & shrimp could be a little more flavorful as well as it's just pretty much bland. If you haven't experienced Crackin' Crawfish, you must try it if you're in Charlotte. The inside decor reminded me of the Krabby Patty shack on SpongeBob as a net was hung above the ceiling with crawfish as you walked in. There are flat screen TVs for the sports lovers to enjoy the college football games going on. Also, Crackin' Crawfish have domestic and import beers for the beer drinkers. I had awesome customer service by Viji, who explained the different levels of spices you can get with the boiled seafood. Viji was such a great help as she often made sure I had everything I needed. I thought it was very considerate of Viji to inform me that it is not crawfish season and that it would be frozen before I placed my order. She also asked me if I was allergic to latex from the gloves they provided so you won't get your hands dirty. They sell seafood by the pound and bring it to you in bags, in which you peel yourself. The vegetables such as corn on the cob and potatoes are sold individually by piece. I put on the plastic bib and was overly excited when Viji brought out my bag of seafood and shook up the hot steaming bag of: 1 pound of Crackin' Crawfish 1 pound of clams Corn on com 2 potatoes I got the Crackin' medium spicy. I couldn't handle the hot version as it contains ghost peppers. I devoured the whole order, and I was impressed with how good the cajun spices were. At the end, Crackin' Crawfish provided moist towelettes to wipe your hands. I had made a mess and my face was covered in juices.
