First off, there's nothing "crackin" about this place except maybe the servers are cracking up (and not in a good way). There's no crawfish to crack and even if there was, there's nothing to crack it with...unless the restaurant world has replaced all seafood crackers with a pair of scissors.
Our party of 6 came in this evening around 7:30 pm (it's Tuesday, so this wasn't a busy Friday evening or anything)...we had our elderly Grandmother and a 5 month old with us. OH, and let me mention, we are all from out of town and were in 3 separate cars with a baby...we all just wanted to eat and get back on the road (some of us were driving 3+ hours to get home). So we walk in, get seated, and some of us - because we believe in proper hygiene - went to the bathroom to wash our hands. Of course, there's no paper towels so we had to drip dry back to the table. We informed the server as she was taking drink orders and she hollar'd across the room to her coworker to put paper towels in the bathrooms. As drinks are delivered, one in our party grabbed for the paper towel holder and was met with dirty, crusty, old sauces from previous guests...both on the holder itself and all over the paper towels. We informed the server and she just swapped out the paper towel roll with one from another table and didn't bother to wipe off the holder that had all the sticky old disgusting sauces caked onto it.
Now could we have left at this point...sure...but with an elderly grandma and 5 month old at 7:30 pm, in a place none of us frequent, where were we to go? So we continued with our ordering...as we wait, we notice not only is that disgusting paper towel holder filled with sauce, so is the underside of the table that was covered with a roll of paper as a table cloth...real classy.
The waitress drops off the silverware...PLASTIC forks and spoons, some styrofoam plates, and SCISSORS to crack the shellfish...ok...maybe this is new?...but I've never eaten shellfish with Plastic Forks...
So the Food comes out - I give them props for fast service - and the fish in chips are disgusting. We paid $35 for 2lbs of snow crab legs and only got 3 claws with 4 to 5 small legs on each. Last time I checked, that didn't amount to 2lbs...but seeing as we were sharing we didn't notice at the time.
Moving on...as we finish our meal, I guess they expected us to be happy when we got a free dessert crawling on the table --- yes folks, a COCKROACH. And when we squashed it and politely gave it back to the server with our disgust of finding a bug crawling on the table and paper towel holder, she says "Oh, yeah we get some of these occasionally. All I can give you is 10% off..." for the person that caught the bug that is. So the next thing we know she's giving us our checks and not only did she split them up without asking us whose check was with who, but she decided to add 18% gratuity to each of our checks because "we charge gratuity automatically for parties of 5 or more." When questioned, she even shoved the menu in our face to prove at the very bottom, in tiny white letters, where it states the policy.
Ok, whatever, back to the bug issue. Instead of going to get the manager and having him help solve the issue, the server - E L L I E - who gets props for knowing how to spell her name - decided she was going to start being rude to us and get all in a huff when we wanted the checks fixed. Right in front of us, she's bad mouthing us to the other customers who came in for a to-go order. When we asked her how she would be reacting if she had a bug crawling on a table when she was eating and the dirty table in general she said "you could have left when you noticed the paper towel holder was dirty. And the bug wasn't that big"...like WOW. The rudest server in the world...come to find out, she had just been slapped the week before by another customer.
Ellie - E L L I E - Ellie, dear, get a new job because you do not belong in customer service.
Word to the wise, don't waste your money for mediocre seafood served on plastic ware with scissors...you'd be better off going to Long John Silvers. read more
