Man, if this was a takeout place it would be 5 stars. The food was delicious. (But we aren't local so never would have found the place without dine in). But the coffee was very sweet, boring, one-dimensional. The space itself just isn't taken care of. The lack of cleanliness, orderliness, and attention to detail really makes me concerned about what it looks like in the kitchen. The tables were sticky, there was a person mopping the floor around us (do that before opening), the walls are messy, dented, etc. Get rid of the clutter, bring in a new set of eyes to detail the place. I love CrackleMi - it's a healthy, balanced meal, has super large portions, and isn't super expensive (around $18). The chicken and the beef are good quality and the vegetables are fresh. Not pictured here, but I also very much enjoy their avocado smoothie! They use a high concentration of avocado and it has a strong sweet and creamy but balanced taste. I highly recommend ordering ahead on their website to cut down on the wait time. There isn't really any service inside. The tofu was flavor packed. The only desire I had, was a stronger pickle on the veggies. I also ordered an avocado coffee and it was a creamy dream. The coffee alone is very smooth and has a nutty whole flavor, it was delicious with the avocado. Admittedly, the avocado did taste more egg custard rather than avocado but that did not distract from the awesome combination. When you walk in, there are two tablets to order from. The service was just ok, but we were doing take out anyways. There's a bunch of tables and games so folks can stay awhile if you'd like, but make sure you clean your table off before sitting down. The restaurant just doesn't have good energy. The atmosphere is uninviting with the tables being sticky, the walls not being cleaned recently, and a straight shot view of the kitchen area. Even beyond that, the food presentation and quality was poor. Lastly, the health code score was listed as Okay, which matched my experience. I'm still rooting for them, but there are serious changes that need to be made throughout that I hope they resolve. If there was one single adjustment that would make a big improvement, it's overall cleanliness. Based on all this I cannot recommend this restaurant in its current state. read more

We wanted something fast after the visit at the Woodland Zoo, and you can't go wrong with banh mi (if you don't mind the crumbs of course). I got the food about 10 minutes after ordering. The inside is spacious and has lots of tables for dine-in. The banh mi sandwiches are long (and skinny), and are stuffed with ingredients. The food was amazing! Ordered food for a work event and everyone seemed to have loved it! We ordered: pork, chicken, lemongrass tofu, soy tofu, lemongrass beef banh mi and Pork, shrimp and tofu spring rolls. The beginning was a bit rough, I had reached out to them via email and the first response was relatively quick but when I reached out the second time I didn't hear from them. Eventually I had a good number of to communicate with Peter. He addressed every concern that I had. I asked specifically for individualized sauce containers and they complied. One of my concerns were peanut allergies and cross contamination, Peter assured me that they make their sauces in a separate area and is thorough about their cleaning. So definitely let them know if you have concerns on any food allergies. Their spring rolls were fresh and was individually wrapped so that was amazing! Their egg rolls came to us fresh and pippin hot. Their sandwiches were cut in half and even that was a good size, presentation on everything was spot on. Their meat in both banh mi and spring rolls were very flavorful and have gotten amazing feedback. Once we connected via text/phone, Peter was communicative and during delivery provided me an update on his ETA. Payment was easy and pricing was fair. I anticipated 150 guests, and was given a budget to spend within per diem rate and was able to buy what I needed, fed our group and with leftovers even and I was still close to $1k less than my allotted amount. CrackleMi is a cute restaurant that I would grab lunch at regularly if I worked across the street! However, I think they're a pretty typical Vietnamese restaurant for Seattle, so I'm surprised their overall rating is so much higher than other sandwich spots (I think their rating should be around 3.6 stars but they currently are at 4.6 stars with about 30-35 reviews so far for this location). It's also a turn off that their food safety rating is only "okay". Service was good (5/5 stars). You order at a kiosk and are asked to tip, but will need to get up to get napkins, silverware, and/or water. We enjoyed our bahnmi sandwich (3.5/5 stars) and vermicelli noodle bowl (3/5 stars), but all of the flavoring and seasoning tasted like it came out of a packet or bottle. I had not stopped in the OG CrackleMi in Ballard, but decided today to check out their second location in Fremont (7/28/23). As an aside, this was a beloved indie cafe (The Still Life), a former Sicilian restaurant, and later some short lived sandwich spot. CrackleMi - Fremont is perfectly situated near a main intersection in this lively neighborhood with tech businesses, retail shops, cafes, bars, and other restaurants. Lucked out with free 2 hour parking directly across the street, yay! The interior was inviting with various seating arrangements, and plenty of natural light. Ordering is completed via self serve kiosks that had a wide variety of menu items displayed. I was a bit disappointed that there was no pork lechon banh mi which was the instigation for this visit. But that's okay, I ended up ordering their signature CrackleMi banh mi. I also ordered some fresh shrimp rolls with peanut sauce. There wasn't anyone onsite dining at the time, so I decided to just get these items as takeout. After a brief wait, I was handed a large brown bag with my order. Back at home, I enjoyed the fresh shrimp rolls with peanut sauce. The crisp and aromatic herbs and greens were the exclamation point to these rolls. I appreciated how they were nicely wrapped and packaged as takeout. It was perfect on this warm afternoon. The CrackleMi banh mi was fairly sizeable, nearly a foot in length. Packed full of fresh ingredients: grilled pork, braised pork belly, fried egg, pickled daikon & carrot, green onions, cucumber, cilantro, mayo spread, encased in a toasted baguette. I did request the omission of jalepenos though. Tasty and easily shareable. I nibbled only a little, saving the rest for dinner. I still prefer the banh mi versions though from Q Bakery and Voi Ca Phe though. Nice addition to Seattle's Fremont dining scene! read more

CrackleMi has come to Fremont! Was getting ready to order some takeout on a lazy Monday and was pleasantly surprised that there is now a Fremont spot. Done takeout from the Ballard one several times now. But this one is so much closer to me. Hubby loves their broken rice bowls. I got just a CrackleMi banh mi this time and it was great like usual. It's huge! Online ordering is quick and easy, and you can customize your order. Also, the prices are quite reasonable here. This is a new business that opened in Fremont, and I'm glad I checked it out! It's a cafe serving Vietnamese food, and they offer a variety of noodle bowls, broken rice bowls, banh mi, and more. I got the crackle mi and it was soooo good! The meat was flavorful and tender, and went well with all the other toppings. I really liked the addition of fried egg! This might be my favorite Yelp find of 2024 so far! I visited at the end of a trip, and we were craving something wholesome and fresh. CrackleMi turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. To start, my partner and I split the Vegetable Spring Rolls which were so yummy! These were some of the best (and the largest) spring rolls I've ever had. We went with the Peanut Sauce and it was great too. For the main, I got the Savory Spicy Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi, and it was amazing! Each individual part was done well - the tofu was savory without being overcooked, the sauce was tangy, the vegetables tasted fresh, and the bread had a great texture. I ordered without the Jalapeño and it wasn't too spicy (which is what I was looking for). They were also very generous with the portion size and included plenty of tofu. We also liked that CrackleMi had a laid-back, casual vibe. The service was fast, and the interior was spacious and clean. Large portions, fairly fast casual type of restaurant. I went here to try the bussin bowl which has pork chop and pork belly. I got it half salad half rice since they do say portions are huge. Food wise, it is good and large portions, but it is not really of high quality. Egg was overcooked and pork belly has a bit of fat. Rice was also a bit on the softer side. Otherwise, for a broken rice dish, it does satisfy my cravings for Vietnamese food. There is enough food for a large meal or two satisfying meals, so price was fairly solid. It is one of few places that's open late because we came here at around 9.30-9.40 pm on a Tuesday. And we were the only ones seated at the restaurant. But - we did see a few people order take out. The service is friendly and hospitable. The food rating at the door is okay - that was a bit of a turn off for me. But the food tasted great! And portion sizes justified the price. Two sauces came with each bowl. Very tasty. The marinated tofu was a little on the salty side if I had to nit-pick. The jumbo shrimp on skewers was super tasty and fresh, and a decent portion. Whenever you walk in they say "Oh yeah sorry we're closed" Like I completely understand that you have a large order to fulfill but my advice would be maybe just lock the entrance so that people don't try to come and dine with you.
